It’s a go for Joseph Isaac in Roseau Central

The United Workers Party (UWP) has officially announced that Joseph Isaac will replace Norris Prevost to contest the next general election in Roseau Central for the party.

It has been widely discussed that Isaac would replace Prevost but the party has never made an official announcement on the matter.

Isaac was given the green light at a Constituency Association meeting held on Saturday 10th August, at the PrevoCinemall during which Prevost officially announced that he will not be contesting as a UWP candidate in the election.

However, Prevost told constituents at the meeting that he will remain active in Roseau Central.  “I am not leaving you, the people of Roseau,” he said. “Rather, I am assuming a deeper involvement in Greater Roseau, and taking on an even bigger responsibility in the United Workers Party. I will be working very hard side by side with Mr. Joseph Isaac, the new candidate for Roseau Central, and with the three UWP candidates for Roseau North, Roseau Valley and Roseau South, to ensure that the UWP wins the four Roseau seats, and becomes the Government of Dominica, whenever the election is called.”

The outgoing MP said he has full confidence in Isaac, who he described as ‘a grassroots man from River Street.’

“He is the son of one of Dominica’s famous Goal Keepers, Mr. Johnson Isaac, known as ‘Mosso pier,'” Prevost said. “Joseph Isaac is a sports man in his own right, having captained the National youth football team. Isaac is a bright, experienced  industrial engineer and  Business Consultant. Isaac has established several businesses of his own, and through his professional work with OECS, has enabled many others in Dominica and the OECS to establish their own business.”

He stated that Isaac knows how to create jobs through his work experience.

“I firmly believe that Isaac will create the jobs and small businesses for the people of Roseau,” he noted. “Isaac has worked with me in the Roseau campaign from the formation of the UWP. He was my indoor agent in the Roseau Girls school polling station during the 1995 General elections.  I have full confidence that Isaac will walk in my foot steps in Roseau with honour, and will care for and serve the people of Roseau.”

Isaac you a good man for sure..you mean well..

But i am not sure if Dcans on a whole really want change.
Do you think so? have you seen any positive movements?

Trust me the fear factor that’s around is a reverse meaning they will side and vote for labour after getting their mouths buttered.

That’s Dcans for you bro, once the NGOs,Unions and Other interest groups don’t sing the song of change, all efforts will be fruitless..

Take a leaf from the 79 turnaround it’s wasn’t so much the Freedom Party..but the Unions pushed the Regime completely to the Dust..

Have you seen any of that in Present Day Dominica.

Trust and feel your honest soul..it won’t happen.

Labour will still convince the less fortunate that Remaining Poor and upholding the Red Clinic Module and worshipping Skero. is in fact God Blessing to Dominica.

Why has Da not being developed as their other bros and Sis in the Caribbean, it’s because they love being whipped by a Master…Dominica’s culture..

So all that radio chatter on Q won’t effect change.

Change is done by aggressive ideals, silent Protest in Numbers, Institutions being above board..

Do you see that in today’s Dominica…..”NO”

Did Dominicans stand firm and go for a International Airport..surely not..a few bark, but it shows the mindset of a island where folks are happy with being poor contented with their degree in ignorance..

So you have to understand the Dominican Culture.

Will remain at the bottom, my advise to you is to see how quickly your can migrate to places like St.lucia, Barbados Trinidad and also the US mainland your skills and expertises will be embrace and respect..sorry not in Today’s Dominica!!!

Why Dominica? Some of you, as educated as you are, view the situation of Dominica and its people in a one-sided negative manner, always bringing others down.
You could say the same applies to any country, specifically in the democratic countries of the world.
To a certain degree people conrol themselves. They are responsible for themselves. They should make way for themselves, consider their present and future life and not depend on the government since they are responsible for themselves. This is what responsible nationals do for their livelihood. Let everyone help themselves for God helps those who help themselves.

Sadly, this is a very real and true analysis of Dominica today. I have always said that if Dominicans really wanted change I would put my hat in the ring tomorrow, even as an independent. But alas Dominicans are happy with the way things are – Labour power. I wish the people would think first power to the people, power to Dominica! I wish Isaac well but it will be an uphill battle for all the reasons that you have pointed out here Jolly. Even the churches are silent on the wrongs of the government and the trade unions are lost with mediocre leadership. We got rid of PM John for less wrongdoing than this present wrong wrong wrong government – but the people love their present PM more than they love their country, Alas!

Who is told to jump and you ask ‘How high sir?’ Boss, you people need to stop this thing about ‘Labour for life’ and ‘Freedom for life’……..When you think that way, those who run your party know that no matter what they do, you will vote for them. That is why they will take you all for granted, will call you and the rest of the population lazy and stupid, say that you all are ‘too free’, blame you, the population for the tourism being poor, for the city being dirty, for the economy not working!! That is why they will encourage prostitution in your faces, allowing it to thrive in your midst without taking any action. That is why they will say that the Haitians and the Chinese are hard working and you are not. That is why they will sign an MOU selling off your interests and your country and refuse to talk about it and not be afraid. That is why they will cut you and anyone else (INCLUDING LABOURITES TO THE BONE) who questions them on public programs. That is why they will get rich on the back of passport sales and other illegal sucking of the countries resources with no fear of challenge……..BECAUSE PEOPLE LIKE YOU WILL STILL SING THEIR PRAISES AND VOTE THEM IN simply because the word labour is on the tip of their lips but they could not care less for labour deep in their hearts!! Boss, wake up!!!!! Wake up!!!! Vote for the best for your country and its future, irrespective of party boss!!!!!!!! Hhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm

I do not want to cause you to be disillusioned but hope it will not be a hanger for your jacket. Some of you are too prematurely presumptuous.
Smart people will never predict which Party will win. They will listen to their leaders and candidates and what they have to offer, their proposed plans for Dominica. No one can foretell which Party will win. No one knows what lies ahead, what is in store for Dominica and its nationals. They can only “hope” that the Party they support will win.
All these derogatory comments pertaining to any Party and condemning them should cease. Just pray to God that a proper one is elected. I bet many of you are not doing that. All you do is to place curses on and bring down the Party which you do not support. Tut! Tut! This is not a Christian-like attitude. Do not expect God to be pleased with your attitude.
What happens in the end? If you think the present government is bad you may get a worst government. This would be your punishment for four years if not more.
Do not harbor grudges and hatred. Take care what you wish for, for you will get it.

Say what all you want, curse me, call me all sorts of names, give me all thumbs down, I could care less, but I giving this government 2-3 more terms in office because I don’t wish to be fooled again into thinking that politicians who outside talking going to come in and do any better. The present government have made many mistakes but atleast they have the experience. Therefore a new party would simply come and have to make too many more mistakes before they can gain the experience to do better. In an island as difficult as Dominica to develop I believe a government needs alot of time to do work. Countries like to US and Uk have had their democracy for a very long time so hence the country is strong so they can afford to change government more often but we need time. The UWP is now rather a new party so there is no guarantee that they can just pick up the ball and run with it and who can’t see that must be living in dreamland, where that is. It has never happened in the past and certainly won’t happen now if you were to follow the history of Dominica you would notice under every government people cried out about poverty and so to migrated.

After Rosie Douglas convinced me to leave DFP and join him and the DLP for the 2001 election, I was very instrumental in getting Rosie to go after a gentleman by the name of Mr. Skerrit since he was part of the DFP. When we went after him we almost had to burst our bank to get him and Vince Henderson on board because quite clearly they were after what the party could offer them and not how they could serve the country. I hope they and others will learn to do like the new candidates of UWP and put country before personal gain for is such attitude that will help promote integrity in office. When you are there for what you can get you will most likely try to get everything to stay in power. What a lesson guys!

I see a trend going on in Dominica that has me very amazed and ecstatic. In my 60 plus years this is the first time I see so many high caliber candidates making themselves available to contest an election on the opposition side that was beaten 18-3 at the last election. When you think of the likes of Joseph Isaac, Lenox Linton, Thompson Fountain, the young lady from St. Joe that sounded so professional and well educated, the last time I heard her on Q95, not forgetting the possibility of another high profile person from Roseau South and La plaine, it really sends a powerful message to all. #1 It says that they all agree that their beloved country is in serious trouble and needs them. #2 They are not in it for money but to serve and save their country. I am indeed very happy for Dominica and hope Dominicans vote the in next election.

Politicians must cease attacking their opponents and get down to the business of making Dominica a better and safer place to reside. If it is in their power to create jobs, go right ahead for the unemployed nationals need jobs, well-paying, secure and stable ones for their livelihood.
Inform your constituents (prospective ones) what you are capable of doing and what your plans are to make their lives better rather than attacking your opponent. You will fare better in this respect.
Election campaigns leading up to election day should not be a tug-of-war of words and fights. Campaign with integrity. Be gentlemanly and ladylike. Do not make lavish promises that you may not be able to fulfill. Do the best you can for constituents. Know that you are under scrutiny in all what you say and do. Be a good example and model. Keep the peace and they will, hopefully, emulate you.
Practice diplomacy and be dignified in your mannerism. Keep in mind, Dominica should be progressing and not regressing. So should all politicians.
God bless Dominica with concerned and caring politicians who genuinely have the interest of Dominicans at heart.
Most of all be genuine Christians and pray to our patient God of love and peace to assist you specifically during your campaign. Likewise those who will be elected.
As God looks on and takes note (I love to state), if you wish to be successful, practice those godly virtues. Then leave the rest up to God who knows what is best for everyone.
