Jamaicans will go to the polls on December 29 to elect a new government in the country’s sixteenth elections since adult suffrage in 1944.
Prime Minister and party leader Andrew Holness announced the date at a mass meeting in the central Jamaica town of Mandeville. Nomination day, he said will be December 12.
In announcing the date, Holness said “Remember, I told you we were not going to trouble your Christmas, I want you to have a happy Christmas, a merry Christmas.”
