James thanks Marigot constituencies

Edison James

The United Workers Party (UWP) representatives Edison James is thanking the people of Marigot for turning out in large numbers to vote in Friday’s bi-elections

Official preliminary results have indicated that James received a total of 661 votes while the Dominica Labour Party’s candidate Dayton Baptiste received 131 votes.

James said the people of Marigot understood the issues.

“They understand exactly what we have been saying. They have today demonstrated that they no longer will accept the situation that the DLP has deliberately ignored them. They are also saying that they support calls by the UWP for democracy, ID cards and generally to get free and fair election,” he said.

James also expressed condolences to the family of Ashton Gibbons who was murdered in Marigot Friday morning.

He said that incident also put a damper on the voters in Marigot.

It’s time Dominicans stand up and be counted, and demand better for themselves, we were born into a democracy and do not want any dictatorship on our Island, that playboy who call himself a Prime Minister, and is only there to line his pocket and sellout the Island to foreigners need to go.

When these people get into power they seem to forget they are not there for themselves, the people put them there in the hoping they will bring better changes to the Island for the better, not for them to line their pocket.

BRAVE PATRIOTIC DOMINICANS HAVE OVERWHELMINGLY DEFEATED THE PRIME MINISTER’S PLANS TO ESTABLISH A ONE-PARTY STATE WITH HIMSELF AS DOMINICA’S FIRST DICTATOR.

On Friday July 9th 2010; the people of Salisbury and Marigot put COUNTRY BEFORE SELF and handed the Skerrit led government a resounding defeat at polls in those two constituencies. Candidates of opposition United Workers Party who had previously been technically denied access to the Parliament by the Speaker of the House; were returned with extended majorities of not less than 300 votes and in one case over 500.

One government supporter was reported to have confirmed that the election was unfair as it had been rigged by the opposition. According to her the opposition UWP had corrupted the process and cheated the DLP out of what should have been a sure victory: A prominent senior counsel is said to be reviewing the matter before filing election petitions at the High Court in Roseau

Thanks for continuing to be our Parl Rep. We know that in opposition it is not going to be easy. but at least we are conscious that we will have someone in the house who is capable of speaking on the issues of the day. We know that when Edison speaks everbody listens (friends and foe alike) May God richly Bless you and your family.

no one should question the validity of the vote, at least for the second time, therefore Mr James it is incumbent on you to show your constituents that not only you will make good both on representation and a conclusive voice for the opposition. but you must see the opposition as a means to enlighten the general electorate on matters of general importance.
