Kelver Darroux warns of political division

The Parliamentary Representative for St Joseph Constituency, Kelver Darroux, has warned his community about political division.

Darroux said despite the fact that he received the least number of votes in the Layou community, the needs of the people are being attended to.

“Too many times we allow politics to divide us and separate us. Here in Layou I receive the least amounts of votes and I did not turn my back on the people there. I made a deliberate decision to ensure that I invested in the education of the students from that community,” he said.

Darroux said he wants to ensure that the fabric of the community receives a proper education, which according to him is the backbone of turning one’s life around.

“This is the action of an MP who is concerned about the community and wants to see the young people improve their lives. This is a practical example. Many people will come to you and say things to you, but when it comes to getting things done they cannot be seen,” he lamented.

Three students from the St Joseph constituency received assistance from the Titiwi Education scholarship program this year.

Nichol Paul, Asher Augustus and Chris Bully received a cash donation from Darroux on Thursday.

The monies are expected to go towards the purchase of books and uniform for the entire academic year.

Oh Dear! Is this young MP changing from labour to something else? His is the very party that promotes division and all kinds of silly politics in Dominica. These folks who call themselves politicians in Dominica are just riding on the ignorance of the people, hence being able to stand up anywhere and brainwash Dominicans. Dominica is like going no where because of the division and all kinds of foolishness that is being displayed in every sphere of the society… Just listen to those so called politicians when its election time… its like a showdown of ragging men and women who would do anything to win a sit… Hardly do they deal with issues but its all about division and comess and mapweeeee! when elcetion is over they go back to church and so forth…. Its amazing how they begin with prayer den end up on the other side of the fence if you know what i mean! Silly season is drawing nigh no wonder so much old talk… Politicians must lead by example both in conduct and leadership. They must be shining examples to the young, knowing that they are being watched.. To much bad conduct in and out of the house of assembly… Politicians must learn to speak the truthhhhhhhhhhhh…..

Mr Darroux, Sultan is part of your constituency. When do you intend to make a deliberate decision to include Sultan in your agenda?

Mr Kelvar You are certainly in the wrong camp and whoever got you there, my grandmother would say that is “abuse”. Your government has been accused as corrupt and engaged in corrupt practices, do you have a voice to tell us in St. Joseph and Mero about this. Is this not accountability in high office…..shaking hands is NOT helping the situation……My Advice: Get out of this camp and fast too….” it is corrupt.

This is the man Kelver Darroux who has witness Gadakhan polluting the community of Layou never did or say anything, this is the Parl Rep who under his stewardship Saint joseph has become the poorest in Dominica, base on that track record and the election season getting closer off course he needs to surface from hiding, but with that track record the only thing he can do is to once again insult the constituents of Layou with a cheque.

    • One Eye Man
      August 16, 2013

Are you saying that Darroux waved his evil wand and WHAM! St Joe became poor? You guys can really type nonsense on DNO. St Jo’s issues began years ago long long before Darroux came into politics and it will take some time for things to turn around as it did not happen in a day or a political term. Darroux inherited the issue but it did not start with him so please spare us intelligent Dominicans your bull-crap.ok!

Did you read he said, “He received the least number of votes in that community but he did not turn his back on them?”
This should tell you that he was with them all along even though the majority of them did not vote for him. You must read, comprehend what you read and utilize your common sense.

    August 15, 2013

His words and actions sure sound and look like one that has already been defeated. Mr. Darroux, I know politics is a community divider but Kelver will agree with me that no one has divided the country as much as his administration has. If you go around the country you would realize that we no longer have Village / Town Councils that are voted in by villagers but rather most are manipulated by the DLP. In fact in some constituencies you will find that parlreps including the PM no longer meet with villagers but rather a selected group of DLP supporters. Another thing is, you all always talk about education as if education only began with Skerrit. FYI all three parties have invested heavily in education and what you all are doing is just a continuation of what you met. Miss Charles invested heavily in education, so to was UWP and now DLP. In fact both Mr. Skerrit and Vince are on record saying that education increased under UWP. So don’t think education is your trademark. The fact of the matter is, the DLP has failed the country miserably and offering handouts and come and blow a trumpet like you are doing now and as Mr. Skerrit did in the Carib Territory last week when he insulted the people about their 87 houses he put roof on and toilet is just not enough for a future. People need hope and an opportunity to stop being dependent on you all and that we know the DLP cannot change. In other words, don’t give me bread but rather give an opportunity to work so I could buy my own bread and enjoy the bread that I like instead of pein wassie that is given to me.

    • Justice and Truth
      August 15, 2013

Common sense dictates, it depends whom you support. From what I have read on this Website with obviously more in the future, I do not think it is the (all) politicians who divide but their supporters especially the non-supporters of DLP. Read the comments and note the thumbs down for those who support DLP. They are too visible. People must learn to be fair.

    • One Eye Man
      August 16, 2013

Whoever you are you sound too eloquent to present such a one sided argument so it is clear that you are anti-DLP. that’s ok you have the right to be where you want to be politically. You seem to forget the situation that UWP got us into in four and a half years of crazy management???? Where were you then, I guess you were hibernating. This party has made mistakes for sure and I hope they learn from them. However, our economy depends on foreign aid and the financial situation in the global market. We cannot survive without outside assistance and this DLP Government has been rowing our National Boat in a sea of Global Tsunamis and making good strides avoiding disaster. What Darroux is doing is what all politicians do earn political mileage that’s not new. If you have the evidence to prove, not allege, prove that there is a Minster of Government involved in corruption then you should know what to do with that information. It is sad that The Parl Rep assisting some students earns him such remarks as if he was doing something bad. I am Dominica are you?

Give give Give. That is all allu doing handing down.I am so ashame of we Dominican how we allow politicians to take us for ride.We gave them the mantle,,they asked us to sacrifice so much when they came in office and we so willing did.But what did they do when things looked as if it was getting better? They went buying all kind of expensive ride, building motels, travellingincreasing their salary, fixing road only when fete coming, giving all thei IEL and BESAWEL things for free while we the tax payers their struggling to earn a descent living.
Is this really fair to us Dominicans? I listen to them rant and rave about free thing but I wish I could work and buy my child school stuff.Which mother doesnt want to go by Jays? But we cant because we have no $$$$$.So we have to wait in Long line for books and wait for them to tell us is $250 we can get.

Really what have you done? Skerrit is the one under your watch who labeled your community severely indigent. Skerrit goes above you and right through you to give cheques to the council and other groups.

That is a panic reaction, but Dominicans are becoming impatient of corruption ,laziness, GREEDINESS, and ineptness.

A community does NOT become poor within four years. It is hard work from each family that helps make life better in any country. Sitting on the block, using and abusing illegal drugs, getting disoriented from positive things do not make a community rich.
