Labourites in Marigot may boycott upcoming by-elections

Embattled DLP nominee for Marigot Dayton Baptiste

Dominica News Online has learnt that several supporters of the Dominica Labour Party in the Marigot constituency could boycott the upcoming by elections carded for July 09, 2010.

Committee member of the DLP Constituency Association Harold Tyson has confirmed that he and a number of supporters have decided to stay away from the polls.

He said the decision relates to a lack of representation by the DLP’s choice of candidate Dayton Baptiste.

“We have taken a decision not to send an independent candidate but stick to our initial plan and boycott the voting because of the fact that a candidate was selected and he is not our choice. The gross disrespect that the party had for us over the past time has also resulted in our decision,” he said.

Tyson said “I believe we need to send a strong message to the electorate that they should not go to the polls and make these people understand that enough is enough. That’s for both the DLP and the United Workers Party,” he said.

According to Tyson, that could result in a low voter turnout at the polls on by-election day.

“If you walk around the community and you talk to the people, they will tell you that they won’t go to the polls again. They are claiming that they are tired and need better representation,” he added.

I think that Dayton Baptist is the right man for the job any how is it looked at. Edison betrayed the people of Marigot while Dayton has been taking charge to getting things done. Mr. Tyson on the other hand, PLEASE SIR, why don't you listen to your superiors, stop letting the greed of others for personal gains lead you into doing more harm to Daytons's chance of taking Marigot to the next level.

And sure, you'll be part of it.

Let all go out to vote in Salisbury and Marigot and give those guys, Edison ans Spaggs what they deserve.
Give the seats to the DLP.

It is rather unfortunate that the Labor camp is unhappy with the choice of candidate. But what do they expect? None of the labor leaders can be considered role models to the youth in Marigot. All they do is bicker among themselves, gossip, and create confusion. Check out the laborites they have not attempted to take themselves to the next academic level nor are they capable of demonstrating that they are street smart. Really, they do not seem to understand they limitations. So we will continue to see Harold attempting to remove Dayton's head and we will see them put people on their platforms to speak who will ridicule them and we will hear them use words like boycott because they are not able to create anything that will attract the Marigot population to transpose their thinking away from Edison to Labor. We in Marigot will not allow ourselves to be DISRESPECTED. We have always had candidates of substance, We can't now accept from the Labor camp anything less. That my friend would be retrogression. This is the 21st century we are moving forward not backward. We will vote for Edison so that we can proudly keep our heads up knowing full well that we were not bought for forty pices of silver.

I hope the people of Marigot constituency go out in large numbers and vote it doesnt matter what the DLP is doing let them fight each other but dont allow yourselves to be socked in the hoopla, the PM refused to wait for the COURT decision he wanted things his way and to keep the people believing it's the UWP that cause the bi- election but he himself said the money could be used for housing for the people of Marigot especially the Sam Guter area what happened to these people all these years people ask yourselves why now why is it so important to them , we are not for sale and we are not about to start taking hand outs just to vote for a Government who do not have the interest of all Dominicans as apriority.
I listen to the PM blaming the opposition party for creating this election and some people buy it Sunday evening I heard a woman say how is the money Edison want and that he jealous and saying to the PM hold on I am praying for you but that woman should have said she is praying for the island of DOMINICA instead and do not personalized the situation but those are the persons who do not even know what the CONSTITUTION have to say she wouldnt ba able to debate it and I am sorry for those who do not think before they go on the air to speak nonsense. Another said the PM haven got to answer those that are trying to say he want to have a one party State, why should he when he have them speaking for him.
Marigot people dont be fools and be very proud and go out and vote on election day, ask youselves what happen to the hospital, why didnt M'got get bus to take the children to school and look how good out children are doing, look at the fishery complex, look at Lio Park, and why is the school not completed, they are going to do to BAPTIST the very same way that Pat Steven ,Terry James , Richard Charles were treated by the political siystem well we had enough and we demand more.

Well we will see how many of you staying away from the polls on July 9. This is a historical period in the history of the country, and you all want to stay home and play games. You all behave worse than six year children who throw tantrums because they did not get their way. The so -called boy-cot you all want to stage cannot stop the democratic process. An besides you all are yet to learn who is really in charge of your country. This is becoming more and more of a JOKE ON YOU! At the end of the day, nothing really changes about who is really in charge of your country. The vote in Marigot will be insignificant in the grand scheme of things here in Dominica. As far as they-the powers that be, are concerned, Marigot is unfortuantely a route in and out of Dominica, so when you all carry on like you have so much significance, come July 10 you will find out that AINT NOTHING CHANGE! VOTE OR NOT!

    I doh buying that one!!!!

    Hell no….

All you DLP trying and work reverse psychology on Marigot People and that be unfair.

All you know Eddie going and whip DLP so all u want Eddie supporters to stay home and do turn out on election day and then all u going and go to d polls by 4:30 p.m. and when news will reach Eddie for him to say that his supporters did not get nuff time and how had plenty people waiting in line and could not get chance to exercise their democratic right.

All you doh do that to Poor old Eddie. All u want d man heart to stop or what? I cannot support that. On de surface all u giving impression as if all u know DLP going and loose but deep down all you want a low voter turnout to get d Marigot seat. ketch ya!!
