Political pundit and journalist Lennox Linton has accused Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerritt of being mendacious in statements to the people of Vielle Case and by extension the people of Dominica.
Linton made these statements while addressing residents at the Citizens Forum for Good Governance held in Vielle Case last night.
According to documents in Linton’s possession, the PM made statements on the declaration form, Form 13, of his nomination for candidacy for the December 2009 General Elections that he knew to be erroneous.
Linton pointed to a letter from Skerritt to the electors of the Vielle Case constituency, sent in December 2009, in which the PM stated that his possession of a French passport did not disqualify him from candidacy for election and that it was merely a ploy by the UWP.
Linton also read from the PM’s Form 13 in which he stated that he did not acknowledge allegiance to any other foreign power and that his statements therein were truthful, short of which he would be liable to fine and imprisonment. Finally, Linton read the PM’s letter to the Ambassador of France to the OECS in St. Lucia requesting renouncement of his French citizenship, dated five days before the December 2009 General Elections.
“He told you on the 17th of December 2009 that he was duly qualified, now he’s telling the French authority that he is not qualified and he wants to renounce his French citizenship so that he can be qualified,” Linton stated.
He continued, “Mr Skerritt is simply not being truthful to the people of Vielle Case. Are you the people of Vielle Case going to be known as being a people who consistently turn a blind eye to lies that you’re told to acts of dishonesty that are perpetrated against you and the people of Dominica?”

I will remain consistent in my attitude; While I admire the work that Lennox has done I am still of the opinion that Lennox and his cabal’s ultimate goal is to once again be in a position of Dominance or prominence. Lennox is obviously an intelligent man in fact I consider Lennox much more brilliant than the combine effort of Tony Astaphan, Skerrit and Saverin. I am however more than inclined to role with Lennox not because he is definitely intelligent but because Lennox has built himself a credibility account that people can depend on and that he Lennox must also dwell upon.
Even where the courts have ruled against Lennox the fair and just minded people know exactly what the truth is. In this Dominican era of lies begetting lies even Tony Astaphan the great liar has his own perception of truth. Up to this point I can’t find a reason to say that Lennox Linton is bent on deceiving the people of Dominica. Skerrit and Prime Minister Tony Astaphan are consistently scheming in lies, cover-up and concealment of gross government misconduct.
If Lennox’ claims were all concocted and fabricated it would prudent to totally ignore those claims. However the fact that Skerrit and PM Tony are always deploying heavy resources (police included) to extinguish Lennox’ burning fire tells me that Lennox’ fires are not just threatening but is likely to burn down a dynasty. Brush fires often burn themselves off – Skerrit and PM Tony would be happy with just a Brush fire at this time.
Why blame Lennox when he seem to be the only one in the game that is exposing the truth. In a country where Christian proselytize and tell us that Jesus is the only way the very same Christians dishonor and debase the work that Jesus Christ performed. Jesus stood up against the likes of Tony and Skerrit the ,corrupt work of political leaders, philosophers and corrupt religious leaders. Where are the Christians today? If the work of Lennox is in honor of the work of the great Jesus Christ then I must congratulate Lennox Linton for a job well done.
It is my hope that even when and if there is a UWP government Lennox will continue to stand for integrity in government

Every one keeps talking about the Constitution – well, in law… If it’s not explicit, it’s opened to interpretation! And I’d definitely say that what’s opened to interpretation is “by virtue of his own act”. Can we say that because his mother obtained the citizenship status for him, it was not by virtue of his own act, thus he is exempted from that hindrance? Or can we say, that by having a passport as an adult, which he renewed, is considered by virtue of his own act, thus he is under an acknowledgment of allegiance, obedience or adherence to a foreign power or state?
This is all open to interpretation. I say a passport is a benefit of citizenship. It is a privilege and a right of one’s status as a citizen. If one obtains citizenship by birth, by virtue of one’s parents, then one is not, by his/her own act, making the decision to choose allegiance or adherence to a foreign power. If one chooses to in adulthood, obtain citizenship, not a passport, but apply and obtain citizenship – then that is by virtue of his/ her own act.
We as Dominicans should all form our own opinions based on our understanding of the Law, not what others want us to think. Skerritt has chosen to show allegiance to Dominica – he took the steps to renounce his French rights by virtue of his own act. He has been in Dominica long enough to have established his allegiance to Dominica and to live and abide by the laws of Dominica…so if he claimed in the December 2009 letter to have no acknowledge allegiance to another nation, who is the UWP to say that his statements are untrue?
How many people would give up their British, American, Canadian, European or what other nationality they have, to return to Dominica as a citizen, if that were the choice? Trust me, many would only do it in the retirement age, after they have used the other system and its privileges, not as a young individual who has the benefits, opportunities and promises of a more developed place.

From reading some of the comments, I have concluded that there words are a sort of persecution and that they lack respect for the PM and his position. He does not deserve it.

How much $$$$$ did Linton force the culprits in the Rubbish Bin Bobol to pay back to our Treasury? They said they did nothing wrong but after revelations from Lennox Linton and pressure from the Public, the culprits paid back some of the money taken from the Treasury in that illegal secret purchase where prices of Rubbish bins were inflated to make profits for the FEW.
Imagine the Ministry and Minister of Finance implicated in that Bobol. Imagine in the buying of RUBBISH BINS which Solid Waste Dept could purchase with no problems. But some people were thinking of making money for themselves and their friends.
Of course Linton and other patriots need to try harder since people like you blindly support those in corruption, lying, stealing, cheating and involved in numerous illegal acts in the country. You refuse to see any light that will illuminate your path. You love to be in darkness. Drown in your arrogance.
While a FEW are getting richer the majority are getting poorer and you prefer to stand with those FEW even against your own self. Those people engaging in illegal activities day in day out? Serious pressure on you. Things are real bad and cannot be worse than that. Lennox could never come close to being part of the firebombing of Emanuel’s home.
