Linton humbled in being leader of UWP

Linton giving his inaugural speech in Castle Bruce as UWP political leader

One year after he was elected political leader of the United Workers Party, Lennox Linton, has said he is humbled by the “party’s vote of confidence in my ability to build and lead a team to conscientiously nurture and protect the public interest in the advancement of Dominica for all Dominicans.”

Linton was elected leader of the UWP in Castle Bruce on September 1, 2013 and in a statement said the party is prepared to lead Dominica out of the grip of the Dominica Labour Party, which he said has turned the country “upside down.”

“We resolved to prepare for the battle to lift Dominica out of the abyss of gloom and doom into which it was dumped by the Dominica Labour Party,” he said. “As our country yearned to be rescued from the grip of a Labour Party administration that managed to turn it upside down, inside out and back to front, we stepped forward with a renewed sense of purpose under the patriotic fervor of United Workers Party TEAM Dominica.”

Linton pointed to a number of achievements under his leadership that the UWP has attained. Among them are a convention rally, a job and economic forum, a national assembly, diaspora partnership tours, the “biggest youth” rally in St. Joseph, a first ever budget statement, an East2West Agenda for Change and the launch of the UWP’s website.

“We have awakened the sleeping flower… it’s time for it to bloom,” Linton said.

There is not way a free thinking Dominican can honestly compare Team Dominica to the mess we have seen DLP taken Da into.
They are so afraid that they do not want to clean the voters list.
Just as in Grenada, St.Lucia and Antigua , we in Dominica will vote out DLP.

If it wasn’t for Lennox and the fact that he is brave enough to challenge those corrupt people we have in Gov’t and expose their theft, Dominica would be like South Sudan, begging with many internally displaced people.
Keep doing the good job and do not pay attention to the greedy beneficiaries of DLP.

I congratulate Lennox and Team Dominica for the wonderful job they have done over the years by keeping Skerro and Tony from taking the Nation’s Purse and runing away with it.
This is a major achivemnet you all have done.
    Keep them on their toes!

What has Dominica become under this political party:the labour party started well and achieved in the early years.but has done very little in terms of job creation ,air access ,not many night flights or international big jets. The Dominican is a proud person they want work not hand outs.Change is the option :?:

Mr. Linton, since we all see you as an honest leader can you please answer the following questions:
    1. How long have you been married for?
    2. Where did you get married?
3.How many nationals including family and friends attended your wedding?
    4. What is the name of priest or pastor that performed your wedding?
    5. Was your wife ever married before she met you?
    6. If Yes, did you play any part in getting her to divorce?
DNO, I leave in the USA and it is the practice of Americans to know these basic things about their potential leaders before they vote them because honest answers to these questions will tell them what to expect from their leaders. Since Mr. Linton is seen as the next PM, I need to get his honest answers to all the above before I come down to vote. So please post my comment DNO so Mr. Linton could answer

Mr. Linton, you are simply the best! You are indeed an example to all of us and record speaks for itself. You never had to rush to do anything to win an election. I like many good qualities I see in you but I just want to touch one tonight. You taught me how to commit myself to one wife and be faithful and committed to my family. You honor holy matrimony and like many of us true Christians, will not encourage anyone to divorce their spouse and go and pretend to marry them in a secret early morning service. Like any good Christian you believe if what you are doing good and holy you will not have to hide and deceive the nation and religious leaders. You are indeed a good leader because by your fruits and practices we all know you. DNO please post my Kudos to a well deserving leader.

    September 3, 2014

The values of a good, honest, and truthful leader:
    1. A good leader believes it is wrong to STEAL and will not steal from the state
    2. A true, honest and good leader believes in the rule of law and will never encourage lawlessness and will encourage others to obey the law and constitution
    3. A true, good and honest leader will never send his people to hell and tell them it is not their damn business to know where he getting money from
    4. A good leader will NEVER cover and encourage crimes against others without pushing for an honest investigation.
    5. An honest leader will not encourage his ministers to get involved in money laundering
    6. A good, honest, and true leader puts country first instead of self.
These are all good qualities we have seen in Mr. Linton and that’s why we will vote BIG, come next election. Dominica badly needs these good qualities at this time.

Remember the days when Skeritt, Tony and Charles Savarin ridiculed the UWP for putting their manifesto on the internet, little did they know, the party was ahead of its time. After them fellers read the UWP website must be having a serious headache. I get the impression from supporters of the DLP they are very unhappy with Skeritt for having Mr. Linton join the political race.

Mr. Linton you are just a genius! You mean in one year you had the DLP to hire Charley Jung as consultant just to try to figure you out, and that obvious failure of the DLP, which cost tax payers $96K, is itching them? You mean in one year as leader of the UWP, you have Skerrit and is team still wondering who to contest against UWP in Wesley, Kalinago Territory, Colihault, Soufriere, Roseau North, Roseau Central, Roseau South, and Portsmouth? You really have them cornered boy! You are just a genius sir!!!

Just so you know Mr. Linton we cant fool the Almighty father. It is very clear that we need change in this country because the present regime is destroying all the fibre of the nation but Mr. Linton what you and Mr. James did to Ronald Isidore may just be the difference between your victory. I have know Ronald all my life and every reasonable young and old person in Mahaut know the lies you fabricated about Ronald will not go unpunished by the Almighty. The most you could do if you claim to be the leader that you said you are is to apologise to the man for damaging his character. I hope you see it in your heart to come clean.

    • 4u2C
      September 3, 2014

Isidore did himself!! No apology to Isidore cause no one damaged his character. Isidore is a good man but he is NOT the best man. He knows why and you should have a talk with him. Although I love his diplomacy in handling affairs he knows he felt short in redeeming himself. In that way CHANGE must come and he just has to stand down. Don’t blame Lennox and the Party for Isidore stubbornness and inappropriate behavior. God knows it all so talk to God and he will tell you more.

D people say change is a must and you see where they start making change in their own pot of soup. THAT ingredient, I presume was too out spoken in the soup, so the head of the cook decided no way that is trouble, so the other cooks agree for change without even thinking twice. The cooks listen to the outside ingredients without even getting the facts right, speculations, speculation, speculation. I do not know why you ingredients would not leave THAT INGREDIENT alone and check all you pot of soup on the fire. It needs more seasoning to taste good.

Thats a party that grabs the bull by the horn and makes decisions – just like when Eugenia Charles fire Babs Dyer from her Cabinet – because at the time he was not a team player- Pierro fired George from his CABINET – because he was found wanting; you see leaders make those hard and sometimes unpopular decisions in the interest of good governance – Lennox did just that . In comparison what has Skerrit done? Instead of weeding out questionable people among him he in fact hired them; example he take back a Minister who was fired three times from CABINET and the Government. He ran Urban Baron out of the party; he dismissed Ritchie Charles from Electoral Commission; he cannot discipline anyone now he have Tony have him like a juju; his Environmental Minister walked out of his CABINET uttering a set of bad word and Ian Douglas was live on the radio saying how untrustworthy the PM is once you turn your back he have so much to say about you; The Environmental Minister stay away from CABINET for how long in protest to his constituency being neglected and now the same Environmental Minister taking on the role of Minister of finance and money or moneyless affairs by inviting a new form of moneyless money into Dominica; Cabinet doh know; parliament doh know; FS doh know; Pirvate sector (DAIC) DOH KNOW; ECCB DOH KNOW ECCU Doh know and most importantly the people of Dominica doh Know nothing about the details- no white; green; red, YELLOW or blue paper for discussion but the Environmental Minister is agent – so take a leaf from leaders from the pass who had to fortitude to make decisions – now take that to your camp and start the cleaning process boss.

Why is it that whenever anyone questions Linton’s ability to lead Dominica, it is almost viewed as a cardinal sin? Although I am no fan of Skerrit, I am beginning to wonder about UWPs supporters. The party got even worst than it was under Eddo, I cant wait for election to be called so this party can die so a new one will be formed. This party just put Dominica in a place it should not be, a proper working country should consist of 12 to 13 for the ruling party and the rest for the opposition so when a referendum is proposed and needs voting on even if it’s your party or not you vote on what you think is right. I hate the idea of a one party state but the good Lord knows we been with a one party state for years cause these 2 seated constituency leaders of the opposition just keeps walking out instead of staying in the house and fight. I know how easy it is for you to think you doing the right thing and everyone around you agree to what you say this is a remedy for chaos but so far we’ve been spared but in the future I would rather see a balance house, I just wish if Francis would go up as an independent I really like this guy, but being led by this novice is just a shame.

So tell your party to call the election then……..why you all afraid. How long we asking for it.

You all should have no problem base on your comments.

Actually, the outcome of the general election will be 12-13 seats DLP and 8-9 seats UWP. The next general assembly will be a cage au folles.

Linton is a good director and visionary..

but dominica isn’t suited for his style of outreach in terms of bringing forth ideas back and forth…

The present day dominica acceptance of a twister and a liar as their Leader of the island tells you openly what dominica thrives on…

Boss, if you were able to do all that in one year, plus rekindle a broken party and unite a people, my God, imagine what you would do if you had 5 years.
When I compare you to Skerit,… chalk and cheese.
A+ for your report card Sir.
