A manifesto controversy

Leader of the ruling Dominica Labour Party (DLP) prime minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, has accused the leader of the United Workers Party (UWP) Lennox Linton of not being able to present a Manifesto for yet another general election campaign.

Skerrit, who was addressing thousands of supporters during the launching of the DLP 2014 Manifesto held at the Lily Valley in Trafalgar on Thursday night said, the opposition UWP revealed that information via a Facebook post on Thursday.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Dominicans, breaking news…I don’t gossip,” Skerrit said. “The Team Foo was under serious pressure from its supporters saying to them that Skerrit showed his manifesto last Saturday where is UWP manifesto? The UWP just posted on their Facebook page that they will have no manifesto for this elections.”

But Linton has shot back, describing Skerrit’s statements as “a total, absolute lie.”

The photo which allegedly appeared on the UWP's Facebook page

He said the photo which allegedly appeared on the UWP’s Facebook page was a “concoction.”

“It is a concoction photoshopped by the IT warfare experts within the Labour Party being paid for by the treasury of Dominica, the poor people’s money.” Linton stated. “What they did was they photoshopped a page using imagery from our webpage and they paste some nonsensical thing about we are not having a manifesto because it is still in production or some sort of nonsense.”

Linton made it clear that the UWP will be launching its manifesto in the week of November 24.

“We accept that on December 8th we are going to vote,” Linton noted. “We are moving ahead in the campaign for the election on December 8th. What is Mr. Skerrit so upset about our manifesto? Is it that he is not pleased about his? Is it that he is not satisfied with the contents of his manisfesto that he could leave it alone, he could set it aside and prioritized our manifesto which is coming and he is trying to tell the public that it is not coming, he is attracting more attention to the UWP.”

In his speech Skerrit described Linton as a “political fraud” and a “cursed man.”

“That is what I have been telling you for so many years that Linton is a fraud, a political fraud and there is no way we can elect Lennox Linton as prime minister of Dominica…,” Mr. Skerrit said. “In 1957 and 1961 Labour had a manifesto and you telling me in the second decade of the twenty-first century, with all the brains that they say they have in UWP, you cannot put a manifesto together?”

He continued, “God is good, God is really good because he has shown us that Linton is a political fraud ….Linton is a cursed man and the good Lord will curse him for disrespecting women.”

But Linton said that Skerrit is using the launch of the DLP’s manifesto to personally attack him.

“He comes to launch his party’s manifesto and find in that presentation time to attack me personally and Thompson Fontaine personally,” he stated.

Fifteen thousand copies of the DLP manifesto have been printed and are available at all the party’s constituency offices on the island.

The manifesto can also be viewed at www.labourkatwavay.com/manifesto.

Sometime I wonder what is really wrong with Mr. Skerrit. There are so many issues to deal with and instead of touching base on them he is more concerned with UWP and whether or not that they have a manifesto? Come on man

The honourable prime minister found Mr.George speech he was giving at the time to be lame and chose to conviniently cut him off in the middle of his speech, embarassing him completely having him not being able to even look directly into the crowd and at one point even seemed like he wanted to trash his speech in his back pocket.
At first i laughed and it seemed like a big joke, lord forgive me!, but now the opposition has spoken all i see is a Pm that thinks he is the gem of the Labour party because his colleagues praise him sooo much and for what? To embarass them publicly.
It should be me skeritt had take that mic from.TOE TO TOE BRO! I WOULDA TELL YOU GO BACK AND SIT DOWN, THAT WOULD HAVE ADEQUATELY RESPOND TO SUCH CONDESCENCE, TRUST ME.

Is that the words of a leader.
is that the example we want to pass on to our children.
dominica under this government has become a communist country.
One where a president was brought into power by force
One where business are force to shut down.
One where people is afraid of talking up for fair of losing there jobs.
Dominica policy are of those of the middle eastern country.
If dlp wins I am afraid of what dominica will become.

When last were you in Dominica? I suppose you heard some people make that statement and you followed suite without giving it much thought and doing your homework and research.
It appears you are not aware what goes on under your very nose in England. I would think that England is more of a communist, dictatorship country than Dominica.
You now have recognition of same sex relationships and so-called marriage which you dare not challenge and speak against publicly for that matter.
Similarly, you have the Muslim problem in all its force in England. They even have a community, an area which they took over where they live and shop. There is more, too much to mention.
Businesses all over the world are shutting down, going bankrupt. It is not contained to only Dominica which is a smaller island than those countries as England.
It is the height of ignorance and stupidity to refer to D/ca as a Middle Eastern country. Great Britain, under it’s prime minister has not advanced whatsoever. It is still a backward country in comparison to the US and Canada of all.
Recently, Scotland almost seceded from Great Britain. If matters were so good in G.B., they would not have had a referendum to become independent. They will try again.
Therefore, when you call Dominica a communist country and a Middle Eastern country, think of England which should be an advanced country. It is amazing that you still reside there. Many D/cans have left there some years ago. Some are residing in Canada and have done very well. They will never return to reside in England.
Lastly, what I have to state to you is, be sure brain is engaged before putting mouth in gear and your fingers to the keyboard and utilizing the sent key.

I think that we need to go to a quiet place in our home with no one around, and examine ourselves, reflect on the present situation in our lives right now, where we was before and where we would like to be, then make a decision on which party we should support.

    • The Facts

This would be a good idea. In the quietude of your home, reflection is good for the soul. You will then be able to make a wise decision. I think you will come up with and decide on DLP.

In my younger years the political party representatives would walk around with the manifesto to explain to the citizens their plans and proposals and leave a copy with them for further reference. In the past week I met a few red representatives walking around and still haven’t seen a copy of the labour party manifesto. I just don’t see the point of the PM wanted to burst a vein because the UWP has not launched or as he said they don’t have a manifesto.

    • The Facts
      November 16, 2014

There is a reason for all things. The representatives have seen the Manifesto and reviewed it. They know what it contains. No need to walk around with one and leave a copy with the constituents. It costs money to print them.
Furthermore, in this age of increased costs and cost-cutting, I would think this is the reason why they do not have a copy to leave with them. Think of that and do not let your mind work overtime.

I am a fed up UWP supporter. I will vote for my UWP candidate but I am disappointed with our leadership. I really thought we was ready and had our stuff in order. Truth is we should have had all our t-shirts, posters, placards and election gimmicks ready by now. Linton just messing with our chances, we should have stuck with Eddo, because this time around with Eddo we would have run ALP out of town. Now he talking about court already like he know something we UWP supporters don’t. Is that it Linton, are u saying we are loosing again. I vex bad. Change is a must, not an option. Cant we at least keep the faith, talking court means u have already lost faith and I hate that u would think that way.

If trees and bushes were money Dominica would have been rich. If a manifesto was development Dominica would have been very well developed…… If words could make you rich, Skerritt and the labour Regime would be much much much more richer……………………. If words were actions every Dominican would be living on a throne of Gold… So what’s the noise about a Manifesto, a set of Paper that doesnot make much sense to the poor because they don’t understand a quarter of what is written, maybe PM Skerrit should invest in a glossy magazine where he and is comrades could show off and look like rock stars……………………………………..
One sure thing is that the PM and his team are nervous and very shaky ,,,,,,, But its a long time lennox on the offensive so now is more fire….

    • The Facts
      November 16, 2014

They have a free mind and will to go to D/ca or not if they so wish. Can the IRS prevent them from going to D/ca to vote? Will the iRS penalize them? Is the IRS money used for their travel? Well, Linton will say anything to prevent them from voting for DLP.
There are some nationals from different countries who reside in Canada. They voted in Canada for their country. The government of Dominica will have to consider doing likewise in the future.

Its very much anti- Christian and pagan to use such harsh words…… Here is the PM asking God to curse Mr William…… Mr Skerrritt doesn’t realise that he is asking for trouble and even a surprise defeat and total colapse of his so called good fortune…
Alcoholic Anonymous has a saying: The first thing to leave a man when he loses focus is his spirituallity and it is the last thing to come back…….

Just want to remind MR Skerritt that he must never lose his cool and composure as a christian….Love your enemies and Pray for those who persecute you,,,,,, Bless those who curseeeeeee,,,,,,youuuuuuuu,,,,,,
Mr Linton on the other hand is showing real character by not responding to such harsh words and criticism with hatred but is responding by sticking to the plan.. Focusing on the Issues …………….. and its evident that the Issues got Mr Skerrit going wild,,,,,,,,,,
Mr Skerritt needs to exercise so self control and manliness as the country’s PM.
Mr Skerritt please remember that God is good to everyone not for you and labourites alone…………..
Politicians in Dominica need to lead by example…… and High ethical and Moral codes……
    wrong is wrong Mr Skerritt,,
Mr PM, what about the allegation of bringing in plane loads of Dominicans free of charge to vote in a government in a country they don’t or perhaps no longer call home? Is this good in the eyes of God or not?

This election is not a popularity contest. It is a presentation of honest ideas and dedication to our beloved Dominica. As a great lawyer will tell you, present your case and let the jury decide. We are suppose to be an educated country, let us display our intelligence in a healthy environment. The Prime Minister should have laid down the reasons why we should re-elect him and let us decide if he is worthy of our votes. All these extravagance and unhealthy words at his opponents should have been left out. No one is cursed Mr. PM. God loves us all. Please Mr. Prime Minister accept the fact that you are not the only intelligent person coming off the Common Wealth of Dominica. Indeed, there are many Dominicans who are much more intelligent than you but they are so humble you would not even know them. As Prime Minister, you have displayed a level of arrogance and have forgotten that you serve and represent ALL DOMINICANS. You should extricate yourself as being PM because you have certainly left labourites like me disappointed in your conduct. I was an admirer of Rosie Douglas. I went around with Rosie. I never saw Rosie belittle anyone. On the contrary, I saw Rosie engaging those who did not support him and tried to bring them along to support him. Rosie once told me that he was married to the people Dominica and his wife’s name was Dominica. Rosie gave whatever he had and could afford to anyone in need and always smiled and teased his opponents never denigrated them because he saw too many world leaders come and went. Rosie Douglas is responsible for those who are enjoying the fruits of the labour party today, but not one of you paid tribute to this loving man who gave his all for a better Dominica. The misuse of the UWP’s images and the fabrication of a website to spread lies about the UWP is downright dirty, and it is against the principles enunciated in the Election Code of Conduct issued by the Christian Council. The Council is now obligated to denounce this dirty trick. It must publicly denounce violations of the Code and call the violators to account. Failure to do so would call into question the credibility of the Council and its code.

So it’s 14 years and 3 manifestos later and what do we get yet again MANIFESTO #4. Is this not the SAME DLP that has been the government for the past 14 years? Why do you even need manifesto #4, your performance or lack there of should speak for itself. How many of the promises in the past 3 manifestos have been implemented? After 14 years your campaign should be simple…. “See we told you the things we wanted to do…. Look at that WE DID THEM”

The reality is all the promises all the manifestos of the past meant nothing. You guys have spent 14 years enriching yourselves at the expense of the Dominican tax paying public. When civil servants are promised 0 0 0 you guys gave yourselves 52% salary increase. In this world that we live where else does anyone get 14 years to prove themselves? If Dominica was a company and you were the executive would any of you still be part of this company after such terrible performance? But yet you ask for 5 more years.. TO DO WHAT

Why should the DLP concern itself with when and if the opposition party releases a manifesto? The opposition has been pleading it’s case for the past year with it’s plans when it gets into government. They even created their own budget for 2014/2015. Anyone who claims they don’t know… i can clearly say they don’t want to know. Their comments on here is just to aid in spreading the propaganda of the DLP. The same way you use your computer to come to DNO is the same way your computer can go to the opposition party’s website if you want to inform yourself of their plans..

Consider this why should the opposition party release it’s manifesto early to give the DLP enough time to copy their ideas which they are notorious for doing. The DLP wants to remain in government so they should think for themselves!

The DLP has a campaign strategy of avoiding all the important issues and their own bad performance but go after the opposition based on blatant lies and propaganda. They use Dominicans ignorance as a tool against them

My people do the research to inform yourself don’t loose focus of the horrible job the DLP has done over the past 14 years. Don’t let 30 days of glamour and flash fool you guys into 5 years of the destruction of our country.

Educate yourself and vote wisely this election!

A manifesto is a summary of what the parties intend to do over the elected period; The UWP is the only party over the last twelve months that have been religously articulating its plans and programs for the next five years in other words its manifesto. For those who followed the strategy of the UWP over the last few months would appreciate the fact that the guys have been doing a lot of consultations in and out of Dominica sharing their ideas for example the 21 in 25 tour of Dominica; the North American and European tours; the economic forum etc- and all the press conferences the radio programs all with the intend to bring out their programs in other words their manifesto in discussion. Example the 500 jobs in three years; the building of an international airport; the re-vitalization of the agricultural sector; the building back up of our local government system; making Dominica the best place to work, live, and enjoy; strenthening our institutional capacity; etct etc- so all that is neede is it to put in print form. So now they have consulted, gathered information and data they are analysing and putting it together – the moral of the story is that quite a lot of thought and detail will be in the UWP manifesto and I am prepared to wait for it because knowing Linton it will be well put together document.-

Who determines strategy? Skerrit or UWP? Tell Mr. Skerrit check DLP business let the UWP decides when best to launch its manifesto. This is so childish. One party tearing down another over manifesto. Come on Mr. Skerrit take a chill pill. This is irrelevant.

Mr. Pm My question to you is if you are so confident on winning the elections why each and every campaign you host all you do is try to bring down the opposition? If you want to convince more of the people to vote for you shouldn’t your speech be based on what you can do for their development rather than trying to tarnish Mr. Linton’s reputation? Bringing down someone else doesn’t make you higher it only means that you are already at the bottom so you trying to bring them down with you. The same followers who repeat these things after you are only illiterate. And they are the same set after elections sitting on the side of the road with no jobs. Screaming labour should have gotten you a job. Dominicans open your eyes. Do you want to sit waiting for handouts the rest of your life? How long will these handouts last? During campaign time you let umbrellas, shirts and free drinks and all sorts of things fool you…after elections what do you have??

I hope Dominicans are reading right through Mr.Skeritt comments. He is trying to make Dominicans afraid of Mr.Linton by saying all these rubbish about him and how he isrespect woman, about he is a fraud and he is cursed. The sad thing is there are a few Dominicans who acctually believe that rubbish. I hope the see that instead our talking about the contry’s future the skeritt DLP is just trying to find way to make people afraid of the UWP and Mr.Linton. Thank you lord for the day I learned to read and listen, if it was not so, i think i would be sold on the skeritt rubbish. I think the UWP should continue on their path and keep their campaign clean . The sad thing is half of the people getting the DLP manifesto only look at the pictures. “Garson mi ou bell potway” yap most of them can’t read it. I you are following what is happening on Dominica and in people pockets, you do not need a manifesto to vote against the DLP. I hope Dominica do not let the foolish statements by the PM confuse them and distract them from the real issues.

I saw the live video feed of the DLP meeting at Lily Valley last night on Marpin. I was flabbergasted when I saw Skerrit push Ambrose George aside and took the mike to reveal the most absurd of announcements. It is disturbing to witness and furthermore when the other party members and the rest of the island at large don’t grasp the situation.

Furthermore, for the agents of the DLP to fabricate such a bold LIE and present it as truth or verifiable fact is VERY DISTURBING. Whether or not one supports the DLP, this action must be met with great condemnation.

This is a shame and disgrace!

The ability of Prime Ministers to call elections in Dominica when they desire makes it hard for the opposition to prepare. If the opposition uses its resources to prepare a manifesto and prepare a campaign too early, then the incumbent can simply postpone the election by making no announcement, allowing the opposition’s campaign plans to fall into obsolescence. At the other end, with the entire official campaign period typically only about a month long, there is precious little time for the opposition to prepare a manifesto, a campaign, and work out policy positions on which to run for office.

Mr. Linton, this race is for the swift and the strong. As we get closer to the finish line, you appear to be fading fast. An apparent lack of urgency in presenting your party’s manifesto or statement of purpose has made you seem lackadaisical and weak. Even your staunchest supporters will agree you have been very tardy in delivering your plan of purpose. To tell me that Lennox said the manifesto will be launched during the week if the 24th Nov …but you have Charlie Jung hack the facebook page to say they don’t have a manifesto…to add insult to injury , you then announce that at your rally….so you cook up a lie and turn it into breaking news.

First of all, I heard mr. Linton say to Matt Peltier on his programme on wednesday that his party would produce a manifest on 24 Nov. So I don’t know why mr. Skerrit apparently did not know that last night when he started ranting an raving that he had breaking news tht UWP would not have a manifesto.
Whoever advise the P.M. did not help him but made him look ridiculous. That was very embarrassing.

Secondly, I think that mr. Linton’s strategy to delay his party’s manifesto for the week after next is sound.
    1) Mr. Skerrit has already shot his bolt.
    2) by that time many of the printed DLP manifesto’s will be scattered to all corners of the the wind and forgotten.
    3) The opposition will have had ample time to disect and study the DLP manifesto and taylor theirs accordingly.
    4) It will be much closer to the election and be fresher in the memories of the voters.

It appears to me that there seems to be many UWP supporters that are displeased with the party’s timing of launching their manifesto and other general party affairs. This would be commendable and I would want to applaud the sincerity of the UWPites. However if one looks closer at the postings it appers that this the work of one individual who I daresay is not a UWP supporter. You see, there is such as thing known as IDEOLECT which basically means the way that one speaks or write. No individual has the same speech or writing pattern. This fact is used by profilers to authenticate speech and writings of criminals. It is even used to discern when one is under the influence of another person.

As to the subject at hand; what is this fascination of the prime minister with the opposition manifesto. My gut feeling is that the prime minister has already gotten a copy of such manifesto and is therefore worried about the impact of the opposition’s manifesto on his campaign.

I have been observing the political situation in my beloved Dominica and am very sad and disappointed by the political parties and supporters in the way they are getting on. It is quite embarrassing the manner in which we are deciding the fate of our nation. But voting is a democratic right and responsibility even when the options at hand are less than appealing. Who is more capable? Who is less likely to jeopardize our fate? Who is more ready? Sad approach to voting but that’s the more sensible way. And with that, I had to observe that while one group have been claiming to be ready any time and the other was playing games to set the stage for the next 5 years, one group still shows up as not ready. Disappointed. With or without an election date a manifesto should have been ready ahead of time. It should have been circling the hands of citizens months ago because they should have been ‘that’ ready – yes, that committed to change. Sigh… guess we have to go with who is prepared, even if they had the advantage the other team showed up unprepared. Less and less do we have a choice. Sigh

We will see who is prepared or not prepared, manifesto or not, to present our manifesto early ahead of time gives Skerrit opportunity to steal our ideas, classic example the international airport, creating 5000 jobs in three years caused skerrit to come up with N E P and the list goes on
15 years with a declining economy, no agricultural export, no manufacturing, no industry, declining tourism, jobs such as state college -Chinese, stadium- Chinese, west coast road -Chinese, Cane field to Melville hall airport road Gadakan, export of our pumice Gadakan, State palace loan for Dominicans to pay with interest, job Chinese, social security going brokes local private sector going out of business, Q95 Live programme declared skerrit took more than a billion dollars loan from chine without declaring it to he nation is that readiness,7 diplomats in Monaco, is that readi ness world most wanted criminal our ambassador to the F A O is that readiness?

A dignified decision have been made to announce the election date to put the populace at ease. In a democratic environment each party should focus on their agenda to bring about much needed change for the advancement of Dominicas. That’s what the focus should be about.

Whenever one party publishes its manifesto is immaterial provided its strategic planning is timed to coincide with the build up to the election. What is the panic when a manifesto is publish. If one side of the electoral divide has its manifesto then GREAT. Lets not use immature, petulant tactics to deflate away from the real issues of poverty, crime, inequality, unemployment and injustice.

    • Ba You Bwa
      November 14, 2014

In local parlance, Awah! That will not do. The launch of a manifesto during election time is not only the tradition, but also an academic exercise – indeed a practical and pragmatic demonstration of a party’s serious attempt to present its plan to undo the very afflictions that you identify: crime, poverty, inequality, unemployment and injustice. The ruling party has shown its hand in that endeavor.

That Team Dominica can not – not now, not during the last election cycle – present a comprehensive, coherent and cohesive plan for Dominica’s development is fast becoming legendary. After months of declaring, “We are ready for the next election,” and taunting the Prime Minister to “Call it nuh,” it is now clear that the UWP was masquerading their readiness for the polls, let alone lead Dominica, by engaging in empty rhetoric.

Dominicans need less hyperbole, insults and uncivilized talk and more education from both parties about what they intend for the country.

Nothing less will do. Times are too crucial!

Team Dominica has talked, almost incessantly, about what they would and wouldn’t do if they were victorious at this general elections. However, one of the truths that I’ve learned in management these days is: “If your plan is not in writing, then it does not exist.”

Now that we are in the Internet age, the barrage is even worse. The launching of the DLP’s Manifesto, I believe, was to highlight the achievements of the Government and to present an outline of plans for the future.
Taking time out to personally attack the opposition with regards to their Manifesto is, of course, way off subject as the Prime Minister changes the focus from his Party’s plans to make it seems like it is about a “Manifesto Competition”!
If Dominicans on a whole do not find this a bit troubling and, at best, laughable they are not keeping up.
Dominicans a Manifesto does not improve the DLP’s mismanagement of the Country’s purse. The facts are we are not growing our economy from within but we continue to borrow by the millions. This is not proper fiscal practice anywhere in the world!
The issues of jobs and monies not accounted for still hangs heavily over the Prime Minister’s head. Thus, no matter how pretty and well put together this Manifesto may be it still does not address the real issues that are crippling our economy. Getting millions from China, Venezuela and Morocco just to name a few, proposing numerous new projects that remains dependent on foreign aid and showing off how many millions can be spent on a campaign does not make for a better Dominica. Not as long as farming remains an afterthought while crippling rural villages, not as long as thousands of young men and women (educated and uneducated) cannot find a decent job, not as long as the cost of living keep rising and rising while wages keep stagnant, not as long as our Prime Minister and his gang keep getting wealthier each year while the average Citizen’s life become harder and harder each day.
As long as these issues aren’t addressed I will use several copies of this Manifesto as toilet paper since it is becoming harder and harder for me to purchase any!

Skeritt is making it to easy for Mr. Linton and UWP Team Dominica. A week ago he made a fool of himself by telling the public servants that they were paid back the 5% salary cut, low and behold, Mr. Letang, General Secretary of the Union publicly denied that his members had received any payments. In one breath he says, UWP is receiving million of dollars from colonizers, in another breath he says, UWP is broke. Why don’t you shush. Money is and was a contributing factor. It is necessary in politics to get your message out in order to convince people that yours is the better plan. It’s that simple. Get to under stand the nature of electioneering and politics.

It is quite sad how the PM says he loves the people of Dominica and in the same breath fill their lives with lies about the opposition.

Shame on you Mr. PM. The World is watching. those Lies you’re telling the people will someday be your bedtime story.

It is you my brother that is cursed. That you would resort to fraud… …about what? UWPs manifesto. If I was like you..I would tell you”it is not your damn business” but I will let Dominicans say it loud on December 8th. You presented a manifesto . For every election and this one. Where are we now vis your previous manifestos?.

UWP will present their Manifesto in due time. Don’t tell us when to present our manifesto. Don’t burst your vein…take it easy.

Skerrit take your words back! you are the curse one . You are the foo one . You are the one which received a cross or whatever it was from the illunmati group.
These are words that are coming out from a PM of a country and I suppose take my hands and put an X by you. You got to be kidding me.

Why he trying to turn it around like Skerrit is UPSET abt their manifesto or lack there off. All Skerrit say is they have none yet again, how is that being upset. This backing and forthing again has turned into rum shop maypwe. Lennox aint nobody say the man upset, where and what you all do with or without a manifesto thats uwp business. I would be happy if you did have one though ill wait til next week to read it before i can decide who not to vote for., if i vote at all. At least id like to see exactly how uwp is going to do alllll what they say they going to do and if their plans which initially sound like pie in the sky and crack pipe dreams are actually viable and doable. Like Jospeh Isaac saying they want to put a swimming pool in the High Street area where olympians can “practice” for olympics. you train for the olympics Joseph, not practice. Anyway i waiting for the manifesto Lennox, passit when it ready.

If so many learned men cannot prepare a common manifesto on time, even after they have viewed copies of several regional manifestos, how will they work on national projects within a time frame?
They knew of the expected date of elections, they had money to tour the world, they are well educated, well connected men, they taunted for the election date – “Call it nuh”. Now that polling date is called the best they can do is conjure up smoke screens and give excuses in place of a manifesto. Shame! An insult to Dominicans!
I can only conclude that it is not so much that they are not ready, but they don’t care to ready themselves. So they play with Dominicans, insult us and see how much we will take.
Since we have been taking well, they are now giving us their brown kaka and telling us it is fruit cake. They ease back and laugh as we fight each other to gobble it down.
In assessing the situation I find that there is a time in the life of a political party when remaining in Opposition for the benefits that can be derived (from both local and overseas sources) is the objective. It seems to me that the UWP is in that time zone.

Why are you guys so obsessed with a manifesto/?I have been 20 years in the USA and I have never seen a manifesto of any of the parties.I have shaken hands with governor,,sit and talk at my house with my district rep. and have never been handed a manifesto .all they talk about is what they have done. A manifesto means nothing. Are you Dominicans want to be the laughing stock of the Caribbean?

    • November 14, 2014

Do you need a manifesto to vote? I thought you all wanted a better way of life. Why are so many of you complaining when you are reluctant to find out whether or not the grass is really greener on the other side. VOTE YOUR PAIN.

It is obvious that desperation is really setting in in the Prime minister’s led Deception Lies Propaganda (DLP0 campaign, when he cannot tell the electorate what is it he and his party intend to do differently, over the next five years for which they are seeking another term. Instead, he is preoccupied with the opposition’s manifesto.
Mark you this is the same people who some years ago dismissed manifesto, as not been relevant. But you know the concept of deflection, deception, lies, and propaganda, in the absence of any thing of substance to offer the electorate.
What is more troubling, is the fact that this propaganda is been funded by the taxpayers, in paying someone employed by the labour party, to hack into the opposition’s websites, including their Facebook page, and insert these lies.
I was very pleased with the response give by the UWP Team Dominica Leader, although I was disappointed in Matt for rebroadcasting such propaganda.

Why is the PM so intimidated by Linton? If I recall correctly, it was he who told Mr Linton to “come into the ring”. This is a democratic nation and because Mr Linton accepted the challenge of joining the political arena, he is now considered a “political fraud” and a “cursed man”… why? Is this the level that politics in Dominica has dropped to? If so…it does look very promising.
