We would like to see you in the house debating the issues of the day, challenging any new legislation being passed in the house thereby making the people aware of the pros and cons of these new laws being enacted and being able to decide for themselves if they are worth being written in as laws in D/ca. Do not take the position that you are the minority and any legislation before the house will be passed anyway. You will be doing Dominicans a favour by keeping their eyes open. You will therefore have a wider audience and will gain the respect of a lot more Dominicans by showing them your point of view. Remember the late Eugenia Charles, Michael Douglas etc. They debated the issues thereby revealing any hidden agena by the government. This could prove to be very fruitful come next general election.

The monkey tune continues. Some advice for Ron: Ask the council to allow all you to use the school bus from Grand Fond to transport the people from Riviere Cyrique and Morne Jaune. I know Mr. Brown wont be there because he is too busy in his district. He is a real worker. Parents do have head ache any more for bus.

Thanks for educating the people. The young people must know that it do not have to be that way. They do not have to beg for survival, but they can be prosperous when they are given economic freedom to earn their own money.

This is really sad that at this time in our existence that propagandist are claiming sucess for politicians when government resurface some existing delapidated road or the construction of a minor retaining wall or additional street lights. Got to be kidding me. Makes me wonder whether we are truly in 2011 or 1960.
This is exactly the propaganda used by the Freedom Party and the UWP during their reign of power. How long are we going to settle for such level of performance by politicians. Is that all we want – little retaining wall here or there, a patched up or band aided road way in morne rachette or Dubique.? Is that it? After 11 years in power this is what we acclaim? What a F*****king shame when people are still unemployed , farmers are abandoning their plantation, the population is dwindling due to migration of the youth, cruise ship hauling off, local buisnesses shutting down and giving way to Chinese businesses.
In this present time central government should not be focusing on building a little retaining wall in morne prospere. These little chores should be performed by local government. The politicians use these little projects to shine the light on their behind while they keep climbing the financial ladder of success. The poor people remain ignorant and then come election they burry the people’s aspiration with a few cheap Chinese p[roducts , a sporadic fifty dollar bill, a drink at a rum cabawe.

I am appealing to all Dominicans to rise up against such low politics be it from red green or blue. Y ; We deserve much better. It is not surprising that when central government must perform within there true role the fail miserably. Central government has failed in creating forward progress for Tourism, Agriculture and manufacturing. The central government ha failed to strengthen the foundation required to boost employment both in private and public sectors.

Smarty Jab I’m so sorry that you are just a victim of this political miscarriage. It is obvious that you are totally ignorant of the fact that the excuse of “it should have been done 40 or 50 years ago” is just a smoke screen. This is an excuse used by DFP, UWP and now DLP. Note that before the DFP the patrick John administration had the very same excuses.
So – can I assume that those little local government projects should have been done 6 to 8 years ago?
The Soufrier sea defence is not a minor project by our standard. I specificallysaid retaining wall. I hope I dont have to explain to you the distinction made between the sea defense and the gravity retaining wall mentioned by the X factor.
Jab the problem with our country primarily lies within the inability of the people to be independent minded .If you are asking me to seat by and say nothing while the country is stagnant you got it twisted my friend. I am not a supplicant to this government nor am I a patriot to any political party. It is sad that you are so blinded by party politics that your destiny is in the hands of a few idiots who are only concerned about themselves. I suggest that you open up your mind and educate yourself.

Why don’t you get up from your tired perhaps lazy self and do your part. Like Jab rightly said it is a shame that things that should have been done 50, 40, 20 15 or 12 years a go should not have been this present government’s responsibility if you Tired , and all those before PM Skerritt had played their part responsibly . I want to know what is preventing you from investing in the building of a retaining wall or the resurfacing of a road.

      • huh( tedash )
        May 11, 2011

why you people so naive. are you saying that the roads from roseau to portsmouth was nerver resurfaced. How many roads were built under fredom party .

Freedom may have not built as much sea defence wall as the governmentt of the day but back then they would used these wire form basket filled with river stone ( plenty of us parents work there included my mom) and these lasted quite a while. Moreover those were paid for by central government unlike , apart from the chinese ,most of the defence wall thats being done under this administration is from grant fund after a disaster..therefore,had there not been a disaster these walls would have still been unbuilt today .
Its the responsibility for any government to improve and mentain the infrastructure of its country , that was inherited upon taking office.
Records will show that all parties that has been in government in dominica has played there part in improving the infrastructure of dominica from roads, hospital, school , office complex ect. After all this is the easiest thing for a government to do . My daughter at age 7 has already indicated that we need to upgrade the portsmouth hospital.

We need to raise the bar that we are holding these politician . In 2011 we can’t look at a drain , resurfacing a road or a sea defence wall . any blind man in office can do that.
we need these guys to be innovative and creative, design and implement policies and project that have a sustainable impact on the development of all .
Not like the stadium ( big white elephant) where we will never earn the annual mentainance cost of it throughout the medium to long term.
Lets talk about manufacturing, establishing new markets for various product, improving competitiveness in the tourism industry, international airport, hotels , althermative source of energy( be it geo thermal or wind ), sports tourism , development of the entertainment industry , Increase salaries and wages and by so reducing cost of living .

yoh know what if you all can’t see the importance of electoral reform in you all contry then you all will not see anything else. Just like you all could not for see that night landing would have not solve the airlift problem thats negatively impacting the tourism industry. remember i said before if all plane cannoit land in they how the hell they will land in night. Lol
and a more serious note i am saying that after all these ongoing projects are finish more people going to be hungry next year than this year. Since not one of these project going go have a sustainable ecnomic impact .

Thank you tedash. Ignorance is a bliss- contentment through ignorance. The politicians expolit the ignorance of the people. This is one thing that Tony and Skerrit understands that’s why they are getting away with such recklessness.
It is heart breaking to see such a high level of ignorance. Sometimes all it takes is simple logic and a desire to be independent. So many of our people are just happy to achieve the Dominican Dream which is a cheap T-shirt , a coffee mug, a few drinks, a few red clinic dollars and some plwood at the dawn of every election. The party in power then resurface a few existing roads , rebuild a school facility , one or two retaining walls and then acclaim praises for their 5 years of office. These politicians have the audacity to claim credit for Maintenance work in Dominica.
Well people be satisfied with Maintenance governments not those who are creative and innovative because with our geographic and rugged identity there will always be a need for road repairs , sea wall defences, a light pole here and there etc.

the people’s parliament is n the house of assembly ron.will u stop wasting ur time and the we who voted u time.bullllsh**…………bullwhippppppp

  11. Hello
    May 11, 2011

I thought the “people’s parliament” was a coming together as it were of a number of individuals opposed to the Roosevelt Skerrit led administration and was not necessarily a UWP thing. In fact when the “people’s Parliament” was announced following the December 19 2009 humiliation of all opposition, it was Sam Raphael who took the leadership role. What has happened since then that would make the “people’s parliament” becoem a UWP activity. See the Grand Fond session will be led by a “panel of UWP parliamentarians”.

The chicken has come home to roost and we now see that the “people’s Parliament”, “People’s movement”, “people’s rally” is nothing else but a stage managed public manifestation of the UWP. No wonder the attendance is what it has been. The same people (charles, bruney, Linton, Athie sometimes, Don c, Lugay, Cleve, Roy, Eddie, Ron etc, etc over and over and over again.

The UWP will just not learn. They have lost support. Four thousand less votes in December 2009. Since then many more have left being sick and tired of the same tried and tested antics let my ‘in the morning” and “between You and Me’. It is just not working.

Ron you are wasting ur time. U seem to be left in the dark, Let me enlighten you on what is taking place or has taken place in the constituency so far.

1.The Morne Jaune village road is complete, from the entrance all to way to Lagon. Also additional
street lights added to make it safer for people at nights.

    2. The Road leading to the Health Centre in Riviere Cyrique is under construction and that’s the first phase. The second phase leading to the playing field will begin shortly after.

    3. The extension of the water supply to Frayal is on the way to begin.

    4. Like Morne Jaune additional street lights along the roads to make it safer for walking at nights.

    5. The wall next to the pentecostal church in Riviere Cyrique is near completion

    5. The entrance of the Grand Fond road to St Kitt river is complete.

    6. The playing field is under construction. A retaining wall is being built as I write.

    7. The water project is soon to be built in the next 2 months or so.

    8. The bakery road in Grand Fond is complete.

    9. There is a farmers group formed under this administartion that is vibrant.

When last has this level of devlopment taken place in this constituency. You all stayed in power for 4 1/2 yrs and did nothing. Our eyes are open now Ron, We no longer want to remain in opposition. Forward ever Backward never. Long live The Hon.Roosevelt Skeritt and the Labor Party.

U seems to have all the info

Tell us how many jobs was created by these projects for your constituents . More so how many shcool graduates were able to find MEANINGFUL job throught the last fiscal year. Tell how many job will be created as a result of the completition of these projects.

TELL us how much the average man earn daily ,weekely.or monthly in your constituency . More so compare today earning versus the last ten years , then indicate to us the percentage increase in earning .
Next look at the consumer price index for dominica( check eccb economic review) . look at the percentage rise in that index across the same period in which you are looking at salaries.

Compare the rise in the CPI versus the rise in salaries and indicate to us about the cost of leaving ur constituents are facing.
whats the status with health care facing ur constituents . did the school in ur constistuency increase its cirriculum over the past 10 years . if so please indicate.

Indentify one sustainable ( keep people working at least for the next 10 – 15 years) projects that is about to begin in your constituency .

Finally , i want when you drive by looking at idle men and women sitting on the new wall or on the sides of the newly repaired roads with no work to do , you will Jump up and say WOW MY GOVERNMENT WORKING .

      FOOD FOR THOUGHT :

Why is it that Dominica along with one other OECS country is not making their paymnets to petro caribe and that venezuela is planning to terminate the initiative. ( remember you heard it here frist)

why is it that some of the saving from the initiative was not reinvested at a higher interest rate ( according to the deal when the price is above a 100 US per barrel 50 % of cost is finance at 1% interest over 23 years payment plus a grace period of 2 years.) Imagine putting 60-&70 % OF THAT AMOUNT on a fix deposit earning about 7% per anum. by the TIME the debt mature we will have enough money in the bank to repay. the remaining 30 % could remain being squandered in the red clinic and housing . though i would have done otherwise .

This brings me to the point of central governmnet debt.

Why is it that the government is not willing to disclose the amount of debt accumulated under this initiative.
why is it that we decided the contry could not afford an international airport and accused the former administration of irresponsible borrowinngs and today money that has to be repaid to venezuela is being wasted in the red clinic or renovating faithful supporters house.
