As a Dominica Labour Party supporter I have only one thing to say to the UWP – THANK YOU!

The blatant corruption and total ineptitude displayed by the UWP, during their brief tenure in office and their complete lack of vision while in opposition, not to mention their total lack of understanding of the political climate in Dominica, has made possible the continuing victories at the polls for the Labour Party.

We need the UWP, with their confused multitude of leaders and their focus on non-issues, because as long as they remain the main opposition party there is no threat to the continuing development of the country under the Labour Party.

So thank you Edison, thank you Ron, thank you Sprags, thank you Sanford… the UWP may be the first party in history of politics to have more leaders than followers.

Why don’t these bunch of unwanted walkout party (UWP) find more creative and productive activities to do? Claudius has no shame it seems. IT was this UWP who blocked the road at hattern garden to prevent people of the kalinago from going to their home during 2005 elections now they are caling on the same people to come to listen. someone should bring them some egg to accompany the cake.

I fully endorse your demands but please tell me how are your elected parlimentarians to make those demands when they continue this TOMFOOLRY by boycoting the legitimate parliament and participating in a RUMP PARLIAMENT which has no authority .This idea of a RUMP par;liament is not a novel idea Oliver Cromwell tried it and we all know what the outcome was, history was not kind to him

@ Kalinago: Could you kindly show me the latest manifesto of the UWP please? I’d like to have a physical copy in my hand for analysis and review. Thank you so much, I’d really appreciate the assistance.

I agree Kalinago with you to have demands. Everyone has demands, the question is, if the UWP is elected today, can they meet those demands? All I hear right now are allegations of corruption. Yes we must expose corruption, after exposing it, what can UWP do for the people? Who will be the leader of the UWP? Do you remember what Ron Green told BBC when he was asked regarding corruption from the DLP administration? I look forward for a prompt feedback. Maybe you have something very valuable to contribute to this forum today. Thans.

the false prophet of the united worker party I am aware of their mother is asking for them. They use their grain more than their brain, take for instant Green is not from Laplain and Prevost is not from Roseau, but they want election in constituences that do belong to them. Why Eddo cannot resign and let Green go up for election in Marigot then he will be party leader and opposition leader instead they stay like Kerly. Larry and Moore. I am classifying the People’s Parliament as a bunch of terrorist planning to insite problem in the country. Skerrit must be careful with this terrorist, they will be just like Dramatin R Muslin in Grenada when they overthrew Morris Bishop. That a serious matter and concern if a big cock talk to Green ( I mean rooster) will he answer. Tell all of them (LPM) (TBM) and (LCM). Skerrit is going to the next level but workers is going to the next devil. For the by-election they sold one in Marigot and one in Salisbury for the next devil.

The United Workers Party is working very hard in its rebuilding process. Please help the party in taking Dominica to a higher level. I think concern Dominicans must help the party by attending the meetings and travel to the reserve to the people’s parliament on the thur 26 January. Good things take a little time. The party is working now, join the fight and help in the rebuilding process. God bless Dominica.

What country are you in? The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica is building our beloved nation just fine thank you. The UWP had their chance, and were proved lacking in all areas. We do not want the corruption and failed policies of the past as represented by the UWP. We will stick with the visionary leadership of the Dominica Labour Party and continue on the road to sustainable development for ALL DOMINICANS!

I believe the united worker party should start concentrating on Establishing a more Vibrant party and Don`t have to wait when Election is near for them to look for people to represent them. you all can`t be a solid team when allu primarily focus is backlashing the Government. I certainly not in favor of the mismanagement and transparency of this Government.

we in the diaspora a looking forward of seeing you all grow. Edo still has potential in politics and that is why skerrit want to provide security for him, becuz he is an asset to the people of this country.

The United Workers Party fails to listen to it’s supporters. There is no defined leader! These guys need to build up this party quickly because the situation is really bad. Oppositions are very important in a country. It keeps the current government in check.

    Let’s see what happens.

    • My point
      January 26, 2011

What do people mean by the erroneous statements made by many that the Opposition has no defined leader. Some seem to be alright with a leader who exercises dictatorship rule. One man, Skerritt, is monarch of all he surveys. He is the party and the DLP Party is Skerritt Many boast that Skeritt is popular that is why most of the DLP politicians won their seat. People say that is Skerritt they vote for not Rayburn or Mc.Intyre or the DLP Party. What Hogwash. Without him there is no DLP. Is that why Skerritt does what he wants, when he wants, how he wants and everybody else has to protect him and condone his enrichment and any other wrongdoings?

The Opposition has a structure, a President Edison James, Leader of the Party Ron Green, Deputy Leader Claudius SanFord and an opposition leader Hector John. Ron Green could not have been Opposition Leader because due to the Fraudulent elections of December 2009, his seat was stolen from him. The fact is Dominicans have not begun to understand and embrace the concept of JOINT LEADERSHIP.

Skerritt and his DLP Party believes in unilateral dictatorial leadership. That is, only Skerritt calls the shot. One man rule and everybody else is under his feet. In a democratic Party, who says that anyone with the ability and capacity cannot speak with authority on behalf of the Party on any issue, after the issue is discussed among Party members? The Opposition feels confident that any one of the four mentioned are capable to speak and represent the party. That is Joint leadership. That is what Dominica needs not a person who rules as a dictator with his main spokesman Tony Astaphan as his PROP.

My friend I do understand your point. Let’s look at the situation objectively. One time on the news the leader is Hector, then it’s James, then it’s Ron Green. Who really is the authority in the party was really I asked. Thanks for clearing this up for me. However, if Ron Green did not win his seat, then Hector should be the leader of the party, the opposition is generally the leader of the party, am I not correct?

I understand your point regarding Skerrit. Since this is the case, where is the opposition to represent the people? Oppositions are important as I stated earlier to represent the interest of all Dominicans. If there is no opposition this widens the gap for dictatorial rule. Thus, the dictator rule you all are speaking about is being refutted everytime by DLP by stating look at how much free speech UWP has on the air. No one is really buying this. The UWP needs to listen more to it’s supporters, address it’s internal issues and have a stronger campaign vision. If not, the party will whither and die. People will get fed up.

Opposition is needed in Dominica but we as a people must learn professionalism in our approach. When there is blatant and evidence of corruption it should be exposed, I agree. However, people want to know if they call for a bi-election today, what can the UWP do for them. In my view, the UWP has not clearly communicated this to the public. The corruption allegations overshadow their vision if they discussed any.

In short, my friend I want to see all parties play their part for the well being of Dominica. If there is corruption in the Skerrit’s administration, as I mentioned there must be clear evidence, also, familiarity of UWP’s vision for development must be imprinted in the minds of the people so in the event they want DLP out they know they are being led by a people who have a vision. I think this is clear commonsense.
