PM calls on his parl reps not to abandon their constituents

PM SKerrit

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has called on his ministers of government and parliamentary representatives not to abandon their constituents.

“I say to them that they cannot not answer the phone when you call. They must make time for you because you are the ones who have placed your trust and confidence in us and you must always show gratitude and support and recognition for them,” he said at the Dominica Labour Party’s Red Day event at Macoucherie on Sunday.

The prime minister also told parliamentary representatives, “We must never abandon the people who have placed us here to represent them. I say to my parl reps that they have to make themselves available to you at all times to represent your interests.”

He promised that the government would also not abandon single mothers, the elderly and less fortunate in the coming years.

“There are many single mothers who have been abandoned by their boyfriends and their childrens’ fathers. We have to look out for these people,” he said.

Our deceased beloved prime minister, Roosevelt Douglas showed the example for all of us to see. He lived for the people, he did not live off the people, like all the hungry for power and wealth, parasitic fools, fake ass politicians are doing now. down with them.

tell it to them again, because there is a particular one when he sees members of his constituency he just raises his cellular to his ears and pretends like he is on a call; that is simply to avoid the person….. he comes to the village and he goes at one family house; but he must realize that is not one family that caused him to win in his constituency! those lazy ministers are giving the PM too much work to do during election time; they must step up and play their part. rally/campaign for the five years and more with your constituency, because at the end of the road they are the ones who will make you or break you!

“ I say to them that they cannot not answer the phone when you call. ” (RMS).

Mr. Prime Minister, not only they will not answer the telephone, there are situations where people have written letters to ministers, asking questions, or drawing certain conditions, and bad situations to some of your ministers attention; who has refused to even acknowledge receipt of the correspondence they receive.

Some people have written to ministers, offering their expertise in certain fields, only never to get a response form the minister to whom they wrote.

These ministers are behaving the same way as some of the UWP ministers behaved in the day the UWP held power.

When a government minister intends to ignore, or refuse to respond to the people, individually, or collectively, that in most cases seals the faith of the party, for that sort of behavior may have cost the UWP the election in 2000, or around that time.

Strange enough around election time, these same ministers are the ones who can wave the most to everyone, even a baby, who’s eye is not focusing in the direction of the politician.

They find the time to talk to the dirtiest person in the streets, however the day after election, or the night of election after the votes are counted, and they learn that they are elected, amnesia immediately sets in.

They forget their mothers name, all their associate, and relatives become foreign to them, as a matter of fact they even forget their own names.

The dirtiest person in the streets they once spoke with, now becomes invisible to them, because their votes are no longer needed until the next five years.

As for the baby; no more attention, and kissing of the baby, because mucus from the baby’s nose, and urine is likely to soil the new outfit they are wearing.

Their ultimate goal is to collect their monthly pay cheque, and to hell and back with the people who made it possible for them to enjoy life in most cases better than they lived before they were elected.

  35. communities already abandoned Big time
    December 24, 2010

Who abandoned the Layou community? Skerritt and his entire DLP Govt. When the people of Layou were pleading for support against the BIG MONEY BUSINESS MAN from foreign, where were you all Skerritt? All now so, Layou residents are being poisoned by the toxic fumes from Gardakhan’s ASPHALT PLANT. The Minister of the Environment, a medical doctor, sided with Big business. The parl. Rep kelver Darroux, was MOO-MOO when Layou residents were bawling for help.

Planning Dept. and all the DLP Cabal and supporters never came to the rescue of the people who were pleading for representation, for someone from govt. to at least listen to their plight. Their health are at risk. Their Eco-tourism projects are being negatively impacted. The youths find great difficulty in breathing properly when they play football opposite the Hillsborough gasoline station.

Skerritt and his inefficient DLP Govt. are not Transparent or Accountable to their constituencies and the nation at large. People are not consulted or given the opportunities to participate in the development of their communities. Dictatorial leadership negates people’s participation in meaningful National development. The communities are not informed and are left out. They are BYSTANDERS in the process, just seeing and hearing things going on.

Who sought the ideas of Dominicans regarding the Rubbish Bin Bobol? The Coffee plant from Chavez? Which farmers in the rural communities knew about the Fertilizer secret deals, until the investigator revealed the corrupt practices that were taking place? Which Parl. Reps. consult their communities for ideas regarding projects in their communities?

Which persons in the Parl Reps’ communities will be employed in the $27,000,000.00 President palace? How many local persons in construction will be employed in that huge capital project? Wouldn’t that amount of money benefit the rural people much better in boosting agriculture or food-processing or engage women in cottage projects? If any Parl Rep had consulted or discussed with those communities about the proper use of that big sum of money for a President palace, I am sure the rural folks would come up with alternative plans that would benefit them and their communities immensely. Who sanctioned that project?

Skerritt himself has abandoned and mistrusted the people. He does what he wants, any and every time. So now he is exercising his power to order his little boys around when he is guilty of not listening to or informing the People. He pays the pipers, so he is calling the tunes which are devoid of any harmony or melody. In the first place, due to Skerritt’s dual citizenship status at the time of nomination in the last elections, he is an illegal leader of the country according to the Constitution. Dominicans have lost respect for him. Corrupt practices, cheat, secret deals, lies, manipulation and control of institutions are the order of the day.

    Open up your eyes Dominica!
Whilst he speaks that he will not ” abandon single mothers, the elderly and less fortunate in the coming years.

and than goes on to further state:

“There are many single mothers who have been abandoned by their boyfriends and their childrens’ fathers. We have to look out for these people,” he said.

I hope that he stays around in the next hurricane season and that Skerrit will not abandon us like he has done before previously. Just stating.

    @The PM,
I second that motion. Ministers and parliamentarians should set aside a day each week in their constituencies, to listen and take note, be more proactive in the issues affecting the lives of all Dominicans. Jobs, Education,Housing, Health, Policing, the Environment, etc.
Ministers should be getting involve with the grassroots by mingling with the people in the towns and villages,to highlight and publicize their goals and achievements.
Get the people to participate in the big issues affecting their lives by hiring school halls around the country. They should debate the issues in a question and answer session in their constituencies.
TV and radio interviews are too remote for the general public, therefore whatever is debated is of just passing interest. The PM should make it a new year resolution for him, and his ministers to get involve around the Island in all the big issues affecting the country and debate it with the grassroots.
