PM describes Isidore’s statements as ill-informed

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has described statements from United Workers Party Senator and candidate for the Mahaut constituency, Ronnie Isidore, at the People’s Assembly on Friday as ill-informed and misleading.

Isidore had stated that fresh revelations regarding the prime minister’s alleged dual citizenship had caused disgrace to the public service.

“An officer, who without reasonable excuse, does an act which amounts to failure to perform in a proper manner, any duty imposed upon him, if such an officer contravenes any written law relating to the particular service of which he is a member, or if he’s otherwise prejudicial to the effective conduct of those particular service of which he is a member, or tends to bring that service into disrepute, that person is guilty of misconduct and liable to such punishment as prescribed in regulation 34,” Isidore had said, as he cited  sections of the Public Service Commission regulation.

“If they have done anything to bring the public service into disrepute, they are guilty, and they should be out,” Isidore added.

However, Prime Minister Skerrit responded, stating that the senator’s comments were not accurate.

“Under the semblance of a gathering of less than 100 people… after mobilizing throughout Dominica, they sought to stir their dispirited disciples into actions that would advance their objective … Their campaign of understanding and misrepresentation took a high point when the energetic but ill-informed senator and would-be aspirant to the Mahaut constituency declared in confidence that the prime minister was in violation of the public service regulations,” he stated.

“If the pitiful senator hadn’t been misled by his leadership in walking out of the House of Assembly, it is likely that he would have known that the public service regulations are applicable only to public servants appointed by the Public Service Commission,” Skerrit said.

Skerrit advised Isidore to get acquainted with the country’s constitution.

“To have in his mind the prime minister is appointed by the Public Service Commission and not by the president as provided for under section 59 subsection one, on the fourth chapter of the constitution, it is clear that the young man has not been taking the time to read the constitution which he sits in parliament to defend,” Skerrit said.

The prime minister’s comments came in his address at the Dominica Labour Party award ceremony at the Arawak House of Culture on Saturday evening.

Section 32 of the constitutionhas a section on criminality. That is irrespective of where it was. This means that Ronnie issue with the US system would make him unable to be a senator.

The fact that Mr. Skerrite “Advised Isidore to get aquainted with the country’s constitution,” is proof that he is well versed in the constitution, and delebrately broke the law and said that not even the constitution could stop him from doing what the same constitution condemns. Because of his knowledge and rudeness, when convicted he should be made to pay severely which would send a strong message to others, according to Lk. 9:48 which says that the person that knows to do good and does it not should be beaten with many stripes.

I must say MOST people who make comments on this site are ignorant and lacks intelligence. Have u all ever wondered what do u all gain from trashing Mr Isidore or Skeritt? One thing u all have not realized, any word from an individual’s mouth determines their level of intelligence. U all need to sit and figure out how embarassing it is for Dominca to be under this type of rubbish dump. I am true a born Domincan, and i am ashame of the level of stupidity that Dominica has to offer. Da People have serious issues. They have personal grudges against each other and whenever they get the chance, is just destroy one’s reputation. Maybe if half of the population spent time giving god all this energy dominica would be a better place. For those of u commenting on Skeritt and Mr isidore, everyone has personal issues in their lives. Some are hidden and some are not. Why do u all sit and blah blah blah without getting your facts straight. For those of u who are against Skeritt, keep your thoughts to yourselves. Those against Mr Isidore keep your thoughts to yourselves. Don’t worry, there is a god above. His eyes are 10,000 times brighter than the sun. He knows what we do , where we go and we all have to face our music. So while all u sit down worrying about how many relatives of isidore that u all claimed the same gov’t bail out, remember bad things happen to everyone…………read your bible…………..THE TIME IS NEAR STOP WORRYING ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE ANDRY ABOUT YOURSELVES.

Skerrit is so versed in our constitution that he is advising Isidore to get aquainted with it. So when a man like Skerrit can say that no constitution could stop he, he knew very well what he was talking about. That’s why a person like him when convicted, should be made to pay severely according to Lk. 12:47 “the person that knows to do good and does it not, should be beaten with many stripes.”

Ronnie boy, you made a mistake jumping onto a sinking ship just because the DLP government did not agree to bypass the law and sweep your family issues under a rug. If they had agreed to do that wouldn’t that be engaging in corruption? It’s always when you guys do not get what you want that you start bashing the government. Swallow your pride and come back home like the prodigal son.

Agree with your 100%. This young man has been misguided due to his dissatisfaction with the government’s intervention. The same government he is calling corrupt is the same one he wanted to bail out his relative from the mess he got himself in. Ronnie corruption is corruption so please get your head and facts straight and stop running your mouth. You are simply embarrassing yourself.

This morning Ronnie sought to correct the prime minister on the fact that the united nations declared that Dominica is the only country which realised a surplus for 2010. He said the PM in his excitement must have made a mistake. He said the report was from ECLAC and not the United Nations.

But Ronnie, ECLAC is one of five regional commissions of the United Nations.

Pm we know that whatever comes from your lying tongue is coming from the pit of HELL..What i find shocking is that you can quote the constitution, but yet you didn’t know that the very constitution would disqualify you from being a bonafide representative of your constituency even if you won the seat at Vieille Case, because you were a French man.. After one year i am shocked you cna’t tell us by how much you have reduced unemployment, poverty, corruption, lies, deceitfulness, theft, and all the other ills that are trademark of this totalitarian administration.
THE BURNING ISSUE THOUGH IS YOUR DUAL CITIZENSHIP AND YOUR RED HERRINGS WILL NOT FACTOR IN AT THE COUR OF LAW….KEEP ON FOOLING YOUR IGNORANT FOLLOWERS..THERE IS A SEASON FOR EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN.

Ronnie’s statement was clear and anyone listening would draw from what he was saying so because now the prime minister brings to light his error he is trying to say that was not his words but the tape can be played for him and others to hear.

        December 20, 2010

The only Nazis in DA today are those who refuse to respect the will of the majority and to allow the democratic and legal process to have its way seeking instead to carry out political lynching and media assasinations of an individual in the public domain.

Hitler did the same to the Jews, all because of envy and hate!!

IF THE PRIME MINISTER CAN ELOCUENTLY REFER OTHERS TO CERTAIN SECTION OF THE CONSTITUTION WHEN IT COMES TO HIS APPOINTMENT NOT BEING MADE BY THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION,
“THEREFORE HE THE PREIME MINISTER WOULD HAVE KNOW THAT HE WAS IN BREACH OF THE LAW AND THAT HIS ACTIONS SINCE 2003 WERE CRIMINAL BECAUSE HE WAS A MEMEBER OF PARLIAMENT WHEN HE RECIEVED HIS FRENCH PASSPORT”
THEREFORE: HE KNEW, HE KNEW, HE KNEW, HE KNEW,HE KNEW, HE KNEW, HE KNEW THAT HE WAS ATTACKING THE COSTITUTION HE HAD SWORN TO UPHOLD AND DEFEND.
IF OUR CONSTITUTION IS UNDER ATTAK BY THE PRIME MINISTER OF DOMINICA WHO WILL DEFEND IT????????????
