PM rubbishes diplomatic cables from US Embassy

Skerrit

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has dismissed leaked United States diplomat cables which points to discrepancies in his ruling Labour Party Government as “foolishness” and “rum shop talk”.

In his first public reaction since the publication of the cables, Skerrit told privately owned Kairi FM radio that United States is “very embarrassed” by the cables.

“I cannot understand that any serious staff would spend their time writing that foolishness,” Skerrit said, making reference to the leaked confidential cables released by Wikileaks from the US embassy in Barbados.

Landlord, where do we collect our rents from how o I pay the bank for the apartments I’ve built? 90percent of all university students are from the USA. How do the bigger business companies that have expanded to facilities in Picard pay their bills? De Vry who owns Ross has now decreed to spend 100 million usd to build a real university like no other in the Caribbean… What do you think this represents? Enlighten me nah!

Skerrit needs to take a reality check, . Not even the few dollars he thinks he now own can help him if he finds himself tangled up with the big USofA. This guy needs to really seek good advice because I see him going down a slippery path, I am smelling problems.

Our PM need to be careful with what comes out of his mouth, be a bit more diplomatic. The world is round and spins daily, there will come times when we will all need each other to lean on. what ever happens on one part of the world affect the other so making enemies with any nation is not wise. Do not dampen our relationship with any country. let the people decide, you are just an elected leader who will come and go like all the others who came before you. and may I add that, I’m pretty sure Dominicans would choose America in an instant over countries Venezuela.

Hats off to the deceased PM Pierre Charles he read the minds of his citizens and came up with that statement that fitted the island’s majority Prefectly!

Dominicans lost monies through the insurance schemes…and are highly proud of loosing finances…as they love their young prime minister so much that anything he deals badly they are grateful to honour and protect him at first instance..and to hell with everything else…cant find a word to describe that sort of thinking on planet earth!!….interesting developments…

    Congratulations mr p.m
I see you have managed to to escape this one by using psychology. The dominican people will definitely relate to the rum shop reference, because ‘dominica have alot, and we all know people say anything under the influence of rum.
But my question to you, is how you know someone was in a rum shop and called to give or get info????
I have actually lost all regard for you as a leader and as a man. And my heart weep for the dominicans that dont understand whats happening here..

Why would america have rum shop talk as classified files? What would it benefit them??? HMMM

While the issue of free diplomatic relations with the cOuntries that show greater interest IN OUR WELFARE, first of all we should not be looking for the higher bidder FOR HELP. It is all about going around the negotiating table with “something to get something over there”, according to a former PM.
We should have no nation to apologise to as long as we are within the requirements of international laws.

WE DONT OWE USA/EU ANY APOLOGY MORE THAN THEY OWE US.

On the other hand we expect our leaders to be accountable to the people regardless of what nations we align with.

HONEST LEADERS BRING PROSPERITY TO ALL AND NOT A FEW.

America has used unmanned drones to bomb protesters trying to overthrow the dictator in Yemen, claiming that some of them are Islamic militants (which is true). Meanwhile, they bombed Libya into submission on behalf of rebels who ALSO have links to extremist Islam.

The current leader of the rebel army in Tripoli is a former member of the Taliban!! The difference between Yemen and Libya? Yemen’s dictator was a corrupt American puppet, unlike Gadhafi who was a nationalist and put his people first.

I could go on to give so many more examples of American hypocrisy, both currently and in the past.

All of you America a**-kissers like MOTS are plain and simple uninformed people who have allowed yourselves to be brainwashed by the Western media.America is demonizing Skerrit now, the same way the demonize every sovereign leader who doesn’t bow down to them and lick their a**.

Anti -hate,You are so confused and fool of hate that you try to blame it on America and Yemen. Stop playing the spin game. The issue in subject has nothing to do with your none sense and personal hatred for America. This is about Skeritt calling diplomatic cables from US Embassy as “Rubbishes.”

Do you not know that there are discrepancies in the ruling Dominica labour party? Do you need the US Embassy to expose them to you? You are so naive in your thinking. The embassy did not put out information that the world did not know about Skeritt and his curruption; so why blame the US and call them satan?
You sound just like Tony Infact is either you are Tony or a close associate of him who is bent on mis-leading the public and trying to turn people against the US. But we the people are saying, THANK GOD THE USA! That’s the home of many of us and 70% of every dollar spent in Dominica today comes from the US. So you cannot and will never succeed in getting us to hate the US.

So come with your nonesense everyday but you not succeed. Where were you when hurricane David destroyed us? Did you help the poor back then? How much help did we get from Yeman and rest of countries you spoke about? You guys hate America so much yet, if something happens to us in DA, America is the first country you will call on. So stop your nonsense and go find work to do instead of your daily nonsense.

“He has styled himself self-consciously after Chavez, even donning Chavez characteristic bright red shirts in official appearances”

Can we say that the person writing this cables knows what they are talking about? Isn’t red the Labour Party color just as blue is for UWP? Haven’t DLPleaders and supporters worn red shirts at official appearances just as UWP leaders have worn blue?

If they can’t get this basic information right or are deliberately misrepresenting it then the credibility and believability of the source and message is in question.

The PM said “I am not going to sit down in any meeting with anybody in this world to ask me about the nature of my relationship with Chavez, Fidel Castro (former Cuban president) or anybody else.

“My relationship with Fidel Castro is for the people of Dominica it has nothing to do with no third party state.

I think EDISON JAMES would agree to that. This is what he said in his 1997 independence day speech.

“Cuban scholarships, which were always available to Dominica through official channels over the past 15 years, but rejected on spurious grounds, are now accepted.” WOW, ON SPURIOUS GROUNDS, is this the same Edison James and the same Cuba?

Same peech. “Fellow Dominicans – It is a fundamental doctrine of our system of Government and Public Administration that no political party or government can bind its successor to the policies that the Government of the day has formulated and pursued. The democratic formula requires that governments in succession must remain free to modify, change or jettison the policies, programmes and {RELATIONSHIPS} that its predecessor in office constructed or pursued, or on the other hand, to accept and go along with the implementation of the said policies, programmes and {RELATIONSHIPS}.

“This Government will not act for praise. But this Government’s will to act will not be frozen by unfair criticisms from political opponents”.

Mr.James you are soooooooo right. The DLP Government should be frozen by unfair criticisms from political opponents.

Granted, some people make it and survive very well…but the life some people live, it’s just despearte, just to say they in AMERICA and they don’t have their lapo borda. But still they rather gwayay in the white man land than live comfortable in their lands.

A bunch of here are cowards. You are afraid of America and what they say.

Skerrit is an elected leader of a democratic country. We have had mostly peaceful elections and transfer of power since 1978.

So with the being said, I challenge each of you who love America so much, show us what major project they have done in Dominica?

I also ask that you also look for similar projects from Cuba, Venezuela, Japan and China?

Then come back here and educate me.

The PM can choose who he has relations with and if he is smart he will be friends where he benefits, much like every other country does.

We are in America’s backyard and there are about 4 embassies in the entire Caribbean to serve us. China has one in every country they have relations.

We contribute to the American Economy more than they give us…..remember that.

        September 22, 2011

Are we rolling in the mud for any of the nations you mentioned? Give us one example of a huge US project in Dominica. Just one. All the US does is give us second hand material for THEIR war on drugs and when they cannot control the use of drugs within their borders they turn around tell us WE are not doing enough.

The US don’t care about us. So we go to friends that can assist us but we are NOT rolling in the mud for Chavez or Gaddafi or anyone.
