Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has welcomed the victory of the St. Lucia Labour Party (SLP) at Monday’s general election.

Skerrit said the SLP, led by Kenny Anthony, is coming into office, during “trying” times; but, Skerrit said he is confident that Anthony can assume the task.

“He comes at a time when the global economic crisis is hitting every country in the world, so it is a very trying time to get into government,” the prime minister said.

Skerrit said he is anticipating the long-standing relations between the Dominica Labour Party and the SLP will grow further.

The Dominica government has expressed hope that St. Lucians will accept the election results and move forward.

The Australia Cricket team will be in the caribbean next year to play a number of games against windies and these games will be played in several venues and St. Lucia will be hosting three of them. Dominicans are upset because we know Lucian’s don’t support cricket like us in DA and we all left Widsor park earlier this year with the impression that we would get to host a game agaist Australia and one against Newzeland. However, we were out of favor against Australia.
During a sports program on Q,Imran Khan, the PRO of West Indies called the program to tell us why we did not get a game against Aussies. He said before a venue is selected they must take several things into consideration. As far as Dominica is cocerned, Imran said that they had to consider the standard of our hotels and the standard is not good.
The fact that St. Lucia got three games although they don’t turn out to watch cricket is proof that the standard of their hotels messured with what ICC is looking for when hosting a team like Australia, while our failed the test. That’s what we should be concerned about as Dominican’s instead of rejoicing over a labour win in the same St. Lucia that is able meet world standard while we couldn’t according to mr. Imran Khan of West Indies Cricket Board.

congrats to the S.L.P… but i’ve always wondered… who’s to say that the d.l.p and s.l.p and any other labour party is the same… huh… sheeps most people are… the S.L.P could well be the equivalent of our u.w.p whereas st lucia’s u.w.p could be our labour party… this thing makes no sense to me whatsoever…. patrons are following party names and colours… so if u vote labour in dominica then u must vote labour in england??? lol

St. Lucia voting population is close to 200,000, as oppose to Dominica at 40,000 that is a more appropriate comparison

Sorry Sir but you are mistaken. This year the number of registered voters was reported to be 150,000. That number was queried as the listed population is approximately 170,000.

That is a very educated idea, that the pm will never entertain, Petite Savanne can easily go with Grand bay, Colihaut, Salisbury, Dublanc, Bioch and Coulibistrie can also go together, Make is one Roseau, no north, south and central, wesley, woodfordhill and Marigot make that one,any sensible thinking person would agree to reduce the number of constituencies

If Hugo Chavez loses in Venezuela, many will rejoice. If the Republicans win in the USA we will suck salt, although Obama is a puppet. So another country’s election has consequences for Dominica. So give people a chance to gloat or rejoice if they choose to. So what?

Hey, did you forget that arch rivals Lennox Linton campaigned in St. Lucia for the UWP and Tony Astaphan campaigned for the SLP. Whether you like it or not, that’s a defeat for Lennox Linton and a victory for Tony, in case you forgot.

What in the world that a St Lucia Labour party have to do with a Dominica labor party? I am not a labourite, I’m not UWPite, neither am I a freedomite or pappyite. I am simply looking for a better Dominica and will vote any party that is willing to put Dominica first. But for any Labourite in Dominica to be excited because Labour party won an election in St Lucia, really confirms our ignorance and here in Da.
What this election and all elections in St. Lucia clearly tells us is that Lucians are not as politically blind like us and they are not married to a party. What they are looking for is development and a government that will respect them. This is so different from the foolishness that takes place in Dominica and it tells us why an island like St. Lucia that is so close to Dominica and looks so much like Dominica, is so much more advanced than us.
Is only in Dominica a person like Rosevelt Skeritt would remain in power after all what he has done to the name of Dominica and the office of the PM. Zor two sort!

      ——————–

I understand that Lennox was campaigning hard on behalf of the UWP in St. Lucia. Are you therefore implying that Lennox was supporting a party in St. Lucia which was anti-development, progress and respect for its citizens?

That would be kinda ironic huh. Since he is the lead crusader for ‘democracy’ in Dominica.

I am not here to support or defend Lenox. lenox is a professioal and if he is paid to go do a job, who am I to condemn him> However, if he or anyone else gave their support to UWP of St Lucia or Labour party of St. Lucia on the basis that labour is labour anywhere and uwp is uWP anywhere, then that would be pure ignorance.

On another note, where were you during the time the government of Dominica made internatioal news for their passport scandal? Are you officially back from vacation or you just happen squeeze one through? Let’s put DA first and not party cause that will just continue to hurt our country.

I tell u ignorance is a hell of a thing….Dominicans need help, now more than ever. Rejoicing of St. Lucia politics, we got our own mess to fix. I think democracy is alive and well in St. Lucia so we got to check our self

SO WHY LABOUR LOST BEFORE IN THOSE COUNTRIES? ITS BECAUSE THE PEOPLE WANTED A CHANGE. HERE IN DOMINICA ALL WE WANT IS HAND OUT.

They can kick us, drag us, call us “ass”, “cochroach”, “fool”, “hungry and greedy”. We doh care. We must labour. What a bunch of fools
