Skerrit reaches out to opposition

Skerrit said now is the time to put negativism aside
Skerrit said now is the time to put negativism aside

Prime minister elect, Roosevelt Skerrit, has reached out to the opposition United Workers Party (UWP) following its defeat at the poll, saying now is the time to join hands to build Dominica.

“I am extending publicly an olive branch to the UWP to join hands with us to build this country,” he said at a victory rally of his Dominica Labour Party (DLP) on Monday night in Portsmouth.

Preliminary results from the general election held on Monday indicate that the DLP captured 15 seats in parliament and the UWP grabbing six.

Skerrit told supporters that now the election is over, it is time to put aside all negativism.

“Now is the time to close ranks as a people, now is the time to put any negativism aside, now is the time to embrace each other as brothers and sisters, as Dominicans,” he stated.

He said the campaign was a vigorous one.

“We fought a very keen campaign, it was a rigorous campaign, the Labour Party became victorious and the United Workers Party lost the election,” he stated. “So we need to join hands and work together to build Dominica. Dominica is going to require the commitment, the dedication to service of every single one of us. We have to heal the nation.”

Skerrit said elections normally create divisions in society but the Labour Party must extend the hand because it is a “party of love.”

“We are a party of affection, we are a party of forgiveness, so let us embrace everybody,” he noted.

He stated that despite the anger created by the election, the result must be accepted because “the people have spoken and the voice of the people is the voice of God.”

“The good Lord has decided who he wants to be the leader of this country, which party he wants to lead Dominica for another five years and therefore we have to respect the will of the people,” Skerrit said.

    Dear Sex Machine: The Facts;

Be informed that whereas you have your God given rights to sit in Toronto Canada, and support Skerrit, or any other politician in our country; I Francisco Telemaque do have the right, and reserve my God given rights to remain here in my comfort zone in Los Angeles and criticize Skerrit, or any other politician in the country; if I lived in Dominica I would be doing exactly what I am doing now, and what I have done over the years!

And, I do it without fear of Skerrit’s wrath of victimization, nor reprisal; I am a grown man, I stand on my very own two feet, I got nothing from my birth father, or mother, I commenced standing on my two feet from the ripe old age of fourteen (14) years old to this day; anything I call my own, I worked very hard to get it; and so there is no way in this life I will ever crawl on my belly at the feet of Skerrit or any other political crook in Dominica for a handout.

At least I have the guts to identify what that man has done wrong since becoming Prime Minister of Dominica; wrong which has caused our nation irreparable damage; your kind are the ones who accepts anything he does simply because you all want to be in “ting.” You are the kind who leaves Canada, and America, to go home on a free ride to vote; the result of your conduct which constitutes a felony; is that he wins every time, the efforts of people like you simply caused him to win, and in the process do more damage, leaving the unfortunate who has no way out of Dominica to remain there and suffer. The word “I will give you this for free does not apply to yours truly,” I am retired nevertheless, I am more or less employed full time I employ myself, and the pay is good!

Hahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahaha: when I pay me; I do not look over my shoulders hoping to evade my butt from getting arrested; my money which I pay to myself is called honest money okay! You suggest that I leave the people alone! Who are the people you refer to; Skerrit or the people suffering in Dominica? I have an extended family in Dominica, which may be in the thousands, I am concern about them, that is why I need to see someone take the country beyond a beggar state. My hope is that somebody will come to their senesce and realize that anybody who resides in a country should be able to go out at any time and find a job. No job means hunger; when people are hungry, they beg.

Skerrit intention is to keep Dominica the way it is for as long as he is Prime Minister, the man has no ambition, he does not even know how to make an honest living. And here is what I am talking about, and if you are capable of understanding, you must have realized that Skerrit is a highly shady kind of person: ask yourself; if Dominica is the poorest nation in the Caribbean, the ministers of government salary are the lowest in the Caribbean, even if Skerrit saved every dime of the honest money paid to him for the past fifteen years, his total earnings cannot support the value of his total material assets, including money which he has in some foreign bank or in a hole buried in plastic bags. This man have supporters dressed in red, going to some dumb red clinic to beg him for money. I am informed that the man shoves his hands in a draw, comes out with whatever amount of money and hand it to the beggar.

Mind you his operation resources does not come from the government treasury, we have no official welfare system in Dominica, so if the source is not Dominica government money; tell me; tell the rest of Dominica what is the source of the money he gives away! Answer that question, and if you find his giveaway money is honest, then I will follow you advise and leave the people alone!

Olive branch, mango branch or lemon branch, will all wither and die, when one extend a branch there should be fruits on it, and in this case the fruits on the olive branch should be “election reform, cleaning the voters list, reregistering of voters, voters ID, stop the bribery, have clean discussions take a page from UWP book, disassociate your self when your party advocates call Dominicans all kinds of disgraceful names on radio and on your political platforms, STOP the lies PM, when the branch wither and dies PM the fruits would have been useful to the nation, meaning peace and love unity once again, if you really want to heal the nation PM extend the olive branch again with the for mentioned fruits on it.

    December 10, 2014

Like it or not he is there for another 5 years. People complaining “he was Grandfond by the polling station” blah blah blah, so what. Linton was there steering through his sun glasses at people in the line after he voted at the Goodwill Primary School. Danny Lugay was also present, and spent over an hour in the Goodwill Primary school Yard, hustling with his list directing people which line they should go to. So what.

UWP got 3 seats last election, they doubled and got 6 this time, next time you might get 11. I don’t know how they expected to go from 3 to 10 and up, in a short space of time. talking about bribery, and hundreds of people coming to vote, where the proof. even if you pay somebody to vote for you, it’s the person alone in their little booth to make their X.

I cannot see Lennox becoming the leader of Dominica. So isn’t there anyone else in the party that can take that position? Lennox is not a people person. He does not seem approachable.

Without the introduction of diaspora voters the opposition would have won 11/10. The opposition won and won the hearts of many admirers. In spite of all this money shown by the DLP they still were not able the convince the Dominican populace. That was commendable by the opposition, Kudos to them for being the best during the campaign. The presentation of their Manifesto was incredible. In the end money was the difference, who could shout more, who could dazzle more. Life continues

You don’t incite people while running a gutter politics and then come and ask people for unity. You people are either nuts or idiots. These practice of gutter politics have to be stopped by both sides and UWP did great on the elimination of the gutter politics while Skerrit, Reginald kept on trashing. So now what, you want unity and your olive branch, well I for one don’t think that this is right

Everyone keeps blaming the diaspora!!! So you’re telling me that 5954 diasporas went to Dominica to vote for the DLP! People, let’s be realistic! Indeed DLP had diaspora supporters but UWP had also, probably not as many as the DLP. UWP would have need to get 5 more seats in order to have beat the DLP….Soufriere, Grandbay, Vielle Case, Portsmouth, Cottage, Paix Bouche & Petite Savanne, won astonishingly by very large numbers! so which 5 of the 8 seats remaining would the UWP conquer in order to had win? Definitely not Mahaut (won by 397), not Salybia(won by 417), not Colihaut(won by 484), not St Joe(won by 197)……No need to go on because these already made the 11 for the DLP!

Campaign hard and after the election is over you reach out to your opponents to work together for the good of the nation. I would suggest the opposition change their leader ASAP. Twenty years is too long in government, for the good of the country. Dominicans do not read, there is ignorance (says PM in his victory speech – NOT ME!!!) so they do not know the history of long standing governments in the Caribbean. Look what Forbes Burnham did in Guyana and Papa Doc and Baby Doc in Haiti. Already, Dominica is last in the OECS – (they dont know that due to high level of ignorance) but they dont care because “Labour katwavay” with infrastructural development but neglecting the productive sectors of the country. They do not realise that the standard of living has fallen drastically but who cares? Once Laba in office Dominicans dont care about their quality of life or that of their children.
Interesting, they cannot survive here as nothing is happening for them – no work, no hope. So they migrate, become DIASPORA and forget the hells they were seeing here (they could not survive here), then DIASPORA comes back and put a government on our backs that we do not want.
But I am telling DIASPORA, I hope you build a house in Dominica because you will come back here in old age and that is when you will lie on the bed that you have made. You are wicked and the bible says ” The wicked worketh a deceitful work but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward. AS righteousness tendeth to life so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death”. Prov 11: 18 – 19. God will give you your just reward in his own time.

Some advice The UWP should stop focusing on Skerrit and start focusing on the laws of the land the constitution and how to behave in parliament, make a good showing, and as the trinidadians do for carnival, be preparing to be the next government in five years time. they did well gaining three more seats, so they double the number of seats labour lost three more seats, while they did not win the election they improved there share of the votes, if they continue to present to the people as a viable alternative they may make the next government in five years time. Engage the objective left side of the brain and put away all the emotional irrationality. God was not involve in the political process, it was mamon and mamon won.

As long as UWP supporters continue to heap that load of negativity and insult on the Dominican people, they will not gain the level of popularity that is needed for a win at the polls. You criticize, you call them fools, you call them all kinds of negative names and then you expect Dominicans to flock to your rallies and to vote you in. All people want to be seen in a good light. All people like to be felt that they are worthwhile and that they matter. Skerrit gets that and goes out of his way to make the underdog feel like he cares for them personally. Just Blaze”These UWP people make me sick. All they do sit down and complain about Skerrit. How he give hand outs for votes he bring in diaspora voters blah blah blah. If you look at the election results carefully you will see 12 seats labour won big time.”

You that Blazablaza, have something coming, to you in the future, and it shall be hotter than Hell, by then you will get sicker than any “UWP people as you claimed. Mind you Dominica is not going to change under Skerrit, for the next five years the status quo will be the same!

If you believe that Skerrit did not import voters from the Diaspora to vote in the election, you are fool. I know he did; and believe it or not many are related to me; so you need to shut your moth. On the other hand, if I had sixty ($60,000,000.00) million dollars to bid on a chicken, and you had ten dollars to bid, and buy the same chicken, which of the two of us do you believe would win the bid?

Obviously, I would because my resources would be unlimited, and no matter how far your ten dollars would take you, your chances of winning the bid would become absolute zero. That is what happened in the general election. Skerrit spend approximately sixty million dollars to buy Dominicans, to those people who accepted a few dollars to sell their country into more poverty, are the sick people. It is appalling that human’s will take their own hands and destroy their life and that of others.

Let me tell you something guy, I know someone personally whom I advised personally not to vote for Skerrit, and the Labor Party under no circumstances: Yesterday, she went out and ensured she voted Labour, of course she benefited $12,500.00 ( twelve thousand, five hundred dollars) for her “X.” What about all the bodily abled people who received houses?

What about all the motor vehicle drivers who accepted money, and gasoline to transport people across the country, to attend political rallies. That is only for a time, these people who have soled their mind for the handouts forget, after the gifts prior to election, Skerrit tactics, of giving caused him to win, but what next? Skerrit, and the elected members of the Labour Party will continue to receive a pay cheque for the next five years, while they who like handouts, and the crumb the devil leaves have to wait for five more years, before another windfall. I do not know who you are or where you came from, but I am here to tell you that the majority of Dominicans have lost their ambition to be productive, and earn an honest living.

It is all about getting something for nothing: as long as they hear the it is free for one day, they will sell their pride, and soul to it fore no matter if they are aware they are hurting themselves in the process. Finally I know you and others are going to fire back at me, some will accuse me of the sour-grape effect!

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaah!

Don’t bother, nothing in Dominica at the moment interest me politically, I am an American by naturalization, I am residing in the greats nation on earth, I want for nothing, as I know where every dime I will need to maintain, and sustain my life to the day I die derive from, and they only way for that to change the entire economy of the entire United States would have to collapsed first. I am not suffering, and will never suffer financially for as long as I live; but many Dominica, are sucking salt, and drinking salt water even this very day!

      Mr. Telemacque,
      I concur.
Any human being who builds loyalty by dependency is evil.
He take away their dignity by allowing them to beg for
for crumbs from his table( Master Skerritt).
He destroyed their self esteem and moral.
As a result they have lost their desire to provide for themselves.
“The Red Clinic” have made them dependent and psychologically enslaved.
Like you, I left Dominica in my early twenties
thirty years years ago, because of all the victimization and
injustices practiced by the former administrations to my family.
I have one brother who refuses to move.
I do not have any stake in Dominica politics.
My higher, education was financed with scholarships and
loans from the American government-which l repaid.
The most hurtful part of the situation in Dominica, is
that, there are people who knows better and better yet
claim to be Christian who facilitate the nonsense and Skerritt’s
      unscrupulous behavior.
Dominica for me is a ‘holiday’.
My heart aches for the ones who have limited choices and wanted to change the
situation in Dominica, only to be suffocated by those
      unethical and lazy diaspora.
I say lazy, because plenty of them have no dreams and live on government
assistance, that is why some of them did not return in as much
a twenty years with a “free” ticket.

Diaspora left the USA this week where a gallon of gas is $2.75, a lb of chicken for cents, a pair of shoes for under $ 5.00 in some cases, where they are employed, with two cars in their garage, air condition in their house, electric bill for under $100.00 a month, life insurance to cover their children; yet they came to Dominica to vote in a government for us where a gallon of gas is $15.00, 1 lb of half rotten chicken for $5.00, pair of shoes $200.00, can’t affor t afford ceiling fans let alone AC, without health insurance let alone life insurance, most of us are unemployed and yes, a dictator on us whereas they have a democratic government. Some of them have already left the island and most will leave in two weeks time. Yet they came to put us in hell for 5 years. I wish you all just what you deserve as you go back! God bless and may you all find consolation in the evil you inflicted on us!

    • The Facts
      December 10, 2014

Do you think if UWP won it would be any better? The islands are much more expensive, dollar for dollar than the US or Canada of all. Nevertheless, they also have their expenses. Where they may save in one, they spend more in others.
Do not envy anyone. Wherever they reside, they have their financial woes and obligations to meet.
They pay a lot of taxes for this and for that. Everyone who owns a house or other property pay taxes. Those who rent the property tax are incorporated in their rent.
They must submit an income tax return annually so that they could pay their fare share of taxes or to ensure that they pay their full share of taxes. If they fail to submit one, it will not be long that the government will contact them and request that they submit it otherwise they will have to pay a penalty. They could be imprisoned for refusing/failing to submit one over the years.
If they owe the government and do not file on time and they owe the government, they will have to pay interest on top of the amount owing. If they do not pay the amount and they are employed, the government will place a garnishee on their wages, even whatever money they have in their bank account.
This is only the beginning of what I have stated. Therefore, when you make those statements,, ensure you know how matters operate in a big country. You have to live in one to experience what it is like.

Theirs only joy in heaven when sinners repent not when men in office win elections. But I am very glad it’s over so men can focused on doing the work of God. However it’s sad that the church has no passion for winning souls which will make heaven rejoice but have greater passions for the work of men.I hope they have the same passion to see souls won for God, they have created so much division now that it is harder to do the work God. The kingdom of heaven comes first everthing thing after.Choose he this day who you will serve but as for me and my house we will serve God.

  39. Not Me Again!
    December 9, 2014

I have two suggestions to Dominicans: 1. Starting today we should have a massive PEACEFUL protest in the capital city. We need to let politicians know in no uncertain terms that we will not allow our government to be decided by who have more money and lawlessness. If this first step does not lead to a fair bar election then 2. The six (6) members of the UWP that won their seats, should ALL refuse to be sworn in and even go as far as conceding defeat so that we could have a one party government in Dominica and let Dominicans have some fun for the next five years.

It would be a good idea to economize. Commence with growing your own vegetables if you have at least a small piece of property.
Take good care of your health by eating nutritiously. It does not have to cost much. Then you will not have to purchase medication for a long time, if you do.
Dominica is not the only place which is expensive. Every country has its high cost of living. Medicine is expensive also in Canada. So far, I thank God that I do not take medication. I pray it will not be for a long while. I do my utmost to eat nutritiously.
You have a computer. You can check health websites for relevant information. Google whatever you want and the information is there for the reading, learning, taking note and practicing.
Most of all, live well. Do your utmost to give God his dues. Avoid anxiety and stress. Be kind to others. Love one another. Try to smile/laugh as much as you can but at what is worthy of smiling and laughing. Too often if people do not practice these, lack of them could be a cause of illnesses and bitterness.
God has given us gifts/talents. Make the most of them. If you do not know what your gifts are, pray to God and He will reveal them to you.
Generally, our gifts are what we excel in and love doing. Hopefully, they will be godly ones. This is how we know they are gifts from God. His talents that He graces us with. If we do not use them He will take them away from us and give them to others who make most of theirs. Our Lord Jesus Christ has told us so – Parable of the Talents.

Unfortunately, I cannot accept the olive branch offered by Skeritt. There could be a serpent wraped in the branches. I have never forgotten what Ian once said about Skeritt. On second thought, maybe, I could accept the olive branch, if Skeritt was to apologize to Mr. Linton, for the many times he either defamed or demonized him. I could also accept the olive branch, if he would apologize, publicly to Miss Monell Williams. That half apology did not work. Finally, I would accept the olive branch he has offered, if he would publicly tell me how much he is worth.

@Doc. Love, you and your party continue to be such hypocrits it is beyond all reasoning. Has lennox apologised for refering to young people as prostitutes, has he apologised to Skeritt for accusing him of leading a criminal enterprise, has he apologised for calling ministers rapist. Who appointed Lennox God so that he can say what ever he wants about people and when anything is said about him it is a big sin and requires apologies. No one should apologise to Lennox, he lacks humility and he is a sinner like all of us. He did not have the good manners to thank Dominicans for vonting for his party, only thanking the people of Marigot, but I guess that is OK with you as he is your God.

  44. Its My damn business
    December 9, 2014

I do not want any branch from Skerrit. This man must stop calling God’s name in his nonsense. God did not choose any party for us. He stole it and God tells us that we must not steal. God respects our choice because according to Matt. 18:18,18-20 “Take this most seriously: A yes on earth is yes in heaven; a no on earth is no in heaven” The Message trans. In other words, what we allow or accept on earth, God accepts and allows in heaven. So stop lying on God. Also, after Judas Iscariot betrayed the Lord and later committed suicide, the eleven remaining apostles decided to replace him. They chose two and cast their ballot. According to their ballot Matthias won. However, we never saw this man’s name in the bible again. Why? It believe it was man;s choice but God’s choice was Saul who later became Paul. Furthermore, the voice of the people was not heard ; it was the voice of lawlessness, money and greed that actually spoke. With the unlawful activities we saw, heard, and some of us touched, both during the campaign up to election day, there is NO way Skerrit can lead from a clear conscience.

I read and heard about all the corruption on election day… but where were the observers who came in to observe the election? There could not have been corruption when those people were around. PM Skerritt thanked persons for believing in him.., what did Linton do … not one thank you from him when DBS Radio connected to Q 95 to listen to him. He was bitter, angry … his tone of voice!!! The UWP kept bragging about people from the Diaspora who came in to vote… are they forgetting that they are the ones who started it? And if they had the money they would bring in people to vote.. Why did Linton go all over the globe talking to people and collecting money for campaign? wasn’t he encouraging them to come home to vote…. it is very nice when persons in the diaspora come home for carnival and music festival …. but very bad when we come home to vote. The lines of communication is opern and the diaspora always keep in touch with the happenings home.. sometimes we have to call to tell you what happen befor you know the diaspora know. So why keep us out…. why come to us in New York, Florida, Guadeloupe etc. etc. during election time.??we keep bragging about dead persons on the list… both parties had agents in all polling stations…then take it to task the dead names on the list. But wait.. didn’t the parties scan the voters list before election? I used to be involved in politices the days of Eugenia Charles and we did that every night and especially when the new listings are out… you have to scan the list… didn’t the UWP looked for dead persons on the listing… did we hear what Peter Wickham said about voters ID in Jamaica and I think Antigua? We are small communities in Dominica and almost everybody know everybody… anyway…congratulations to PM Skerritt and lets all join hands and build our beautiful country.

Skerrit said elections normally create divisions in society “Now is the time to close ranks as a people, now is the time to put any negativism aside, now is the time to embrace each other as brothers and sisters, as Dominicans.” Whether we like it or not, election does create division and we are a democratic society where people can still go to the polls to chose their leader. As Dominicans, both at home and abroad (diaspora as we chose to sometimes sarcastically put it) red, blue, green, yellow or independent need to come together to move Dominica forward. For the people who are on the board talking about Skerritt stole the election with diaspora votes, that is ludicrous. Both UWP and the DLP had “Dominican diaspora” voting in this election which according to the electoral system,

“There is a system of continuous registration of all individuals under the Registration of Electors Act with the Electors List being updated to reflect the inclusion of the names of individuals who are qualified to be electors and the deletion of names of individuals who are disqualified due to death, objections, absent from the state for a period exceeding five (5) years and any other written law imposing disqualification”. So until we have concrete proof of irregularities in the election results, let us refrain from making such accusations. With that said, unless there is some reform to the election system and procedures, we can’t seat hear and cry that “diaspora” stole the election. With change in the procedures, however; we cannot totally eliminate the “diaspora” because they to play an important role in the continued development of Dominica.

The people have spoken, and all Dominicans should accept the will of the people and let us work diligently to elevate Dominica. The great thing about this election is that the opposition will hopefully show up to parliament and represent the voters, put politics aside and work for the greater good of the country. That is not to say that the opposition should throw out their principles and blindly follow, but that also does not mean that they oppose for the sake of opposing. With the correct checks and balancing I believe that the present government will not be accused of not being transparent. The opposition must however show up and perform.

    One Love Dominicans!!!!

I haven’t commented on any election post before because I was told my someone I do not live in the country anymore, I living my life overseas, so I have no right to talk about D/ca politics. That particular person got money to further their studies and now have big job. I am not privileged enough to have such people up there to pull string for me nor would I lower myself.

It is very strange now that I seeing that same person saying that those in diaspora had all the right to come down and vote because they are Dominicans. I just hope that all those that say that don’t ask me for $10 or ask me for my clothes and shoes when I come D/ca because I will tell them where to go.

These UWP people make me sick. All they do sit down and complain about Skerrit. How he give hand outs for votes he bring in diaspora voters blah blah blah. If you look at the election results carefully you will see 12 seats labour won big time. By over 200 votes. You all acting like Skerrit brought down a million people to vote. Even if you dont take into account the diaspora voters Labour still won the election by a landslide. Are you guys so politically biased that you cant see that. The people have spoken and is Skerrit they want. So the twenty something thousand people who voted Labour they all got cash from Skerrit too?

Mr Skerrit congrats to you I always knew you would win. I’ve been saying that on here for months and people have been disliking my comments left right and center and giving numerous negative responses to any thing I say against the UWP. As I said before you all will cry after the elections and I was so right. Even you party leader was crying like a little girl. Lets now put that election behind us and focus on building a better Dominica. We need a healthy opposition to keep the ruling party in check.

And to the Christians who supported this blatant disregard for the law of Dominica and the Law of God, judgement must begin at the house of God first.
Be careful, remember the Corinthian Christians who violated all God’s Law, God said “many weak and ill and some have died” So be careful. You just wait and see how God is going to work in ways that will baffle us. Be careful Christians, Repent! Be careful labor party, God is not mocked, whatsoever a man sew that shall he also reap, it may take 14 years, 20 years but it will come to pass. God is a just and compassionate God but He is also a God who exacts revenge and judgement. Think on these word!!!!!

I am quite encouraged that Mr. Skerrit has seemingly found some humility….still i am not quite sold. his actions will be testament to his words…so I gaze now…wondering whether the soft whisper to be still and know god.. has reached the ear of ,as it stands right now,..OUR PM… has he learnt that one of the most precious virtues of a leader is humility??? does he now understand the need for empowering his citizens so to move in the direction of a self sustaining nation?? where the people don’t need to rely so heavily on social programs which only continues to propagate a dependent nation and burden the public purse.. the FORCE of development is in the PEOPLE… what will we witness?? I can only observe.. a hint to the PM… the country’s economic engine needs an overhaul….start with the cabinet and public service… streamline policies grease the engine so that our core economic structure is performing at the pace of the 21st century… and lets forget about roads and focus on people for this 5 years…

Headline News. Dominicans have been sentenced to 5 years hard labour.

When are we as a people going to stop selling ourselves short and wake up from our sleep and slumber.
When are we going to stand and say that enough is enough. Yesterday for once in the last 5 years, all men and women were made equal, had equal rights but yet, instead some of us decided to sell our dignity and suffrage.

I shake my head in shame but I do hope that you guys who keep singing that” Labour Ka Twavaye” is working and will be working. If that is not the case then you guys are need to hang your head in shame for this will be nothing short of treachery.

I am just lost for words as to where my beloved country goes from there. Twenty (20) years under any government should bring in serious prosperity or serious poverty. There will be no in between for Dominicans, so get ready to tie your waist and put on your seatbelt because it will be a bumpy ride

Labour Ka Twavaye, this is the slogan which seems to be just a perverse joke cause the reality is, this is contradictory to what is actually happening on the ground. Unemployment is high but Labour Ka Twavaye, we shall see.

God has given us free will to effect positive change yet we squander it and then pray to God for deliverance.

ALAS PAPA BONDIE. What have you guys done to yourselves. Shot yourselves in your foot Dominicans

A Stolen election – we all know of countless Dominicans given tickets and spending money to fly back home to vote and then fly back. We want visibility and accountability – We want these peoples name to be seen all over and yes reported back to the countries they flew from and be penalized.

It is a tragedy that Mr Fontaine did not win. I say to Fontaine leave them in their gutter politics and let the young ones wait for their handouts with no ambition.

I am calling on the DOminican people to demand answers and that these crooks be held accountable for their crimes. They have committed a great crime here – It was so glaring that money was used to send people back home. How can these people be so patriotic – vote and then go back to their lives in New yoirk, Flordia , Canada etc.. SHAME ,SHAME., SHAME….we wait

If this monster ( Skeritt ) won fairly then Dominicans will get what they asked for . I cannot as an educated man sit and accept that my people can be that shallow . It is heartbreaking what has happened here. Dominica will never see a better line up than was seen with the UWP.

What holds the people in a state of stupidity? – greed, illiteracy and alcoholism

I dont want any of you asking me for a shot of rum – you can go red clinic and get that.

The constituencies won by the UWP did they cheat to win them? Did dead people vote for them? You have to be consistent. Where you win it was fair, where you lost they thief it. After 4 elections the UWP has not learnt anything. What gave the UWP the idea that the people of Dominica wanted them to lead the country at this time?

Your time will come but not now. Learn to be a good opposition party first and learn to respect the people who you want to vote for you.

Learn to be humble and thankful. Learn to be Statesmen and Stateswomen. You multiplied your seats 100%, did you not noticed that? It seems as if, it is all or nothing for the UWP.

The people have spoken; 5 more years for the UWP in Opposition. Five more years for The DLP as the Government. God is good all the time and All the time God is good.

Once again Congratulations to everyone. Government and Opposition and especially we the people of Dominica. Well Done!!

      • NICA
        December 9, 2014

Stop talk nonsense; is the pm humble or statesman like? do you know what it is to be humble and statesman like.

The people of Dominica have spoken and it’s clear it’s time for the DLP to go; when a man who has won his seat for the past 4 elections and done it in the largest margin then to loose it like that in the Roseau South that says something.

When Timothy who has won his seat for the past 25 years and now lost it, you have to question yourself.

It’s time to go when you’ve lost all the seats in Roseau. The location of the main hub in Dca, when you claimed you are loved and wanted by the people. Roseau is the heartbeat of Dominica, the center of commercialization. You are rejected by the business community and you should take heed.

Never mind that you won in the outer district where the population are smaller and the people are less intelligent, but don’t worry they are just slow to pick-up and they will soon put you out.

Israel asked for a King, God told them all the evils that the king will bring upon them. They INSISTED that they wanted a king. God gave them Saul.. Dominica wants Skerrit – God allowed it.

In the desert God gave manna, the people did not want manna, they wanted quail. God gave them quail and the ate until the died. Dominica wants Skerrit – God allowed it.

LESSON: The voice of the people is not always the voice of God. God sometimes allows us to take our path, against his best desire for us.
