Dominica Labour Party (DLP) candidate for the Roseau North Constituency, Julius Timothy, is calling on the people of Fond Cole to turn out in large numbers and vote for him during the December 8 general election.
Timothy told supporters at a DLP rally in Fond Cole on Tuesday night, he is always available to his constituents whenever he is needed.
“Other than prime minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, I am the minister who sees the most people in government headquarters,” he said. “When they cannot come to government headquarters they come at ACS on Saturday mornings, so people of Fond Cole you have a good thing.”
He said all misgivings must be cast aside because when he was “on the other side” all the people of Fond Cole voted for him.
“So come December 8th I want all the people of Fond Cole to vote Julius Timothy,” he said. “You all must realize that you have a very, very good thing in Julius Timothy. You call can call me anytime, no matter where I am just call me and I will be there for you…”
Timothy stated further that he has provided sponsorship to every sporting activity in the Roseau North.
“In Roseau North between Julius Timothy and his companies, every sporting activity we are there sponsoring,” he stated. “In Goodwill we have New India Goodwill Runners, the women football team. We have ACS Zebians, we have ACS Tarish Pit Football. You have Timothy’s Bay Boys in Pottersville, you have Tarish Pit Rounders Team…You have Fond Cole Domino Team…You have Fond Cole Small Goal League-Julius Timothy. You have Fond Cole Basketball League-Julius Timothy…”
Meanwhile Leader of the DLP, prime minister, Roosevelt Skerrit assured party supporters that Timothy is not contesting the general election for personal gain.
“Julius Timothy, my brothers and sisters, is not in politics today for personal gain,” he noted. “Julius Timothy is not contesting this election to secure himself financially. I will go as far as to say that given his known private investments, Julius Timothy might be making a personal financial sacrifice by remaining in politics.”
Skerrit described Timothy as “a committed and devoted individual, a man who loves Dominica and Dominicans” who wants one more term to bring projects to fruition.
“I spoke to him very candidly last year and Julius said to me, prime minister I need one more term to see a few crucial projects to fruition. There are few things I have promised people of Roseau North and I could not live with myself if I did not see them through to completion,” he said.
According to Skerrit, even when Timothy fell ill last year, his pre-occupation on his sick bed was seeking an update on when certain projects could get started.
“I know he have a passion for the new general hospital to be built in this constituency, a $200-million state of the art hospital,” Skerrit said. “I know he is very excited about the proposed new indoor sporting facility to be located at Stockfarm.”
He added, “I know as well that he desperately wants to see the next phase of the housing revolution visited upon this constituency in a major way. So Julius Timothy is not knocking on your doors to promote himself…Julius Timothy is tonight seeking a new mandate to resume and conclude the many projects he has outlined for his constituency, but which have been delayed due to the impact of the crippling global economic recession.”
Timothy has been the Parliamentary Representative of the Roseau North constituency since 1995.
He crossed the floor from United Workers Party (UWP) to the DLP in 2007.
After his bout with a stroke, I really thought Mr. tim tim would have cooled out and retire! boy power is really addictive for real.
Once upon a time I never missed a meeting in “Lagon” especially when Tim Tim was on the platform. Back then I believed that Tim Tim stood for a different kind of politics. He is a learned man and he worked very hard to attain his success.
As time went by, Tim Tim lost his way. The hospital is a complete mess. The last time I was at the “Princess Margaret Hospital,” cupboard doors were falling of their hinges. Mold took over and invaded the walls of the building.
The substandard care that patients receive is unacceptable. Sleeping on uncomfortable metal beds from the stone age was even worse. Some members of the medical staff do their best but the entire system needs an immediate overhaul.
As Minister of Health, Tim-Tim has been a failure in this area. He can afford to fly out to neighboring islands for medical treatment when he needs it.
If Danny is successful on December 8, 2014 I sincerely hope that he makes the construction of a new state of the art hospital his central theme and mission of the highest priority.

Julius Timothy is the biggest …. Dominican politics has ever seen. Timothy knows that Skerrit and the rest of the Labour gang do not want him in their mix, he was the founder of the UWP and invested a lot of resources In that party, he served as finance minister in the UWP government and was responsible for all its financial successes and failures. Eddison James was P.M. but Julie had the purse and was more powerful than Eddison.

It is not DLP personal money they are spending. The money belongs to our country. It is tax payers money and we all pay tax. So all citizens of Dominican can come if they want.. That money belongs to all of us but it is sad the way this DLP government uses our money to give to its supporters. I do not understand why persons think that being fat is good. Too much fat is the reason for hypertension, stroke, heart attack etc. The Minister of Health lost weight to be healthy. Have you ever seen him on the walks. He was on the last cancer walk and other walks. If you did not know, now you know … get on with the program and join the slim trim train … Fat is not always healthy.
