Candidates who want to be elected to Dominica’s Parliament in the Soufriere Constituency by-election will begin the formal process of doing so today since it is Nomination Day.
The process begins at 9:00 am and ends at 4:00 pm.
Candidates are expected to present themselves in order to be nominated.
The Dominica Labour Party’s (DLP) candidate is Denise Charles who was officially launched at a rally in Pointe Michel last week.
She will be facing Higgs Adam of the opposition United Worker Party (UWP).
Each candidate is expected to make a deposit of $500, which at the end of the day is deposited in the treasury.
When all the documents are in order, the information is then sent to the Electoral Office where the process of preparing the ballot papers with those who had been properly nominated printed on them.
The by-election is expected to take place on June 7.
It came about because former MP Ian Pinard resigned due to allegations of inappropriate behavior involving a minor.
We must have faith in the people they will not vote for Denise who is now a people’s person for only this election.

Very disappointed with the Dominica Freedom Party for not having a candidate in the Soufrierre Constituency election. This should have been a great spring board to make Dominicans aware of its intensions in order to try to regain Government again. Such a formidable political party in the seventies and eighties , a party which dominated the Soufrierre Constituency, it has missed a great opportunity to let Dominicans know that it isn’t just a political talk shop political party on a Wednesday night once a month, but is ready to start the ball rolling for the next general elections. With the next general election approximately three years away, missing this opportunity, I cannot see the party making any significant impact. Therefore, I believe the time has come when Reginal, Bosso and the Doctor close up shop, and find something more profitable to do with their time on the last Wednesday night of the month and endorse the UWP.

So, Skerrit, Denise and other members of Cabinet and their friends who are campaigning in Soufriere, Scott’s Head and Gallion not seeing the potholes in the Pte Michel/Soufriere road.
So many potholes on that road! Instead of giving away money and materials to buy votes, why don’t they make sure that the potholes are filled? All you can afford to replace your shocks and get good care for your SUV’s, but the average vehicle owner from Soufriere/Scott’s Head/Gallion who not getting some of our own tax dollars from Skerrit and company, cannot afford to have our vehicles damaged on that road.
People, ask them to fill up the potholes. That’s important.

Imagine in one of the rallies held, or at a cricket match in the Windsor Park, some mad person decides to plant a package, claim is terrorist, bomb scare, call police and for all you know, panic, fear, stampede, people running for their lives, limbs broken, possibly loss of life in the confusion and chaos?
Dominicans, just think of what Skerritt is doing to you and your beautiful, peaceful country.
Skerritt has on several occasions behaved extremely irresponsibly, displaying a foresight into such criminal acts and claiming that he knows is the opposition who do such things, without any proof, evidence or anything. Just to create confusion, hatred for each other, he engages in false hoods..
What a dangerous thing to do. Make up, concoct a story like that, just to get the police to harass, victimize and arrest anyone who expresses concern about bad governance, corruption and other illegal acts. Skerritt such behaviour is criminal and only dictators behave that way.

Not once have they mention their support for our children. Listening to them it feels like the UWP abused Ian Pinard and Joshua Francis . No where in this world that Ian Pinard nor Joshua would be close to a public event let alone be actively involve. But please understand that JEHOVAH GOD always protect the innocents. I going all the way with Higgs Adam! Up to this day Skerrit has not told us why we have a by-election less than two years after we had a general election. After all, am I a fool? In 2005 we voted for Ian Pinard and the DLP; In 2009, he said he was sick and encouraged us to vote for Sam Martin; Apparently the DLP failed to deliver through Sam Martin, so in 2014, Ian Pinard seems to have gotten healthy and decided to run. He ran and won by a wide margin. Two years later he resigning and he and Skerrit refuse to tell us what he did, why he resigned or why Skerrit fired him and they presenting a foreigner, a female Grenadian to us as a replacement? Do they think we are so foolish? You mean what Ian Pinard allegedly got involved in is so bad, so disgusting that Skerrit could not find or trust another man to replace him? No man from the constituency wanted to align themselves with that? So bad that Skerrit could not find a national to replace him? Shame on Skerrit, Ian and the DLP!

What a thing. People of Dominica we need to stand up for once. we need to make this government accountable to pass laws to protect our children and not glorify one of their own who was charged with a serious allegation of one of our youth, could be anyone of us daughter.
We need transparency and we need to demand a complete investigation of the Panama papers. If we don’t stand up and send a clear message that the power lies with the people and not the government we are looking for problems. Stand now before it is too late, Vote the UWP.
Can DNO do some research and find out what is the Nomination process and what documents are involve,what kind of due diligence is done once these documents are presented?

As the saying goes, beggars are not choosers, they have no choice but tomdo so, imagine some of them keep saying that they voting who giving them money to feed their children, who giivng them money every five years when they never work in their lives and having Skerrit giving them thousands of Dollars whereas the other parties do not have money to give them, so they will keep on voting for Skerrit, somemof them even saying that they cannot wait for elections to come. I am hearing this all over the constituency, what they fail to realize is that skerrit isnot creating jobs for them so that he can keep them poor, so that they can go down on their knees to beg him, while at the same time he is providing for his children, his families, see how many contracts his brother and cronies mare getting all over the place, he is creating all sorts of jobs/positions for his people, mso that the will be able to take care of themselves and families, and he is fooling to less fortunate with crumbs
