The United Workers Party (UWP) heads to Londonderry on Sunday to celebrate its 25th anniversary rally in what party officials describe as a “defining event in the political history of Dominica.”

Party leader, Lennox Linton, said the rally will give Dominicans from all walks of life the opportunity to be part of “living Caribbean history.”

“Those of us who were at the Great Londonderry Rally in 1988, when the UWP was launched, have the opportunity to bring our children, grand children and extended family to commemorate with us, with the first political leader Hon. Edison James, and with the new generation UWP team, in one of the greatest political events in the history of Dominica,” he said.

The theme of the rally, is, ‘Change is a must, Together we will.’

Speakers will include James, Guy Joseph from the UWP in St. Lucia, Leon “Chaku” Symster, Chairman of  United Progressive Party of Antigua, (UPP) and party leaders.

Speeches will also be heard from the UWP’s youth arm, its women’s organization and “members of the old and new UWP team.”

Dominica’s own WCK will perform, along with  Club DVD, calypsonians and local cultural groups.

“Londonderry will be another giant step by the people up to the mountain top to victory,” Linton said.

Please, all DLP supporters, Guava leaf is good for diarrhea.
Just steep 3 to 4 leaves in hot water for 6 mins, then drink when cool. For Skerit and his ministers, use 8 to 10 leaves.
I know all you must have loose bowels after you see that massive crowd.

I am trembling. The young leaves or the mature leaves? Ouch! my stomach is talking. I am going to call Charlo because his stomach does not look too right. Dkerrit is answering the mobile from the toilet. I heard the splash and then a flush. The strange one always has chronic diarrhoea for some time now.

When people are ready for change, there can be a swell. The DLP currently enjoys a majority of 18-3, but they can be defeated soundly in the next general elections if the momentum for change continues to build. A groundswell can wash away the DLP. The tide changes quickly in politics. So, an 18-3 majority can be surmounted and supplanted.

But Mr. Letang and the executive never supported the office of the president when Lennox Linton was accusing the President falsely for Corruption.

When Lennox Linton Called the President a “black Dominican breed and bread Country Bookie from Grand Bay”

When the UWP requested the President to take action in matters he had no Power then accused him of being bias.

Why should Mr Letang and the executive no find it convenient to seek to claim they are defending the office of the president over a non issue. Is it to show their partisanship?

What is wrong with a Minister going straight to President.

    Barrack Obama Senator to President

Barrack Obama was considered a far left Liberal Democrat another word for very, very partisan politician

He has to work with both houses of Congress.

The members of the DPSU elected an executive to represent their interest which they did a poor job that cost them deduction from their salaries after they followed wrong advise from the executive.

Dont blame Charles Savarin for your incompetence in the matter.

To come at this moment and state that Charles Savarin is a bad choice as he has not shown that he is in a position to unify the nation is seeking childish revenge on a skillful negotiator.

Instead the DPSU should seek counsel from Charles Savarin because there are always grater and lesser persons than us.

Charles Savarin is the best there is in that field.

    • September 29, 2013

So you pretended that you supported Alix boyd-Knight which was a ” lie” because if you can now say Charles Savarin is the best their is you a just a hypocrite.

The Dominican Constitution and the American one cannot be compared they are very different documents.
We know Mr. Skeritt is a supporter of an executive style president He made that clear recently but He will have to respect the Constitution as it is right now !This is not America nor is it Venezuela it is Dominica and we will stick with our Constitution.

Dominicans are leaving in a mirage, they think by changing leaders and party will help this country.

How many years Dominica has had issues with its economy? Will the cost of living decrease? Will more Dominicans come home? Will there be less crimes? Do any of the leaders have a road map for economic recovery? Will avenues be open so that our agro-processing will increase the revenue and our GDP?

The people of Dominica are once again living on false hopes and dreams, Skerrit or Lennox the country will still be the same, little projects here and there to fool the people so that they can remain in power to full their pockets!

    September 29, 2013

Pleasant day to all my lovely Dominican people. I am addressing this comment to the people of Marigot. I am using compare and contrast. Draw from it your own conclusions….. Mr Edison james was PRIME MINISTER for a full term and yet Marigot people have nothing to show for that. Even the fisheries complex was done by the DLP. Pierre Charles and Roosie Douglas were not so fortunate yet, they left their mark on their communities. Roosevelt Skerrit has transformed Vielle Case.

Lennox Linton is a brilliant orator. Does this qualify him to lead? He can list all the problems. Has he ever offered a solution?

Mr Linton has never been a people’s person. He prefer’s the “grand jean”. He would come to Marigot and visit his father. Did he ever mingle? Does he visit poor people’s home? He lives in Morne Daniel.

Roosevelt Skerrit built his house in the middle of Veille Case right among his people. He goes to anybody’s house.

Like I said, draw your own conclusions.

    • ()
      September 29, 2013

Your filth and garbage does not even fit dumping in the landfill. It is for your own consumption. Edison was Dominica’s PM, and he gave exemplary leadiership with a series of accomplishments, in just four and a half years. You know the days of your God Skerrit as PM is soon coming to an end, so you are clutching at straws. Your garbage will not sink into the heads of suffering and poor and unemployed Dominicans.
Linton is the best we have at this time, and don’t forget Skerrit was the one who asked him to come into the ring.

I intended to read and not say anything, however against my better judgment, I am forced to comment because of the nonsense like what I am responding to.

It is so sad that people like this so called Democrat, is of the opinion, the UWP party came about because of hate! The funny thing I find is that there are people who walk the streets of Dominica everyday, preaching hate, and in fact act hatefully by physically hurting people, they kill because of hate, and are set free by the courts in our country, or simply given a slap on the their wrists!

There are some stupid people who do not understand the meaning of the word “politics,” and to those people, I say it might be better to simply shut-up rather than writing crap, exposing their stupidity to the world!

We have a situation in Dominica, where a certain politician mobilized demonstrations bringing down this sane Labor Party, while Patrick John was Prime Minister of Dominica. The labor party was the same party which unleashed the then Defenses Force on the people of our country, hence killing a few demonstrators.

That came about because of bad politics in our country; tomorrow, Monday, as far as it appears right now; that sam politician who instigated the demonstrations against the Labor Party, was given a ministry within the same Labor party, when they made a comeback; and from the way it looks it seems as of tomorrow, this same politician will become President of Dominica; Head of State!

Which can we consider hateful, and an hateful act?

Could we consider what led to the downfall of the Labor Party in the past hateful; or the formation of a political party the UWP, which has not killed anyone, nor treachery was ever involved, except the party was formed, to try and change the status quo, after the Dominica Freedom Party failed after holding on to Dominica for almost twenty years without accomplishing anything.

Indeed the UWP won, Eugenia had to go, the people decided that at the pools, they lost again at the poles in less than five years. That also was the wish of the nation: Remember Timothy, he was viscously attacked by the Labor Party, over matters involving the Shine Company, every allegation levied against him by the labor party was a lie; eventually, Timothy, found his way back into the Labor Party, and is now our Minister of Health!

If you followed such events, you may have said “they hate Timothy: baloney, politics is a dirty game, and those of us who does not understand it should simply shut our mouths!

DNO, I would like to suggest you do not censor this, because we are talking about our nation history here; my last bit on lesbian thing was censored, I spoke the truth on the matter, and saw no reason why my comments should be censored!

Greediness, insult, disrespect for the constitution and the citizenry, arrogance, ineptness in leadership, high unemployment, begging syndrome,BOBO GALOREL etc etc, are all the shameful featutres that this Skerrit Labour Party (run by GREEDYfreedomites) represents. SHAME ON THEM…

I do hope that today’s speakers will speak about what UWP plan to do to move Dominica forward. What will be done to create jobs and solve all the issues that the leaders of the UWP say are in Dominica. The time has come to do away with the old type of politics of name calling and just for opposing sake. There are Dominican who understand what is going on in the world and understand the works of Government. Its easy to point fingers. UPP asked for change in Antigua and Antigua given them change and today the once leading island in the OECS is under an IFM program. So before you ask for my vote, let me know what programs you have in place to better Dominica. Until then I will be supporting the DLP. Leadership is what Dominica needs. Not attacks on individuals who have contributed to the development of Dominica.

Please don’t speak from an uninformed position. You let iT sound like it’s the Upp that cause antigua to engage in a stand by arrangement with the IMF. You know I has been working at the ministry of Finance in antigua for the last 13 years and I can tell you that you are trying to mislead people. For some reason I find you dlp supporters love to behave that way. Just say you supporting dlp and we are ok with that everyone have a choice to support who they want. The uwp always speak of their plann but u all don’t listen or refuse to .i sure you know that an international airport is part of the uwp medium term plan. You heard the uwp mention about manufacturing, revitalizing agriculture. Good governance, reduction in vat, improve health care etc. I could go on and on. But it make no sense be cause you all are requesting a plan from one in opposition and not from the government who have the mandate to take the country forward.

The fall of the Stanford empire, the fall of the gaming industry. Who caused it was it the ALP or the UPP. Was it the UPP rep who said they had a lot of investors out their waiting to invest in Antigua. The Car park, half moon bay the many court cases that the government lost. the fencing scandal that you know very well about. I can go on and on. You speak of the international airport as a smart person. the airport will take 10 years to building what happen to the 300 students leaving school each year what job will be created. we can continue to dialogue. I speak to issues and not pie in the sky ok.

      • ted lewis. (posie)
        September 29, 2013

@ sports lover, are you saying the Upp cause the fall of Stanford empire and gaming industry. We all know what happen to stanford and you should know the the gaming industry was destroy by USA which is why the ALP took the USA to court. Halfmoon bay been close down since 1997. So I cannot see how that being an added factor why Antigua went to the IMF. The car park is a BOOT arrangement and did not impact on the consolidated funds. I also like that one that I should know a lot about the fencing… I don’t want you think that I am defending the Upp. Like I said I am finance for 13 years which means that I work under both administration. Had we gone to the IMF in 2002 the country would be in a better shape today. Instead we went to the ECCB and created a home grown stabilization program. In that program we were suppose to reduce the size of the public service and get expenditure in Li e with revenue. This never materialized and we continue running un sustainable deficit finance by increase of arrears and unpaid vouchers. You know the end result. Salaries were late and we had to borrow to meet recurrent expenditure. that’s food for a fiscal crisis. The government lost power the Upp came did reform on the revenue side but never got control of expenditure. With expenditure high, fall of Stanford causing high unemployment, lost of quarter billion from clico and BAICO, and the recession of the USA, Antigua economy went into a crisis. I called it a triple whammy. Revenue decline by over 25 percent. The rest is history. Now am not saying that the Upp did not do some unpopular things. Both administration have done some unpopular things like most government in The region. I am saying here that even if the ALP did not lost Antigua would have still gone to the imf.
With regards to the international airport I have articulated on many threads on DNO how it’s going to impact the economy. By the way the man that’s in charge of the most important institution in the OECS the central bank is on record stating that dominica needs an international airport. Is he practicing voodoo economics at the bank. If so our monetary policy should not be in his hands. No international has been built and there exist no jobs for the 300 students leaving school. Most will do like migrate. An international airport is a facilitator of economic development. This will boost the tourism Sector and we will see more hotels being built and this will create the backward linkages In the agricultural sector. Ask you self one question why is it that dominica is so beautiful but we lagging behind in tourist arrival. Why no recognize hotels is coming to dominica. Why no big private investor is coming to dominica besides a few call centers. Is it that we just bad lucky.

Time frame Ted Lewis. All that what you said is fine and good. But time frame. If the UWP gets in power how will it be done. When the UWP was in power for 5 years did they develop a plan for the airport that if they gain power will they be implementing the plans. The nice talk and putting words together sounding all good is over. Its action, action, action

This is our country, the land of our birth…..a unique land with so much that we love and enjoy from God our father!! It is our responsibility to not put politics, political parties or politicians between us as a society, as a country!! We need to all look out for the future of our country and its people!! Having said that, I must compliment Ronnie Isidore for a massively powerful speech and delivery!!! He was truly inspiring today!!! And the speakers from Antigua and St.Lucia have been really wonderful today with their speeches…….missed a few of the others but I encourage all to pull together and fight this fight united as ever with the intention of moving our country forward and out of this quicksand. Power to the people!!!! Peace and love all the time!!!
