The United Workers Party (UWP) will hold a convention on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the Jones Beaupiere School in La Plaine.
In a release the party said the convention is expected to be “the first step in a major island wide campaign to boost the party’s readiness to take over the reigns of government whenever the next general elections are called.”
The release said the Open Session commences at 1:00 pm and will be broadcast live on radio. This session will be addressed by President of the Party Hon Edison James, the Political Leader, Hon Ron Green, Leader of the Opposition, Hon Hector John among others.
This will be followed by the Closed Session, where delegates from the various constituencies, along with the Party Leadership, will hear and deliberate on various reports on the activities of the party.
A new National Executive committee to run the affairs of the party for the next year will also be elected. Delegates are also expected to move debate and pass resolutions touching on various issues of national, regional and international nature.

Well I was born in Dominica raised in St Thoman and New York. I have never voted in DA but it is very constructive to have two relatively effective Parties in that way our country can prosper. I came to Dominica in 2010 and I inquired about a business license and I was asked which party I support. I told the gentleman that I reside in NY so I do not vote and he seems upset. This kind of attitude is destroying our country.
