Several supporters of the United Workers Party are now gathered outside the Electoral Office on Turkey Lane in response to a call from their political leader, Lennox Linton, to join him in visiting the Electoral Office to “seek answers” pertaining to the results of the Dec 8 general election.

“There are a number of questions that the electoral commission must answer now about the conduct of the election in the Grand Fond, Morne Jaune, Riviere Cyrique Constituency and why are things the way they are right now,” Linton said on radio recently.

The UWP leader is demanding that the Electoral Commission make themselves available to talk to his followers and the people of Dominica about these concerns.

I have asked these UWP people to answer one question.UWP lost, lost, lost 1,163 votes in thee 2019 elections.Where did those votes come from?Want to know whether the 1,163 votes UWP lost were votes from the DIASPORA or votes from people living in Dominica? If it is votes from people living in Dominica it mean the Dominican people has rejected UWP.

Is this the LENNOX LINTON the UWP followers envision as the future leader of DOMINICA? How shameful and disrespectful his angry outburst on Francine Baron. The more I listen to LENNOX LINTON the more convinced I am that he should never be given the opportunity to lead this beloved country. ELAS!!!

Try to understand Mr.Linton’s position. He really thought he was going to become the next Prime Minister, winning 17of the 21 seats (The Chronicle, December 12, 2014 issue, back page). It must be very devastating for him to win only 6 seats. Please try to understand. He must blame it on something as he could not have been that mistaken. Remember the UWP visited overseas Dominicans this year to introduce them to the Party and tell them about its plans but they were not supposed to come home to vote.

    Please understand….

UWP needs to relax. Should they keep this up they’re guaranteed never to win any election. Too angry. Always a rowrow. Stop, relax and effectively plan for next time around.

Why is the diaspora votes illegal? How can you tell citizens of any country that they can’t vote in their country. Are you angry because you could not afford give tickets at the same scale as the DLP? What really is the issue?

As much as I believe it’s time for a change. Change from Labor to what? You guys are definitely not ready. You really believe Dominicans will refuse hand me down and vote for workers a party that opposes their dependency mentality.

Stop the bitterness. I am so fedup of this nonsense. Grown men behaving like kids being raise without proper parenting. Your foolishness is making Skerrit look good (defeat your purpose). And that’s not good for your party nor the country. When will you guys learn? Is there a level headed person on the UWP team?

The bitterness originated in 2000 after the defeat and has transcended. It’s contagious. Please, please – for your sake, that of the country get some help to deal with your bitterness. It’s not healthy carrying angry for so long.

Love my country, love my people – DLP, UWP – one love.

Lennox Linton should be ashame of himself. He is trying to create civil unrest, division and an uprising amongst the citizens of Dominica.
Does he really believe by organising a mass protest outside the offices of the electoral commission is going to create a sudden re-election? Well forget about it. It is over; you have lost.
If he has any grievances regarding the manner in which the election was conducted; then he should go through the proper process; not targeting the offices and staff of the electoral commission.
And why are you targeting the employees of the electoral commission? And what about the safety and welfare of the employees of the electoral commission? This is very irresponsible from a man who should know alot better.

This man is the leader of the opposition who has just contested a general election and lost; yet he simply cannot accept the result.
Rather than accept the result gracefully, he has now embarked on a campaign of trying to destabilise the country.
This is the same man who was screaming about democracy until he went hoarse. Now he cannot accept the will and wishes of the people via the same democratic process he has been preaching about. How convenient????

These are the actions of a very selfish and self centred individual, who is only concerned about his own self interest rather than the interest of the country.
He is preying on the ignorance of a minority few hoping that the wider electorate will take self pity upon him.
MAN GROW UP AND STOP ACTING LIKE A SPOILT LITTLE BRAT.

The problem the nation has is those who claim they have wisdom and knowledge have no understanding. Knowledge and wisdom built the house but it was understanding that furnished it. First, wrong is wrong and right is right. To acknowledge and respect that, you must respect the almighty and that is, the creator not man. Therefore, if wrong was done,, even it’s a super religious individual or poor sinner, he or she should be held accountable. If I am doing wrong and you know, or even benefiting, you are as guilty as I am or even more guilty. However, you need people who are leaders that are real shepherds and god fearing to recognized that. Then most of these problems will be eliminated.

Are u the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Linton? if u are the leader, please conduct ur self as one. I’m sure that by ur action u have lost some supporters .How are u expect to gain respect, soon I’m expecting them to address u as Hon. Lennox Linton. I think u should act more responsible to earn that respect. When u should be thinking and planning of issues to be debated in the House, u are planning demonstrations. Linton the election is over, please accept defeat.
People from outside of DA will think that u are contesting the results of 3 constituencies, G/Pond, R/Cyrique and M/Jaune when in fact it is one constituency as we in DA would know that. It would appear that, this seat means a lot to u, man u have 6 seats, take it easy MAY BE next time,u might win 3 other seats.

“How are u expect to gain respect, soon I’m expecting them to address u as Hon. Lennox Linton. I think u should act more responsible to earn that respect”(BEB).

Sometimes I think I need to forgive you for obvious reasons; nevertheless, when I read such as in the following I must question your intelligence!

“How are u expect to gain respect”

Respect comes to someone most of the time based on the way she/he conducts themselves, if anything Lennox should have gained some respect from you based on his actions over the past days. Lennox is a duly elected member of parliament; he is now paid by the taxpayers of Dominica, hence we are expecting him to earn his pay. What the man has done thus far, is appropriate, and precisely what the leader of an opposition is supposed to do!

Seeking answers from those who encourage wrong, is part of his job. His job is to see to it that the government does what is right in the interest of the people of the country; and not only for the supporters of the Labor Party. When he discovers anything unusual, or cynical in government, he is duty bound to expose every malfeasance to the people, and not only to UWP supporters, but to the nation regardless of political affiliations.

That is how it works in a democracy, unfortunately Dominica government, and the rest of the Caribbean; is a one sided business. The majority does not give the opposition any opportunity to participate in government and the affairs of the country, the government forces its will on the people, no questions asks, and our people are so dumb they allow this nonsense to go on; that is why there cannot be any progress in the country.

At budget time the opposition should be allowed to submit a budget also, that’s how it works in democratic society’s around the world: in our country, the people and ruling government look forward to kicking the opposition out of the House of Parliament the first day it meets. You do not even have a reason to talk such nonsense attacking the man for doing what he is compelled to do, by law, and by the constitution of the country!

That’s why dominica is so backward, when something is wrong you put it off till next time, you need to deal with the problem while it is still fresh, not waiting till next time, you said Linton said CHANGE, well that’s a sign of change, dealing with the problem, stand by the man and fight, it’s the only way you gonna get change, stop critizing him and the supporters, their X means as much as yours.

Thank you, very intelligent comment; at lease you have identified the stupidity in some of our people.

They like it as it is, that is why our nation is so poor, they prefer to keep it as it is, living the same from day to day, that is why our nation has become a beggar nation, that is why so many crawl on their belly for a handout rather than demand jobs so that they can work for a living.

The backwardness will never cease in our country!

Well Amy; what can I say?

Wether you like me or hate me, I could care less; so you had better just read me and respond accordingly, whatever you say about me it shall be accepted; you cannot skin my teeth oui!

You simply have to tolerate me as I have to tolerate you also, that’s how it works in a democratic society okay! I know in Dominica you live under an earthly god, the little dictator so you must say what you believe his spy’s, and henchmen want to here, so that when they report on you there wont be any retribution on you.

As for me, anything I say here on DNO, if Skerrit stood in front of me, I would say to him exactly what I am say everyday! And if he has any sense he should appreciate my openness, because what is in my heart flows through my honest fingers.

I think he should trust me and my honesty, and beware of the snakes who smile in his face while wishing his demise.

        Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

According to LL earlier statements; “This has come to the point where we have to take it in hand; we the people must decide what we want, what we want our government to be doing and facilitating and hold their feet to the fire until it happens. Because that’s our role,” he said.

We the people decided on December 8th what they wanted and that is why 25 plus % of the electoral votes cast were cast of the DLP. On the hand, I do see why Linton needs to get Thompson elected. My suggestion, find someone to give him a salary so that he can be available to you and stay in Dominica. I suspect that there will be some changing of ranks in the UWP soon.

You are wrong my friend. Do the maths, 57.3% voted for Skerrit and 42.7% against. That is a difference of only 14.8% …and that takes into account the voters that were imported. A lot of our people are unrepresented in this government. Now you will understand why this fight will go on, in fact it has only just begun.

I said a long time ago that Lennox does not demonstrate the qualities of a leader and I have been proven right! What is he doing going on a demonstration with a handful of people demanding that the Electoral Commission meet with him to hear his concerns? Lennox you can raise the issue in Parliament!!! You have a platform where you are privileged to raising issues on behalf of your Constituents , Constitutional and other issues. It appears that you’re not aware of your powers as a Member of Parliament. You need to concentrate on the job at hand and form an effective opposition. Please don’t continue to embarrass your supporters!!!

Susan, you are talking about the election is over: However, if there are discovered issues which cast doubts over the winner in a constituency, don’t you think the candidate (Fountain) and the UWP have a right see to it that justice is served; we know Fountain was robbed, that is an issue you should be happy the opposition is looking into that which is part of their job right now, the laws of the land gave them that power the day they were elected!

Don’t you find it strange that Fountain captured more votes in all the poling stations, he led his DLP opponent to the very end, and all of a sudden he turns out to be the looser? Stating that you voted UWP, does not change the fact that the election was rigged. That sort of thing shall prevail in the country, until someone comes along like Savarin did years ago, and start a revolution. Shut the country down, force the Prime Minister to submit his resignation, and hold a free and fair election; first purging the voter registration list of all the dead people that are still on it, and also removing the false names, that was added recently by some party to ensured a false increase in the population of Dominica by more than thirty-five thousand Dominicans yet to exist.

There must be law and order in every country, and the election laws of the country must be followed by both party, and the members of the party. I am sure there is a penal code prohibiting the bribing of the citizens in order to secure their votes (buying votes is a felony). When a governing party, every five years spend millions of dollars providing tickets to Dominicans to get a free ride home, simply to vote; that is bribery, that is also buying votes, which constitute a felony!

There is nothing wrong about people living outside of Dominica going home to vote, nevertheless, if only the supporters of one party is enjoying that privilege because the Labor Party provides them with a free ticket, the labor will always have an advantage over every other party in the country. I am informed that at least forty Dominicans residing on the island of St. Marten received tickets, there destination: St. Joseph to vote against Monel, that is only forty I know about, how many came from the United States, Canada, and places such as Guadeloupe. One of my source informed me, that there were charted flights from Antigua which brought thousands of Dominican to Melville Airport: packed the building, and like a carnival shouting “five more years.” Indeed such foolish and dumb people believe keeping Skerrit in power, is a good thing, fact is they help elect him to continue ruining the country!

After they elect him, by the next day they flee the country on their return free ride, some return to the United States, and Canada, where plenty of them are recipient of food stamps, and a welfare check, while their relatives who can’t leave Dominica remain there to suffer! What kind of people are we Dominicans? When I was a boy, I remember, from Guyana, in the South, to Jamaica in the North, people term Dominicans stupid. When I lived in Antigua, I worked at a place where my name was “foolie” Dominican, that means my name was “stupid Dominican.” Even to this day Antiguan’s refer to us as stupid Dominicans, and our people prove them correct every five years, for the past fifteen years.

What can I say, Dominica is domed, all I can do is continue to give money to my older sister, and my handicap nephew for as long as they live, and I am alive as of today I have wired them enough money to feed them a few months into 2015 nevertheless, I am never going back to the mess I left when I was a kid: My intention was to return, but the events of the past fifteen years going into the twentieth year is nothing encouraging, the leader of the country Roosevelt Skerrit is an incorrigible kind of person, that’s his nature, hence there will never be any sort of progress under his leadership, and I do not wish to be part of that!

Last election Ron Green lost after dubious counts. So you saying that it is okay to have our democracy trampled on by some of you unscrupulous supporters and politicians. The rule is very simple, if an agent of a party provides you with a ticket to come down and vote for their party, that is a crime called bribery. If you have been away from DA for more than 5 years you should not be coming down and vote. Those people come down with tickets that have been provided for them, vote and go back next day leaving me in my misere and you folks think that’s alright. I believe in the movement of the Labour Party, but I wanted Linton to win, so that Dominican’s can know how it feels to live in a land ran by Lennox Linton. There will be no more elderly care which The current party provides, there will not be any free bus rides to and from school provided to high school students. His house and his fellow workers union houses will be bigger than Dominica state house. Dominica has been greatly developed under the labour party’s system. Lennox Linton needs to pay the campaign money back he borrowed, that’s the only reason his so upset. Lennox Linton provided transportation to his UWP supporters and tried to scare the Labour Party followers by threatening them to stand for their rights. His tactics did not work, he is currently in a lot of debt and a lot of promises he made in order to gain votes now becomes a headache for him right now. Skerrit, has provided furnished housing for doctors who live outside of their work area for free. Dominicans are ungrateful people, they have always been ungrateful it’s their nature. They don’t what they have. Dominicans don’t appreciate what have and learn to work with it. I was born in Dominicans moved to the U.S. As a child. I have to pay for health insurance for my kids who are American citizens. On the other hand, In Dominica healthcare is free for kids from birth to 18 and then for the elderly as well…..UWP supports are need to stop and think.

    • December 13, 2014

No Minister house can be bigger than the villas,
In America free health care is available for those are
      qualify.
You Dominica has “free care”- that is a joke.
Have you ever visited the hospital when you visit
      Dominica?
How can one pay for services, when they have to
pay for their medication, bandage, dressing.
test etc. Once you are over sixty and end up
in the hospital and they place you in little room,
      goodby earth.
The only things that are free are the beds and dirty
      basins.
This is a era of universal precaution, however, unless you are
fortunate to purchase your own; all the patients use the
same basin. One has to bring their own linen.
What should Dominicans be thankful for?
The only free service at the hospital is
being admitted-without resources or good family members
you will expire before your time.
Dominicans are not ungrateful; some of them are outright
      lazy.

This immediate top heavy strategy/approach to resolving a problem is fraught with disaster for the UWP leadership. Prior attempts should have been made to discuss this matter in a meeting between UWP and the Electoral Office; if such an attempt was rebuffed then a series of incriminatory actions would be in order culminating with the present course of action.

Leaders and aspiring leaders should contemplate possible outcomes of their actions before they are undertaken.

What if the Electoral Office employees feel threatened and decide to go home? Would the demonstrators block their exit or take other action that may be interpreted as assault or battery? Leaders must remember for every action there is or will be a reaction? Who knows what the reaction and counter reactions could be or lead to/

To looking, I agree with you 100%. In deed the celebrations were muted. Everybody – even the Labourites know that they did not win the elections.
However, until Dominicans, including DNO, understand that it is NOT a UWP and its supporters ONLY ‘thing’, then the change and progress that we are fighting for will NEVER materialize.

The call for free and fair elections and justice for ALL is EVERYBODY’S business – young and old. The media, too, have to play their part and advocate for what it right and fair for all. Do not make it appear, by your reporting, that it is the UWP/Team Dominica and its supporters that want electoral reform. We are ALL affected in one way or another when our rights, including our rights to protest PEACEFULLY, are infringed.

  41. December 12, 2014

Lennox CRY CRY BABY Linton. Grow up and stop grasping at straws. You have lost the election fair and square and you should face up to the reality that you have lost.

And your supporters gathering outside the offices of the electoral commission; haven’t they got anything better to do with their time?
All this posturing and complaining isn’t going to change anything. You were so triumphalist leading up to the election, thinking that you had won it. Now you are finding defeat a terribly bitter pill to swallow.

You simply counted your chickens before the eggs were hatched.

The margin of victory of the 15 Labour candidates were conclusive and comprehensive, therefore your complaining and whingeing smacks of sour grapes. You are now acting like a spoilt child who cannot get his own way.
Just as well you did not win the election, because your amatuerish behaviour and performance is not what you expect from a wannabee prime minister.

If you have Dominica’s best interest at heart; then why don’t you form an alliance with the government to work constructively together to drive the country forward in acheiving it’s objectives and prosperity.

You would then gain more respect and affection from the electorate and enhance your own reputation; which would then give you and your party a better chance of winning the next election.

14 spoilt ballots – 9 were rechecked and added to the 605 (figure at the end of the day before the recount) 605 + 9 = 614. Stephenson’s total is 622 therefore 622 – 614 = 8. Stephenson won by 8 votes. Thompson and Lennox stop taking the people for a ride. Stop riding on the backs of the ignorant who cannot understand the mathematics as I indicated above. Lennox and Thompson you know that both parties are represented by their agents and it is not easy to thief (as you all put it). Why are you all doing this? Why not explain the procedure to them instead of telling them about protest, demonstration and thief. That is all you have been bombarding the poor people with aided and abetted with your talk shows. Isn’t it time to stop … again you open with demonstrations. I feel so sorry for those who follow and cannot understand how Government works and they follow you headlong. It is time to stop that nonsense. Big men like you. I used to admire Thompson Fontaine when he was working at Statistic office now man I am really disappointed in you. You are making a mistake. You will definitely lose some of the supporters who voted for you this trip. Sad to think with an increase in elected members, you will be a walking out opposition.

I pray that God will put into your hearts that Election is over. His will is done and you and the other Opposition members will take your rightful place and oppose only when you have to oppose. Will make recommendations in the House of Assembly. Will eradicate hatred from their hearts and let them understand that Dominica is ours to develop. Will grant them peace and remove their desire to be in Government at all cost. Give them the peace to wait and not seem so determined to get into Government that they look like little children and not grown men. Will recognize that they have to work with the masses and to educate and not mislead them and to take advantage of their ignorance. Grant them wisdom to know that gossip/ slander/ lies are not part of your plan and they should do what they have to do in parliament to show their prowess of being able to represent their constituents in the House of Assembly. Teach them Lord that they must not take offence against the children of God when they are corrected… Lord have mercy on them and arrest each and every one of them so they will seek you first. This last piece is for the Opposition and the Government as well.

Mr. Linton cannot make demands on the Electoral Commission. He and team can request a meeting with officials of the Electoral Commission. The two sides can meet and try to solve the problem if there is one. However he is going about it the wrong way. Mr. Linton is trying to create chaos in the country. He and the rest of his gang are hoping to achieve through civil strife what they failed to achieve through the ballot box. How do the learned attorneys on his team feel about what he is doing? I can only wonder. Is civil strife the answer? One thing Mr. Linton there will never be another 1979 in Dominica again.
P.S. DNO I know this comment will not be posted but I will keep commenting as I see it anyway.
Thanks for posting all of my pro UWP comments.

There will never be another 1979.
Do you know why? Because democracy and justice
      no longer exist.
      Before the people mention demonstrate
Skerritt “mongoose” gang are arm and ready to kill.
But a nation decide to rise no army can stop them.
An army cannot kill a nation- some have to die for
      justice to prevail.
In 1979, I was twenty years and I demonstrated under
tear has and live bullets. I was not afraid.
I will do it again when time come. I become

No justice no peace. If UWP allow injustice to just pass them bye it will get worst over the 5 year’s. I can see there being more demonstration because and only because there is injustice. We must respect there democratic weights. The dictatorship stopped on 9th December. Don’t get it twisted.

  49. Thor
    December 12, 2014

Lennox and the UWP may not want to believe it but for them to win the elections, they must get a significant number of DLP supporters to move over to their side.

This is absolutely not the way to do it.

Thompson Fontain may very well have won the seat and they may have a legitimate reason to take the matter to court. But you cannot attract bees with vinegar.

As I said in an earlier post, these actions just serve to re-enforce in the minds of current DLP supports that Lennox is an angry man and as such he is not likely to attract them to his side. More than likely, they will circle the wagon to defend their leader.

I just find Lennox’s approach is too emotional. He needs to take a page out of Obama’s book – cool, calm, calculated.

For the UWP supporters, I am not anti-UWP. As a matter of fact, I would have liked nothing more than to have seen DLP kicked out of office. My beef is the strategy being employed by UWP. It is not a winning strategy.

Make up your mind for it appears, as long as Linton is around, there will be no harmony, peace and tranquility. He is not a man who wants to live and work at peace with others. It also appears only God can put an end to his charade. I hope and soon enough.

Look at all those people who came to vote and left and went back. Where are their children and grand children? they are not in Dominica and the majority of them will never come to live in Dominica. Most of them will never even visit. We need to take a stand against injustice.

Does Mr. Linton and a few hundred UWP supporters blowing horns or screaming at a demonstration will really trouble Skeritt. In order to scare Skeritt and make him pay attention, the following must be involved, Public Servants to include the main ports. The Airport, to include the Fire Fighters. DAIC to include the business sector. The opposition party, that is UWP Team Dominica. If those institutions are not involved together, knowing Skeritt, he could not care whether the demonstration is justified or not.

  58. A commentary
    December 12, 2014

Lennox Linton as leader of a political party, must do some reading up on great leadership. He will eventually come to the conclusion that leaders don’t lead and win by always crying foul. It is important to accept the nature of whatever business that you participate in and realize that sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.

This perspective will allow him to gain support from others that are unable to stomach his leadership style because he would have demonstrated maturity. Up to this point, he comes across as a child, always complaining, unwilling to accept defeat, or even give a concession speech. He seems to take this personal. Anger wins nothing in political sphere.

The dangerous and more serious aspect of this behaviour is that he is leading division in Dominica. This division, if allowed to continue to grow will lead to stagnant development or (even worse) violence. History is littered with such examples. Great leaders unite. They offer hope and optimism.

For anyone advising the UWP, please encourage your leader to stop this method of division before it is too late and your party becomes forever lost. Take the example of Al Gore during his political contest with Bush as an example of what it means to put country above self. Mr. Linton if you follow suit, you would have lost the battle, but your party will eventually win the war.

It has become very difficult to please Dominicans. In recent times, he has been accused of talking to much , no actions, now he has taken action, he is criticized. He was in a radio studio and talked for approximately six years, no serious action taken, even though he made the Government pay back money to the treasury. Now he is a politician and is doing what other politicians does, whether they have leadership qualities or not , labor party supporters have a problem. Their hero Rosie Douglas was involved in many demonstrations , so, what is the big deal.

Why? So you can feel better about yourself. Mr. Linton is listening to his supporters. You need to stop focusing on Mr. Linton. He is not a 1 man show like Skerrit. Mr. Linton is leading a team They want their voices heard and he is leading them. Just as your President led in the 70’s. Probably you are too young to remember. You should ask your President about that. When people perceive injustice they have to stand up. Just as your President did. I didn’t fault him for that. Just as people stood up during the days of MLK. Crimes are being committed in Dominica by the Government. Someone need to stand up. You heard what happened in Grandfond. yet you say move on. Why? So it can happen again. Honest people need to stand up and fight injustice. Are there any honest people in the Labor Party?

      December 12, 2014

The fact is the DLP must not be allowed to think that their actions are “business as usual,” hence the demonstration. Sometimes one has to take a stand to disrupt the status quo. Personally, I believe that the Electoral Commission should be fired for their ineptitude and total disregard for neutrality in conductiing such an important event as a national elections.

They should be replaced by an idependent organization such as the Jaycees (if they have not been infiltrated by either of the parties), or some other organization that have demonstrated sound judgement. The voter ID card should be instituted and surrendered on leaving the Country for permament residence elsewhere. The list should be updated annually with residents verifying their residency by producing a bill of sorts by a certain date…Those over 18 who are not employed can be listed under a household and changes of addresses should be submitted when that occurs…Maintaining an accurate list should be a no brainer…I mean what does the staff of the paid employees of the Commission do every day?

So you have nothing to say about the agressor of the crime? Instead you take comfort in blaming the victim. You sound like the rapist who blame their horrendous action on the ‘scanty clothing’ their victims wore.

Before you even start to attck Linton you have to consider the fact that Linton is indeed REACTING to something. It is only a fool who would be so disenfranchised, and take it lying down like a meek lamb. You should count yourself lucky that Linton is mostly reacting vocally. In another dispensation the victim would have already reacted in a real violent manner.

Your comment above made me laugh–yes I laughed out loud, not as a mockery, for you really sounded funny here; laughing is not much of a part of me in these days of this world and its people around me.

You should have asked me before you voted–all along I have saying to readers on DNO, the change which we need in Dominica must take place in our minds–not a change of government–because Dominica is doing just fine through the reign of Mr. Roosevelt Skerrit along with his men and women of government. A mind of strong wisdom would not vote for no member of the UWP–especially not Lennox Linton.

My concern now is the situation of Parliament with a person of the mentality that Lennox Linton is putting on displayed–maybe long, long before, I even knew that he existed.

And so I pray to God that He would bless our Prime minster and his mean and women, that they will be able bear patience at parliament, where the plans for the people and the development of our country begins; other wise we are in to remain at a standstill for the next 5 years with contentious persons at Parliament, like Lennox Linton—Good Lord!

This is what I would state, “We told you so.” You made a mistake and you admitted it which is wise of you. Well, everyone makes some sort of mistake sooner or later.
Look out for big talkers and election promises. Linton did not win the election. I visualize if he did there would be chaos in Dominica. If you recall what was stated, he would have put some ministers in jail. He is vindictive. He was out for revenge and for what? The man has hatred in his heart.
This man is not one who is capable of making Dominicans unite. He is a divider. I hope the Marigot constituents do not regret voting for him for his other true colors are projecting themselves with more to come. Note what is occurring. Thank God Dominica is spared such a man as prime minister.
His demonstration and encouraging his supporters to do likewise is only a cover-up. Do not expect much, if nothing, from him.

Do you really believe that Skerrit, is interested in corporation with any opposition?

      Where have you been?

In the history of our country, from the colonial era to this day of our independents not one duly elected government in Dominica has ever cooperated with any opposition in parliament, some of you are disgusting, that is why Skerrit is riding on your backs, keeping you in bondage, saddled with poverty, and blind you all from seeing the worthless state in which he has the country.

What if they decide not to meet with you? What then?

Lennox must get away from this perpetual protest mode. There are other ways to get your point across. Don’t start going down that road. It did not work over the last 5 years, what makes you think it will work this time around?

As I said in a previous post, you need to start working on your image. Start doing the things that make people like you, relate to you and wee you as a natural leader. Someone people WANT to follow, instead of a someone who only votes for you because they dislike Skerrit more.

Protesting makes you look angry. Don’t take it from me, you have already been painted as being angry. Don’t feed into that narrative.

Why do you care? Why should he listen to you? You did not vote for him. The people who voted for him want him to protest. Please look at your Prime Minister. Have you heard his speeches? All he did was scream. Leading a protest does not mean you are angry. It means you are listening to your supporters. Linton’s supporters are the ones that are angry. He is leading them. Protests are happening all over the world. Open your eyes. Remove your head in the sand. You have lost many of your supporters. What happened to the Roseau constituencies? You had to depend on the diaspora to win. Shame on who?

Where is your conscience? Don’t you have any sense of right and wrong?
He is fighting my cause and yours, you foolish. Its a matter of rectifying an injustice which has gone on for too long. Do you want Skerrit to be in there like these African Presidents? because that is exactly what Skerrit is doing. Do you want a democracy or a dictatorship? Well we do not want to be part of a dictatorship so move to Zimbaway or China.
Its not the time to divide the country? Why didn’t you tell skerrit and his goons that it was not time to bribe, steal, and defraud the country? Please give me a break.
Where is your sense of decency and dignity? People like you are responsible for the enslavement of others and the perpetuation of injustice all over the world.

It is people like you who have created the circumstances to allow Skerrit to get away with stealing the election aided and abetted by dishonest people like Lennox lawrence whose character and history are more than questionable. If these are the kind of leaders you are asking Dominicans to look up to then you are just as bad as they are. Lennox is doing the right thing and it is because of that they want to demonise him and divert attention from the real issues. Lennox will overcome because what he is doing is fighting for what is right and just. Do some soul searching – ask Skerit to face Lennox one on one and answer the questions instead of hiding behind people like Hartley Henry who as a Bajan has no righ to be interfering so blatantly in our politics. Are you happy with that or should you not be standing up as a proud Dominican to put a stop to that kind of interference in our country’s affairs. If you do not agree, then why don’t you go to Barbados and try to do what you are allowing a Bajan to do here. Where is your Dominican pride but most of you are cowards just hiding when you should be leading the way and joining Lennox in the battle for our democratic rights and freedoms.

As a Dominican, do you think you could ever be allowed to do what Hartley Henry did here in Barbados? Come on Dominicans. Have some self respect and respect for your country and countrymen! It is so pathetic to see Dominicans being treated like doormats. Where is your pride? Aren’t we smarter and prouder than that? the whole region is laughing at us. The people who feel they have had their rights trampled upon will stand up. We know there are those that have no backbone. We know there are those who have no morals. It amazes me how someone can see wrong and say its right. The way forward is not to be dictated to by you or your party. One dictator in the country is enough. Let people exercise their right to protest. Why don’t you tell that to all of the people all over the world that are standing up for their right? The world needs more people to stand up for others. Dr. Thomson Fountain and his supporters may have a legitimate concern. Only he and his supporters know, i can’t say whether he is right or wrong. But on analysis of the elections, the United Workers Party (UWP) won. They made major inroads, they won hearts they won admiration battle with the mighty Dominica Labour Party with so much resources. The DLP had everything, they used states resources (vehicles, staff) in their campaigns. They made huge payouts in cash and in kind (Building Materials). In the end removing diaspora voters they still lost the elections. Every Laborite who has a conscience and heart knows that. The celebrations were muted. Its like people are reflecting, its like everyone has awoken from a dream. There is a just a strange silence in the air. Its just a strange and eerie feeling.

Do you know that those same angry followers being created will be a monster for them if they get in power? That is your opinion. If you think of this, you would know that times have changed. The PM did not want to waste time in celebrating. Tell me what Gloria Shillingford is going to do in London as Dominica’s High Commissioner! Tell me why Skerrit is bringing back Francine Baron as Minister of Legal Affairs after achieving nothing in London over the past few years! These are the questions you should be asking.

Eunica is a professional and qualified Attorney At Law. She is one of the few brave women willing to sacrifice her career to represent her community and women so she will survive.
