Venezuela rejects U.S. sanctions against PDVSA

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has learned of the decision announced by the Department of State of the United States to impose sanctions against our oil national company, Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), as part of a unilateral law targeting the Islamic Republic of Iran known as CISADA.

The Bolivarian Government expresses its strongest rejection to this decision since it constitutes a hostile action on the fringes of international law that violates the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and its revolution have a strong, independent and sovereign oil industry able to operate and permanently fulfill its commitments. Faced with this aggression, Venezuela further ratifies its oil independence and sovereignty.

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is undertaking a general assessment of the situation to determine how these sanctions affect the operational capacity of our oil industry and, therefore, the supply of 1.2 million barrels of oil per day to the U.S. Pending this assessment, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reserves itself the most adequate answer to this imperialist aggression.

The revolutionary Government calls on all the Venezuelan people, laborers and especially the oil workers, to stay alert and mobilized in defense of our PDVSA and the sacred sovereignty of the homeland.

Reading the comments it is embarrassing how uninformed some of you all are.

Iran is not a dictatorship, they actually have elections there.

You want to know the real dictatorships? Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Bahrain and the majority of countries in the Middle East which are aligned with the United States. Egypt and Tunisia just recently over-throwed their dictators.

Mubharak of Eqypt was hated by his people for being a US puppet!!

The Saudis are supposedly the US closest Arab ally, yet the 9/11 terrorists were from Saudi Arabia!! What does that say? The US supports the corrupt dictators who live lives of opulence in these Middle Eastern countries, while their citizens are oppressed and frustrated and turn to religious extremism and terrorism.

The US government is the biggest supporter of dictatorship and corruption in the world and only brainwashed, uninformed people do not realize that as yet.

      Goog news ! !! IRAN is now a democracy !!! I did’nt know that ! when did it happen ? yesterday ?
How comes it’s not in the news headlines as yet ?

what means elections in such countries, like Iran or Venezuela ?
Why did Chavez modify the Constitution for him to be able to stay in power as long as he wants ?
why did he closed down 33 radio and TV private stations that did not support him ?
why does he jail political opposants ?

      open your eyes man !

The US has been a threat to itself from the time the ancestors reap off the indians, who are the true americans.they are always afraid of retaliation, and so they find reasons to accuse, even when they wrong and lie,to support their aggressivity.they like to play in people’s backyard and dictate to them their way of life.i don’t support Chavez and some of his doings, but the US must respect others.

Hence the reason cruise ships pull out of Dominica.
Its been a few years now that iran, russia(Gog) and Venezuela have been exerting military presence in the caribbean sea.
Iran and Venezuela have agreed to have iranian ballistic missiles manned by Iranian revolutionary guard to be stationed in Venezuelan ‘territory’ …includes Bird island and 1/2 of Dominicas territorial sea.
    Able to reach us cities.

    Amagedon at our doorstep….dimples style
Loook how israel is being surrounded by the iranian led hezbullar agenda as the world debates the september establishment of palestinian state.
Dominica must decide what side of amagedon it will be

You sound like that waco pastor who predicted the ‘Doomsday”. The sad thing about it is that people like you always seem to find a gullible few who listen to and follow your nonsemsical arguments and reasoning. No wonder the world is as it is today. What a shame!!!

Whats bugging the US is that Venezuela refuses to dance to the tune of US oil companys and Washingtons Israel Lobby.
Chavez may be a crook, but at least he’s pushing Venezuelan interests and not Halliburton, Texaco and Israel’s interests.

    CHAVEZ = IRAN = Dictatorships

I am so sad that my beloved DOMINICA has joined the ultra-leftist ALBA organisation and positionned itself against USA, Europe, … all these democracies where freedom and free speech mean something !

Hope that all my fellowdominicans will understand one day the danger of such relationships with Chavez, who is gradually taking control of all these Caribbean islands, by providing petrol and financial assistance to them.

Let us pray for DA to withdraw from this organisation

Isn’t China a dictatorship? Yet, America has relations with China to the extent that America owes China billions of dollars; could you kindly show me the logic in your reasoning please.

Secondly, when DA withdraws from Venezuela, what alternative do you have? Can America and your western allies provide you with aid? These countries are in serious recession now.

        May 27, 2011

No. China is not a dictatorship. China has its own style of goverment, and administration based on the Mandarins, that is over 4000 years old.

you are an idiot.. stop trying to educate people when you are obviously not well educated on this particular area of knowledge… ur statement is just disappointing.. VERY!!!

so go educate urself and stop watching fox news or cnn, msnbc.. etc and find the truth before you go regurgitating other people’s rubbish they want you to believe..

iran is building a nuclear power plant, one that it has right to so under international law and as a signatory of the NNPT. Russia is the one building the nuclear plant in Iran which will be handed over to Iran once operational.

The US has a habbit of being aggressive to countries with oil that do not want to make there money hungry freinds enslave them and control their country’s wealth.. (see libya)

so stop listening and read… because reading is fundamental
