Walter says 2010-2015 term will be his last

MP-elect for the Paix Bouche constituency, Matthew Walter

Matthew Walter, re-elected Member of Parliament for the Paix Bouche constituency, says this term (2010-2015) will be his last.

“This will be my final term in office,” Walter disclosed.

Walter has attributed support from his constituency for his triumph over the years, and has assured constituents that he will not leave without ensuring the success of several projects in his constituency.

“I will be working feverishly and vigorously, to ensure that before the five- year term is expired, that most of those projects will be implemented and completed for the Paix Bouche constituency,” he said.

Walter who obtained 1,157 votes to United Workers Party’s John Bruno, 151, at the last general election, will hold a thanksgiving party in Anse sol-dat this weekend, for the electors of his constituency.

to you Mr. Walter, you have done your best you may say but there is still room for improvement. We have heard your last speech at Anse-Sol-Dat, and believe by the grace of the Almighty you will do your best as you say good bye. We hope your replacement will even do better.

May God bless you and together lets put our hearts, our minds and soul together as we work for the upliftment of our constituency and Dominica by extension.

We need to include political science or government studies in our schools.

I would like to imagine that most of the negative comments come from the 151 people who voted the UWP. If the PARL REP did nothing in those ten or 15 years in office and he was still voted then that says alot about our political inteligence. Or maybe the other candidates were worst and our choices were not good so we voted the best of the worst.

We need to realize that a Parl rep does not have to be part of the ruling party to bring solid representation or development to his constituency. His responsibility as an elected official is to implement policies that will help bring development to his constituency and the country on a whole. A good parlimentarian is one who can do that.

Apparently we have not realized that in Dominica and keep voting people year after year because we like the party and we get sorry a…. representation.

The point is, for all those who voted you have a stake in the development of your constituency every five years. If after 10 years you get no representation what make you believe you gonna get any in the next 5. So if you got none it was your fault not Matthew Walters because you the people with the power put him back in. And by voting him by such a large magine you agreed to the lack of representation and development.

marked for being a man with no ideas and vision. i hope he attempts to leave a good mark before his tenure is up. at present, he has done nothing since he has been in office.

shame , shame , shame you people are not serious, people have to retire some time, why all this hostility towards the man, he has served his Country and his constituency voted him back into office, so if this man was so bad believe me he would not be back in office. People grow up and stop this atacks on each other, its not only Dominicans reading this, this is on the internet, come on

Mr Walter as a minister was less than impressive. Whenever he spoke his speech always seemed lacking – hollow even. Agricultuue, (a vital sector ) under his watch has just about disappeared. I really hope that he will not be placed in the Minstry of Agriculture again. We need some one like Mr Yvor Nassief in Agriculture to wake it up from its drugged sleep.

I do hope though that this time the people in Mr Walter’s constituency get meaningful representation.

Can’t wait for 2015.Both you and your govt have been dismal failures. And to the people of PaixBouche you all should not be saying anything about his failure to achieve, because despite that he has been continually voted as parl rep.So if he has not achieved, you all had not been learning from his non achievement either.

  18. GOD BLESS YOU
    January 1, 2010

Balance you speak like a retard, you spell like one too! “We want 21 sits?” Stupid its “seats” .Just tells me the level of intelligence of the people who voted the Labour Party back into office. Time alone, time will tell!

15 years of failure it will be! I certainly will be happy to see your back, Mr Watler. (NB: I did not say “Honorable Walter”; I cannot think of one “honorable” thing he has done during his stewardship).
How many P/Bouche students received scholareships under his “representation” ?…….
I think you are an apology for a PalRep Mr Watlter!!
The damage has certainly been done.
If in all honesty, you think you have porovided PROPER representation to your consttuents, then may your sleep be restful!
    Peace!

Thanks mr. Walters for your contribution. My mother had 21 children and she only love 18 of us.

But I don’t think she mean that in her heart.

Wish you all the best but for the 15 years you have been there what have you done for the paix bouche constituency. If i am wrong can someone please give me a heads up.The only thing that was done was the road which is incomplete. Time and time again the people of paix bouche voted the labour party and not you. They did not vote for representation from you but they have always voted party. you have done nothing substantial for the paix bouche constituency. I hope that this term you do something and leave on a good note. There are so many students from paix bouche in need of scholarships. There are so many people whose homes need repair. Their are also those person who need employment. Which ever ministry you are given this term, do like Reginald Austri and Roosevelt skerrit put your people on a job. Please do something for paix bouche before the term is up.
Stop the peep peep and consult with your constituents.

It is interesting to observe how the Dominica Labour Party as an organisation has been able to successfully make changes with its slate of candidates in many of the constituencies.

The fundamental strategy here is political relevance!

As long as a candidate can remain relevant and is in good health and understands that he/she needs to keep up with continued education and learning then democracy is alive and well in the Labour Party.

Mr. Walter came into politics I think in 1995.

A little deductive reasoning tells me that Mr. Edison James, Mr. Norris Prevost, Mr. Ron Green, and Mr. Norris Charles of the UWP and Mr. Julius Timothy and Mr. Reginald Austrie of the Labour Party will have no choice but to plan their exit from active politics as well.

We all know that Mr. Timothy is of the opinion that he ……

So expect to hear the standard excuses from Tim – “As long as the people wants me , I will be available to be of service to them” haha!!

  25. January 1, 2010

You’ve done well mr walter way to go and i hope the next person in line will be as successful as you and i hope they start working and making themselves available as soon as possible cuz come 2015 we want the 21 sits,we want the people out there that make that error in voting for the 3 othercandidates to correct thier mistakes. Thanks for your service.
