Population policy for Dominica in final stages of development

The Government of Dominica, through the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, Climate Resilience, Sustainable Development, and Renewable Energy, has advanced to the final phase in the development of a Population Policy to complete a system of structures for ensuring resilience in a Dynamic Dominica. This phase involves the actual drafting of the policy and forms part of a consultancy which began in June 2022 and is expected to be completed in September 2022. The consultancy is being realized with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), with Dr. Jose Miguel Guzman (PhD) of NoBrainer Data as Lead Consultant.

The three key components of the final phase are a national dialogue with key stakeholders, the drafting of the Policy and Action Plan, and the formalization of the policy.

Key deliverables include an inception report with detailed methodology for the population policy and action plan development; an outline of the Population Policy and Action Plan for national consultations; and the draft Population Policy and Action Plan based on the review of relevant documents, stakeholder consultations, engagement and
validation.

A draft Monitoring and Evaluation Plan, Results Framework, as well as the final Population Policy and Action Plan with the requisite human, organizational, institutional, legal, and material adjustments will be submitted by the Consultant to the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, Climate Resilience, Sustainable Development and Renewable Energy and UNFPA.

The Consultant and the Ministry of Planning will be actively engaging nationals and development partners in a series of dialogues on issues that are salient to the development of the Population Policy and Action Plan. Members of the public are invited to participate in the conversation and contribute to this key strategic document which will address Dominica’s population needs in a manner that is informed, strategic, and consistent with the country’s development goals.

The consultations will take place virtually on July 22, 2022 at the following times and

Admin: I am very much aware that you do not tolerate contributors refering to ignorant people as idiots, or fools; nevertheless, it is almost impossible not to consider of the people who contributors the sort of nonsense as in this contribution idiotic or out right stupid.
Note: Population policy is any kind of government policy that is designed to somehow regulate or control the rate of population growth. It includes attempts to control birth rates, death rates, and immigration rates—the three major factors that affect population growth.

If we focus on birth rate, we will find the that Dominica has the lowest birth rate in the world beside China!

There are villages in Dominica where no more than one child is born in a year, meanwhile the death ratio far exceeds that; I doubt that fifty children are born over a five year period in the country.
People die of natural causes everyday in Dominica, in addition to that we have a situation where lives are lost via murder, such as seventeen (17) murders in less than seven months in the country, that is more murders than months of the year!
Roosevelt don’t have to worry about curtailing immigration; who will waste their time to come to Dominica, besides Haitians and chines?
So, since population planing is part of Roosevelt policy, and he said that Dominica is the only country to adhere to the China one Policy, whereas the communists dictators demand that no Chines must birth more than two children, I suppose that corrupted crook Roosevelt is going to force Dominicans to bread like rabbits to increase our dwindling population.
      Economic development, resilience?

      Baloney!

DNO go back and do some real journalism on this one and come back to answer these questions:
    1) what is the agenda behind a Population Policy
    2) Whom are the stakeHolders
    3) who is the consultant and how much are they being paid???
    4) find out why there is no person of Hue on this company’s leadership team: https://nobrainerdata.com/about/
    5) What is behind this United Nations Population Fund

Do these ministries have too much idle time on their hand? No one is better enlightened for reading this.

The article mentions ‘Action Plan’ a couple of times. What the country needs are Action Plans to fight crime; to reduce poverty; to create employment; to end corruption; to distribute the national resources equitably; et cetera.

This government has long lost its way. Time for them to GO!

Classic example of how to say nothing in 500 words.
And please stop abusing words like resilience, dynamic, stakeholders. There are words and phrases one can easily use as synonyms according to the context.

I wan to know how the hell we are in the “final stages” of a population policy and we don’t even know what our population is to begin with

Pardon me but what the hell are taxpayers paying these worthless people for? Surely an up-to-date census will be useful to inform such a policy.

And by the way, census day was June 25th, 2022?

Could someone please donate a copy of Sir Ernest Gowers’ book, “The Complete Plain Words” to the Ministry of Planning.

The content of the book was first written at the behest of the British Government in 1948 in an attempt to encourage civil servants to express themselves clearly, fluently and accurately. To that end, I am sure that Sir Ernest would have had something to say about the overly used word “stakeholder”.

If the Ministry is short of something to do, they could put their efforts into resolving the ongoing land slippage at Antrim.

I have never read so much and learned so little. Just lots of bureaucratic-speak and nothing to enlighten the reader.

What I want to know is, do we have targets for population growth and the timelines for that growth. That was my first thought when I read the headline.

    Who writes these press releases?

Lots of clever words including key stakeholders yet again. What is this statement supposed to tell us? Well, your guess is as good as mine. More waffle from an inept government.

“Population policy,” This article said a lot without actually giving any information at all until it says there are some zoom links if you want to be involved. But for those of us without the ability or time to get to sign in to zoom in to witness these conversations (because most of us will be at work at that time). So for clarification’s sake, will this be anything like the Chinese 2-child policy? Some form of population control?
