A contingent of students from Agro-Campus Guadeloupe is currently on island to learn and explore Dominica’s agricultural systems and best practices being undertaken by our farmers on varying levels at the subsistence, large, commercial and organic agriculture.
The school which caters to students who want to develop careers in agriculture or become certified in the field, ensures that the training received is diverse and that students are exposed to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) as well as manufacturing and processing along the value chain.
The students are being hosted by the East Agricultural Region staff, within the Kalinago Territory and will visit livestock, banana and plantain farms, a visit to an organic-based farm in Bellevue Chopin, a day at the Farmer Service Center and tour stops along the island.
Students arrived on Friday January 19th and depart Dominica Sunday January 30th 2023.

Exploring Dominica’s Agricultural Systems. :-D Agriculture has been dead in Dominica for the past 20 years. Like the PM says if not CBI then what?. We need to send our students to the other islands to learn about Agricultural systems.

Whether we like it or not Dominica’s good fortune lies in Agriculture. Our history has shown us that! We were the bread basket of the Caribbean for years, thanks to the hard work and dedication by our late Grand Parents who work very hard in developing of Dominica. Can’t say that today with the current state of leadership or lack thereof in the country.
