On February 16, 2014, one little girl will reign victorious over six other contestants at the 2014 Carnival Princess Show when seven contestants from primary schools around the island will vie for the title at the Harlem Plaza.

They are: Alyssa Letang of the Convent Preparatory, China Tulloch of the Castle Bruce Primary, Kitanna Joseph St Martin Primary School, Nickisha Luke of the Campbell Primary, T’Keya Alleyne of the Pioneer Preparatory, Tia Toussaint of the San Sauveur Primary, and Trisha Couirol of the Bense Primary School. According to the Rotaract Club, the organizers of the show, the girls have all promised to put on an amazing performance for the patrons and supporters on the night of the show.

The girls made their first official appearance at the Dominica Calypso Association House in Bath Estate at the launching of the show last Thursday. President of the Rotaract Club Tyishia Williams told Dominica News Online that the Rotaract Club continues to organize the annual Princess Show since it is one of the major avenues in which the club gives back to its community and country by extension.

“The Rotaract Club of Roseau is a non-profit community service organization which prides itself on giving back to the community and creating a better society,” said Williams. “The annual Carnival Princess Show has become a flagship event for the club and is done every year. We view it as assisting young girls within our society realize their dreams, and builds on their self-confidence. The show promotes public speaking and provides an avenue for these girls to understand the idea of volunteerism and giving back.”

The show will be held under the theme “Empowering young minds, building self-confidence.”
