PWA on drive to bring back camaraderie in police force

Drigo said the police force is facing a lot of challenges

Chairman of the Police Welfare Association (PWA) Corporal Jefferson Drigo has disclosed that his executive is on a drive to bring back the “camaraderie” which once existed in the police force in Dominica.

In that vein, Drigo disclosed that to improve the esprit de corps (a feeling of pride and mutual loyalty shared by the members of a group) within the rank and file of the force will be staging a series of Trump card games, dubbed a “Trumporama,” at the Police Headquarters in Roseau on July 7, 2018.

“We have about 17 teams: police, customs, retired police officers and fire department,” Drigo explained. “It will be staged in a knockout format at Police Headquarters (250 points for the knockout stage) of the Trumporama. We will also have the police unity band from 9:30pm who will thrill those present with some good music.”

Drigo said the police force is presently facing a lot of challenges.

“The police force has a lot of challenges and it’s a stressful job,” he stated. “Police officers are denied vacation leave and their accumulated rest days which are also being denied.”

He said the PWA has visited various police stations and the officers are very happy about the event which will commence from 2:30 pm after a brief opening ceremony.

Drigo also said the police force is at a turning point.

“We love the public and are here to protect life and property. We are not perfect and things will happen. The police force is at a turning point where we need leadership and togetherness. Work hard and smart and diligently and take care of the vehicles entrusted to your care and together we will build back the moral of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force,” he said.

Drigo also disclosed that the PWA will hold a special meeting on Friday July 6, 2018 at 2:30 pm at the DPSU building for all police officers.

“We will have all the burning issues discussed and we will also have our attorney John Elue Charles who will address officers on various matters,” he said.

What has happened to the code of blue which existed in the police service? I guess it’s suffering from “Skerrittitis”. This sickness which has visited every facet of Dominican life, from religion to family life is a cancer which this Punjab doctor brought to our once peaceful and united island. Everywhere else in the world people are trying to kill cancers but this doctor …….wants to keep Dominica sick with his bad medicine until 2050 he said. He is so blinded by his false sense of self that not even his children are born citizens of this Dominica he has infected. Whilst Carbon remains chief of police, a stooge of the evil doctor, I’m afraid this camaraderie will remain elusive. However your initiative is a good one so keep on striving for harmony among your peers.

Well, lets start with an apology from Carbon to the people of Dominica at home and in the diaspora for the lac of testicular fortitude for handing the city to the looters during Maria , even when he told the masses that everything was under control , for days the looters had a free hand to steal destroy and even defecate in people businesses , now you gonna have some kind of game to promote WHAT ?, you had to have police officers from neighboring Islands after weeks of the MARIA hurricane to restore order? , Sir I think you need to put more energy on training , with great emphasis on ethics, respect, report writing investigative techniques , I have seen police officer drinking at bars in full uniform with guns on there hips , only in Dominica , the MOO- MOO at the top need to go together with the speaker of the house, time 4 us to move forward[SKERRO MUST GO]

Camaraderie among Policemen, may not be the way to rebuild. This is the Time to incorporate the People they are suppose to Serve, Camaraderie among Policemen, is the cesspool needed for all the corrupted elements to grow. The History of Policing is well documented , their sole goal then, was to guard the Rich and to keep runaway slaves/todays mis-guided young men in check. We need policing to reflect the people , as an Institution, now is the time to educate the people that you have taken an oath to serve, make your work/jobs, EASIER.

It is about time we do this . because currently things are messy with all those Political Policemen running the Force. I remember the days when you did not have to look behind your back to hold a discussion with any of your colleagues.
Today because of retribution all officers from top to bottom have to watch out for spies.

Your success will be contingent upon your will to get rid of the politics which has engulfed this once PROUD institution. Many retired cops must be laughing in disbelief to see what has become to CDPF..Mr Drigo can a police officer call talk shows where politics is the hot ticket item, and defend the wrong doings of a political party? Can those who do so protect me,if I am of a different colour?.To the good cops, keep doing your best.
