Chairman of the Education Trust Fund Willie Fevrier is calling on the general public t give generously as the Fifth Annual Radiothon of the Educational Trust Fund of the Ministry of Education gets underway this weekend.
Fevrier says the radiothon is an important part of the contributions raised by the organization every year.
The Education Trust Fund is a facility established in 1981 by an act of Parliament and focuses on assistance for secondary students in the form of textbooks, transportation, school registration and CXC/GCE examination fees.
“In the past the public have been very supportive, both local and international. For the past four years, we have collected between 70-95 % of our pledges. We need to remind people that when they pledge they need to honor their pledges,” he added.
The radiothon will be held on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. on all national radio stations.
WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO KEEP A RADIOPHON TO FUND EDUCATION WHEN OUR LEADERZ SPEND MILLIONS ON ELECTIONS, THE EXTRA MILLIONS SPENT FOR NOT GOING THROUGH PROPER TENDERING PROCESS, COULD HELP THE EDUCATION TRUST FUND NOT GO THROUGH THAT BEGGING PHASE, EDUCATION SHOULD TAKE PRIORITY NOT BEGGED TO STAY AFLOAT. WHAT IS OUR PRIORITY HERE. SHAME SHAME SHAME ON US.
Why a radiothon, when Skerit found millions to win an election??
