In Galatians 5:22-23 we were told, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” These nine characteristic qualities of the Spirit calls us to exhibit a sense of compassion for self, others and God. At this time of year, these qualities come into sharp focus as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with family and friends. There should be self-introspection and reflection in sincerity as we rekindle our relationships.
One cannot truthfully celebrate Christmas if no love, joy and peace that pass all understanding are felt from deep within. It will be difficult to express these very important characteristics to others in a genuine and Christ-like manner. This calls for pure and free outpouring of God’s gifts to us as we call for peace to all men of goodwill during this season.
We are called to love our neighbours as ourselves and as children of God we should always show patience, kindness and goodness to each other. The purity with which we express these qualities makes it easier for the favor to be return. This ignites and strengthens our relationships, pleasing to God and our brothers and sisters. We should always find it in our hearts to be humble as we display the qualities of the fruit of the Spirit during the remembrance of Christ birth.
We cannot celebrate Christmas without spending quality time thanking the Most High. God gave us his son, Jesus Christ who died so that we can have eternal life. During the celebration of the birth of his Son, we should make Him the foundation. At this festive time we should embody Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-control. A true demonstration of our relationship with God gives us a sincere insight of our relationship with mankind.
The nine characteristic qualities of the fruit of the Spirit are expressed in meek unity. They define the wholesomeness of the individual who gladly symbolizes these simple but divine qualities. These qualities make it easier to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in the true spirit of Christmas. This is the reason for the season. A time to reflect, share and celebrate is a Spirit-filled atmosphere with family and friends as God as our centerpiece.
Let us use this Spirit-filled atmosphere to recommit ourselves to doing right by God and mankind. Allow this atmosphere to become the turning point for everything pure and positive. Let us bridge the gap towards love, tolerance and respect for one another is this time of Joyful celebration. Let us reach out to those who we have wronged and those who thirst for the fruit of the Spirit. This will demonstrate that we understand how to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas in a manner acceptable to God.

Mr. John, I regret having to say this, but you have a very weak understanding of Galatians 5: 22-23, but you are not alone–dear God help us!
Galatians 5: 22-23 demand that the very Life of a person who claims to be a Christian reflects those attributes which are mentioned above they are the Principles of Love–attitude and conducts which Jesus demonstrated when He walked this earth; the Life that a Christian should live day in and day out.
When will us Christians learn that Life is Jesus Christ, demands much more than a simple sermon on Sunday or a festive season that happens once in every 12 months?
The apostle Paul also tells us at Galatians 2: 20 “It is not I that live but Christ Jesus who lives in me” People of Dominica, Jesus is no longer a Baby, He wants to be your very Life all in all from the day you were born–Jesus is not about a few days of the year–known as Christmas
It is a bad mistake to wait for the end of the year to reflect the Life of Jesus Christ–this would even mean that you do not have Him at all; this mistake could also be a tragic one for you.
