Xinhua – Cuba and Dominica on Tuesday agreed to deepen ties for the benefit of both peoples.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and visiting Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit discussed bilateral and regional issues at the Presidential Palace, Cuban State TV reported.

They agreed that bilateral ties are in “good state” and vowed to deepen economic and social cooperation.

Skerrit thanked the Cuban government for its collaboration, particularly the help offered by rescue workers, doctors, construction personnel and other staff in the recovery after hurricane Maria devastated the Caribbean island last year.

Meanwhile, Diaz-Canel reaffirmed Cuba’s continued support for Dominica, said the report.

Skerrit’s visit to Cuba came just a day before the 39th meeting of Heads of State of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in Jamaica.

Diaz-Canel will participate in the summit as a special guest along with Chile’s President Sebastian Pinera.

CARICOM leaders will seek to tackle a number of critical issues that impact the economic and social advancement of regional countries.

I can not entirely concur concur with you views. I think it is highly significant that we recently appointed a full- time, residential ambassador to Moscow. Secondly, we signed a bilateral agreement with that country, which is supposed to contain a military element if my information is correct.

Dominica in the begging mood, no cash….no jobs, lack of leadership and foresight after killing the economy. Chavez Venezuela is broke after mis-management, poor leadership, ignorant of development and playing like a super power……they crashed…….Now Skerrit and his worthless gang are out begging. Shame on your Skerrit …Shame on you corrupt Labour government, shame on you blind loyalist worthless friends.
Read this crap…you must have heard this nonsense before: Read this – “They agreed that bilateral ties are in “good state” and vowed to deepen economic and social cooperation..” Two islands on the verge of collapse and in denial. The Soviet Union is no longer in place, so this Cuba begging bowl is no more. Skerrit and his band wagon has abused states funds through sales of sovereign passport and yet with all this aid and money hand-out to these clowns they are still begging and have their people in poverty begging. Shame on you Skerrit. You are a big time failure. Go to…

What I decipher from that rumbling is that anything that puts Skerrit in a positve light is another hindrance for the UWP to achieve its goal. UWP’s strategy is to let Dominica be seen in a negative image hoping that the majority would be up in arms with Skerrit and the Labour party but unfortunately for them thatt is not going to happen.

Roosevelt Skerrit does not need the help of the UWP, or anyone else for that matter, to besmirch Dominica. He is quite capable to do so all by himself.
