ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, February 11, 2010 – LIAT wishes to advise that it has been forced to suspend flights into and out of Antigua because of airborne ash clouds from the Soufriere Hills Volcano in Montserrat.
LIAT continues to assess the situation and as soon as it is safe for services to operate, normal operations will resume.
Passengers on LIAT services, particularly to and from Antigua, Anguilla, Dominica, St. Kitts, Nevis, St. Maarten, and Guadeloupe are advised to expect a disruption in services.
LIAT apologises for any inconvenience caused.

I agree that liat should cancel the flights for safety. However people who want to make it for carnival will have little reason to travel after it has passed. My problem is that I doubt very much that liat will give refunds or air miles.

Safety first. Thanks LIAT. We all know your services and customer relations can be greatly improved, but it is reassuring to know that you won’t put lives at risk just for the money. Let’s get I straight people, no one in business wants to have customers complain and bee unhappy especially when it costs the company money.
Safety takes priority over carnival. We must not let our ignorance get in the way of safety. LIAT has been blamed in the past for not caring about the difficulty people have had traveling to and from Dominica, but this time it is Nature making that call, so let us be patient and hope for the best. We are all looking forward to having a safe and enjoyable carnival time but getting there safely is the first step. Hopefully the ash clouds will subside and LIAT will resume its travel to Dominica and the other islands, before carnival. While carnival is great, it is not worth loosing our families and friends, so we do not want any accidents!

well once no flight can come in or out of antigua the the whole caribbean link is shut down…….its carnival in trini and d/ca.just emagine the amout of overbooks and delays they going to get…lLIAT we will accept that one bec its not ur fault
