LIAT’s tribute to the late Barbados Prime Minister David Thompson

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, October 26, 2010 – The Chairman, Board of Directors, Management and Staff of LIAT (1974) LTD note with profound sadness, the passing of the Barbados Prime Minister David John Howard Thompson on Saturday October 23.

As one of the three shareholder Prime Ministers of LIAT (1974) LTD he was unstinting in his commitment to, and support of, the airline and we always looked forward to his participation in quarterly meetings of shareholders where his wise advice was the fruit of sober reflection and a calming influence no matter how turbulent the matters under discussion.

Mr. Thompson saw LIAT as playing a pivotal role in regional integration of which he was a champion throughout his personal and professional life.

We will miss his compassion but also his wit, dry humour and ability to cut through the verbiage and to focus on the critical issues of the day.

His dedication to service in Barbados and the region will always be remembered.

To his wife, Mara; his three children; mother and father; the Government and people of Barbados, we express our condolences.
