NASSAU, Bahamas — Almost 260 Haitian migrants were apprehended by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) on Tuesday and crammed under makeshift shelters in the front and middle sections of the 198-foot HMBS Bahamas, anchored 18 miles off the Exuma chain.

The vessel became a temporary holding facility on Tuesday night for the 257 Haitian migrants, who were picked up by the RBDF in two separate apprehension exercises throughout the day.

And as the sun set Tuesday, the RBDF vessel P-49, which brought 93 of the migrants to the HMBS Bahamas, set out to attempt to apprehend another Haitian vessel sighted the same afternoon.

Dominica and other Caribbean nations can open their doors to Haitians who are looking for a better way. This is a way they can really assist.

@ deeboxer, thanx for agreeing with me. Those ppl look out for their ppl, as for us Dominicans we wont even help each other out in a foreign country, they wud rather see us on the streets and then call home and talk bad about us. But them Haitians, Spanish and Africans, even if they have a small room they try to fit everyone in it..

What happens when it’s the criminals that leave their God given land because they would most likely either be jailed for life or executed and they come to our God given land to start their life of crime anew? Should we allow them in because the entire earth is all of our God’s given land? Think of your family, your children if you have any, before you answer.

If Dominicans were like Haitians, Spanish and Africans i think we’d all live better. These ppl look out for each other compared to us, we don’t!

madamtousad. UK you are soooooooooo right. I say that everday. I see the Haitians and the Mexicans in the US and they are always looking out for each other. The Dominicans are jealous and they laugh when one of their own fall…
