Registe promises a “new South City” with a development focus on fishing, agriculture and education

Edward Registe speaking at his launch as the DLP Grand Bay candidate

Dominica Labour Party (DLP) candidate, Edward Registe, has announced his plans for major development in a new fish landing facility, agriculture and education in the Grandbay constituency.

Registe, who was launched a few days ago,  said he intends to speak, work and lead the process of positive transformation of his community.

“I invite you to join me on a journey to the new south city of the future. I propose the development of a new fish landing facility at Stowe which will eventually evolve into a port of entry. It will not only serve as a trading precinct but also as an escape route by sea in times of disaster when roads leading to the south from this community becomes compromised,” he stated

Registe envisions enabling farmers in his agriculture-based constituency to invest in new technologies such as aquaculture and greenhouses and proposes the development of an irrigation system to provide water for irrigation in those areas where production has been impacted by prolonged drought which he attributes to climate change.

He said the constituency will also benefit from repairs to, and construction of, over 20 community roads under the road repair program.

In the area of education, the DLP government senator plans to undertake repairs to the Grandbay Primary School and construction of the Tete Morne Primary School and intends to introduce vocational and skills training for adults.

Registe has undertaken to do major works to improve the Geneva playing field  He said discussions have been held with the Dominica Football Association (DFA) in order to secure the funds to the tune of USD$50,000 from International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) towards the proper drainage of the playing field and to construct a wall on the eastern side of the field to mitigate against flooding from the river.

“Following these works, I foresee further development of this venue, to realize the development of a mini stadium which could host various sporting and cultural events,” the DLP candidate envisioned.

Registe’s ideas for the development of Grand Bay also includes the transformation of the Pierre Charles Boulevard into a leisure and entertainment area with bars and restaurants to promote Dominica’s creole cuisine and showcase the country’s cultural heritage.

Registe promises a “new South City” with a development focus on fishing, agriculture and education.” For all these years you sit and hang around, telling the people of Grand Bay/Sout City that YOU, all of a sudden have good things coming for them from you. Who on earth are you fooling? Or, that you are one of those blind, in denial so called supporter of this failed Odd Minister Skerrit? My advice to you people down South is to run away from failed Skerrit as fast as you can. After years of ignoring Grand Bay, abandoned meaningful development for your family the people of Sout City, now election is close, clown failed Skerrit is now in a panick because he has not got the techniques nor the ideas and intellectual to focus on the socio-economic development for Grand Bay and its people. Skerrit is a big joker and a failed Odd Minister for so long that it appears he has been taking care of himself alone. Skerrit has failed us, Sout City and Dominica overall. We Welcome Linton & UWP Team.

Another  little drummer boy, beating his lips; talking and making belief  the fart he is spewing can ever materialize?

This delusional boy, like all the rest has forgotten that Dr. Punjab HIFU the triple doctor is the government, he said he runs Dominica.

He speaks of a port of entry in Grand Bay!

So, we will have three such ports of entry:

    Melville Hall Airport.
    The Port in Roseau.
And perhaps Portsmouth shall be the fourth; if that be the case in order not to rob Marigot some credit, perhaps where the fisheries is located where Ships entered in the twenty’s and 1950’s should be revised as another port of entry.

I am going to pick and focus on one bit of rubbish he spoke: that is using his Grand Bay city port to escape, danger when all the other roads on the island are destroyed.

If that’s the case how are people from other parts of the island are going to get to his village to escape?

It is good to see the candidate has a vision for his constituency. One that is quite doable so this vision is not a political promise , but a plan for development.
When he gets in, members of the community must remind him from day one.

Do you remember Kelver had a vision in that he was going to build a high speed Train line from Roseau or some place to St. Joseph you know!

      Hahahahahahahahahahahah!

Joseph John, where is Kelver High Speed train, and the tracks?

Where is Skerrit vision of transforming Dominica, where every island would use Dominica as a model to develop their island?

Where is his promise of taking Dominica to the next level?

      Boy be quiet!

Roosevelt and his hand picked puppets like that fat beer guzzling woman; Kelver and company are people who lives out of reality; unable to think cognitively, anything that flashes through their mind they speak it in the presence of their supporters.
The poor little red devil beggars who depends on a handout from the regime believes and thrives on and believes their crap!
“A promises is a fools pleasure.”

All most Dominicans need to hear for them to vote for Roosevelt are stupid promises made by Loraine, and Kelver, compounded with Roosevelt rubbish of people going to use Dominica as a model to develop their country which are basically all fully developed!

I traveled all of the Caribbean with the exception of Guyana, and to be honest even Montserrat after the the damage caused by the eruption of the volcano, impressed me more than Dominica.

As common as street signal are and in expensive to install, Dominica remains without traffic signaling lights!

Be honest man, Grandbay has been neglected by Skerrit. Even his surrogate minister of sports could no nothing for that place after so many years and she have already been written out of the history books such an embarrassment that was. I liked Pierre Charles very much but this lot, give me a break garcon. Edward, I am sure you will be very welcome in the opposition party.

Edward Registe and his brothers in corruption operate as though they have been in opposition for the last twenty years. Why so many things remain undone during this long period? These promises are nothing more than throwing bait at the gullible and ignorant electors. Most Dominicans are disillusioned with the lethargic performance of this rogue regime. These congenital liars must never be trusted. Their promises are like vapor from the leaves of a plant, INVISIBLE! They don’t materialize. Giving the incumbent regime another term in office is like giving the car keys to a severely inebriated person.

What is it that couldn’t be done by the past parlreps that he’ll be able to do :?: These rogues are coming up with all sorts of vague promises every election campaign just to play with the people’s emotions and be elected, but for 20 years in power without any proper development to show! There’s nothing that’s not been done that this …… can and will do!!! Vote this one-man corrupt rogue regime out!!!

you make it sound like de south city that justina charles left behind needs to be undone and re-engineered.

all of you guys hinting of doing something new like you figured that what you have been doing for the past 20 years was not too progressive for de ordinary man on the ground.

you DLP candidates actually should cross over and join UWP ‘the party for change’……Lennoxx Linton as leader of UWP initiated slogan with a movement for change
since your ‘leadership is everything’ slogan has proved to be a failure and you see how de MAJORITY OD DOMINICANS and gravitating towards a CHANGE of government!!!

    choke on Linton’s dust!!!!!

all of these development proposals make you sound like Grand Bay has been neglected for 20 years and is only now DLP see de need to invest in the lives of de people of grand bay

So in short, Register is confirming that the Skerrit family party killed the former Grandbaby of Pierre Charles, so he wants to build a new one. But unfortunately for Me. Register the same Skerrit that Killed the Grandbay and Dominica, is still the leader of the Skerrit Family Party and if he wins grandbay and Dominica will just just get worse. If you want to build a new Grandbay the change is a must.

I read the headline, “Registe promises a ‘New South City’ …” and was hooked. Then I read the article, I guess I had to be at the launch to really get it. The majority of his campaign seems to be as a direct consequence of Maria and then what? He hasn’t really said anything. The schools, come on, that should not be used as a political promise, like the alternative even makes sense? Promise of New south city by having a fisheries landing at Stowe and asking farmers to diversify? Do not get me wrong, we should welcome these things but Grand Bay has been neglected for so long that this trinkets that are being used to buy our votes are starting to show their real value.
We want to see your plans for improving the quality of life for all Grandbayrians, we want to be proud of our community once more.

    • Joseph John
      September 21, 2019

@ the first,……Solution is simple. The DLP could do more in Grandbay but because it is a DLP stronghold it is being taken for granted. So vote them in. A week after election have a community meeting with him and ask for a time table for his promises to be implemented. If nothing is done in six month have a demonstration, a peaceful, no anger cool appearance near his office. Everyone in red.
Be sure he has a constituency office in Grandbay where requests can be made and feedback can be received.
If results are not forthcoming have meetings and demonstrations every six months. You vote him in he is working for you.
Road projects I would like to see is a road to Scots Head and improvement to the road to New Town. Then access roads (feeder) to farming areas. He promise a fishery complex, that should be the first demand. A credit union should also be established. Take his plans seriously and expect performance urgently. Make South City a real city.

These institutions don’t mix politics with their daily operations or risk sanctions. On another note, who is promising a new “South City”? Who has been in power for the last 20 years virtually?
