The Parishioners of the urban Community of Canefield will celebrate their patron Feast of St Martin de Porres on Sunday 6 November, 2011 with a Thanksgiving Holy Mass.
Under the theme: “JOINING HANDS AND HEART TO BUILD CHURCH,” this Eucharistic celebration will start at 8:00 and will be followed by a number of follow ship activities.
At the end of a Tridium, coordinated by the liturgy committee, in preparation for the Feast, it was concluded that a survey should be taken to determine the demography of the Community. Secondly, due to the growing Senior Population their special needs should be met. And thirdly, the Now Generation (Youth) needs to be discovered and catered for.
The first ever “We are Family Calendar” of St Ann and St Paul Parish will be launched and is carded to be distributed during the Feast of Christ the King, which will be celebrated in Canefield, on Sunday, 20 November, 2011.
Green Ribbon month to be observed in January 2012 is one of the highlights of the Calendar year. During the month, the focus will be placed on the Environment, in the aftermath of the September 28 flooding.
A Happy celebration of the Feast Day of your Patron Saint, St. Martin de Porres. The Parish in which I reside in Toronto celebrated it on November 3rd. A former Priest would also celebrate it on the Sunday when the Feast Day fell during the week for not everyone is able to attend Church during the week.
I wonder how many members of this Parish are familiar with the life of their Patron Saint, St. Martin de Porres?
Thanks to Catholic Radio and a Novena book which I have of this great Saint, I am better acquainted with his life. His story is an interesting one. His rise to holiness and sainthood is inspiring.
Members also need to be taught about the life of the Patron Saints who lived holy lives. We should emulate their lives.
It is said that if we wish to become holy and subsequently saints, read the lives of the saints and live accordingly.
Secondly, due to the growing Senior Population their special needs should be met. And thirdly, the Now Generation (Youth) needs to be discovered and catered for.
I do not understand the meaning of these two sentences. What are we saying???
Strange statements. What special needs of the Senior Population which needs to be met? Would it be the religious needs as living the Gospel fully? Other needs the government has to meet.
The Now Generation (Youth) could also be the ME generation (Youth). Other needs are parents’ discipline and that of the schools. The youth must assimilate in society to live the Gospel then go out into society and live it as well. What other needs do they need in the Church? I cannot figure it out as well.
