According to a statement from the church, Deacon Conan Shillingford is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald St. Havis Shillingford. He studied at the Roman Catholic Seminary in Trinidad, gaining a degree in Theology which earned him First Class Honours under the auspices of the University of the West Indies. He also received special recognition for gaining the highest overall mark in the University for his Thesis submission. He has recently undergone a course in Pastoral care in New York, and is currently attached to the Castle Bruce Parish as assistant to Rev. Fr. Elveau Augustine.

Deacon  Conan Shillingford’s  first Mass will be celebrated in the Cathedral on the following day -Wednesday February 3rd at 5p.m.

Meanwhile, Rev. Deacon Peter Wamutitu is a Kenyan who has been in Dominica for the past two years. He will be incardinated in the Diocese of Roseau, meaning that he will become a priest for that Diocese.

Isn’t it wonderful news when we know we can count on the youth to stand and be counted in Jesus Name.

The Angels in heaven are rejoicing and so am I.

God’s richest blessings are upon you my son.

    CONGRATES CONAN, WAY TO GO!!!

Miss Bettj, In this time of world turmoil, for a young man to take such a positive bold step in the Right direction and for you to be so negative, you should be ashamed of yourself. How could you allow yourself to make such stupid comments. Did you take time out to reflect on what you wrote. Would it have been better if he was sitting by the road side asking u for a dollar? (God Forbid).

instead you try to encourage the young man, you posting such negative comments. “Forgive her Lord for she knows not what to say”. I will not tell you more, I guess I will just ask Father Conan to Pray for You. You probably need prayers.

    CONGRATES, CONAN.

It feels good that you responding to your calling. There are a lot of negativity out there, but I know from our days at CDCC, you are a strong man and you wont let the negativity get to you.

Now Bettj, Hold your Negative comments to yourself. Give it to your Brother. Please learn to see the Big Picture. It look like is one part of the Bible you reading….

As the saying goes ” Its better to be thought off as a FOOL, than to open your mouth and Remove all Doubts”.

that whole priest thing is wrong. god never asked priests to not marry. but i guess its becuse of tradtion wen the church would give the priest land in his diocese as his own but when he had children and a wife it would b passed on to them when he dies n the church didnt want it that way…

Betty J stop being negative. You making it sound as if marriage is the highest call on humanity. Or having a woman is the best thing since sliced bread. Look at all the divorces that is going on around these days. Terrible. And the sad thing is children are involved. Why are the family court so clogged up?

You think is everybody that soft like you and yield to every “temptation?” You think all these young ladies walking around are keys to happiness? Get real.

Congrats to these young men for choosing this extraordinary path in life.

Bettyj, you are the devil’s advocate and with all the other i will help “REBUKE YOU IN JESUS NAME GET THEE BEHIND THE YOUNG BROTHER” if he was a buju and a bantan you would be singing their praises, God bless this Young Dominican Priest lets all lift him up and pray for him. Jesus Christ as tempted but greater is he that is in this Young Priest than he that is in the World. Shame on you.The Lord Jesus is calling Young Men in their prime, lets help them to heed the call.Fr Shillingford may the Good Lord Bless you always and may you bringforth many fruits in Dominica.

Betty you are one JENNY-of-an-ASS…Keep your opinion to yourself. Instead of giving a little word of wisdom, good advice and noble thought you are trying to ridicule these young men.I do not care with what your “MY BIBLE” say.It is because of people with the beetle-brained mentality like yours that some people in society cannot move forward..Instead of assisting, you’re pushing them back. See the word that come from your mouth “molestation”..Even Male family members molests members from their own kin…I speak my peace.

  13. February 2, 2010

young man a u sure that this is what you want as your profession?. GOD did create all man in his own image. He also created man for woman. my bible states that if one cannot contain let him marry for it is better to marry than burn (1cor7:9) all sin is sins no big sin little sin. to many times we hear about priest molestation and you are quiet a very young man. What is going to happen when you starts getting a little older and seeing all these young ladies walking by? temptation is serious and the devil knows just when to intervine and just how to greet us when he comes knocking on our doors. good luck on your priestly journey.

GOD’S FAVOUR IS NOT ON THE PRETTINESS OF YOUR FACE OR HOW HANDSOME YOU MAY BE. THE SCRIPTURE TELLS US OF JESUS ‘and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. (ISAIAH 53:2
ON THE OTHER HAND THAT SATAN WAS STAR OF THE MORNING SON OF THE DAWN,THE BEST LOOKING ANGEL IN HEAVEN. WITH GOD IT IS WHETHER YOU STAND FOR RIGHTFULNESS WHICH EXALTS A NATION. THE PRIESTHOOD IS NOT JUST ANOTHER JOB OF SAYING AND LEADING HOLY MASS BUT A CHRISTIAN VOCATION AND THEREFORE A COMMITMENT TO DEDICATE YOUR LIFE TO LEADING GOD’S PEOPLE IN THE HOLY WAY OF TRUTH, BEING NO RESPECTER OF PERSONS, NOT SUCKING UP TO ANYONE AND STANDING FOR WHAT IS RIGHT NO MATTER HOW UNPOPULAR THAT MAY BE. I PRAY FATHER CONAN SHILLINGFORD THAT WITH THE PASSAGE OF TIME YOU DO NOT FALTER IN THIS AS OTHERS BEFORE YOU MAY HAVE. CONGRATULATIONS
