Christians urged to reflect during Holy Week

Malzaire said Christians must reflect on their existence
Malzaire said Christians must reflect on their existence

Bishop of the diocese of Roseau, Gabriel Malzaire has urged the Christian community here to use Holy Week as a time of reflection.

Holy Week is the week preceding Easter and the final week of Lent. It begins with Palm Sunday and ends with Holy Saturday, the day before Easter Sunday.

During Holy Week, Christians commemorate the Passion of Christ, who died on Good Friday in reparation for the sins of humanity and rose on Easter Sunday to give new life to all who believe.

“The week is meant to let us reflect on the significance of our faith and if a Christian focuses and reflects deeply on what is going on during Holy Week, one could come to a serious depth of conversion and understanding of the faith,” Malzaire said on Tuesday.

He said there is always a constant need to ponder the significance of everyone’s presence on earth.

“We must constantly ask ourselves, why are we here? Are we here just to eat and drink and to make merry and just pass through this world? We are here for a purpose,” he stated.

He pointed out that it is incumbent on all Christians to take what they believe seriously. “We know what it takes for us to discipline ourselves and be a responsible people,” he noted. “It takes effort, and therefore the Christian message is really calling us to do so.”

The Cathedral Renovation Project is present in Lot Three

Meantime, Bishop Malzaire said Lot Three of the Cathedral Renovation Project is forging ahead.

“We are in what we call Lot Three …the retrofitting of the foundation is completed and the columns are changed,” he explained. “The casting is going on and maybe by the end of May we should finish up to the rim beams in preparation for the roof materials.”

He said steel works for the roof have already been ordered and this should be on island by May or June.

“So we should see at least the frame go up during the summer vacation for sure,” he noted. “And we are hoping that you would make some contribution towards that.”

The bishop said sourcing funds is the biggest hurdle facing the project.

“We certainly, at the moment, need some serious injection in finance,” he remarked. “The funds that are needed for each section of the project are significant but we certainly need more and more funds as we go along. We are close to $5-million right now so far in what we have raised, but you know how quickly that goes.”

The entire project is estimated to cost some $8-million and began about two years ago.

    Emile Zapatos April 17, 2014 @Froncisco,……….

“It is good to know that someone (YOU) believes ONLY what is in the bible and nothing else. That you do ONLY what is in the bible and nothing else.
I believe Bishops and all other religious are working for God. And I am not to judge them. They are responsible to Jesus so if they are not doing a good job they have to account to Jesus , not to me.”(Emil).

Emile, there are lots of wolfs in sheep clothing: Whereas you believe that bishops, and all others are working for God, let me burst your bubble by stating again, that is your belief you have not taken the time to educate yourself with the word of God.

Haven’t’ you read where God himself said many are called but few are chosen? Haven’t’ read where God said in that day some will ask haven’t (we, I cast out demons in thy name; and he will say to them depart from me for I know you not” that is not a direct quote, however, it is all found in the Bible!

You are contented with the crap they speak Sundays’, because of your belief in their traditional false teaching have clouded you mind hence you believe they have a special connection to God which you do not have. So let me introduce you to this part of scripture in 2 Timothy 2:15. That is let me introduce you to the Book of 2 Timothy, Chapter 2, and verse #15. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

If you ponder on that verse of Scripture Emile, you will discover that God in his word has instructed you to study, learn and know his word, the same as any preacher who has taken the time to do, and are not involved into false teachings as these Roman Catholics, and others, believe you me there plenty of false religious teachings out there, but if you know the educate yourself with his word, you will them when you hear them. The Bible also warn us to be careful with what we hear. Whereas you believe in what this man has said, innocent as it seems that could lead you on the path to hell!

Keep this scripture in mind: it is written in the sixteenth (16)verse of the same Chapter, and reads “But shun profane and vain babblings: for they increase unto more ungodliness.” Now profane can be defined as simply as “to treat something sacred with abuse, irreverence, or contempt.” Keep this in mind it also means “not concerned with religious purposes; secular, or not holy because unconsecrated, impure, or defiled, unsanctified; or serving to debase or defile what is holy.

Babbling’s mean to talk enthusiastically, or excessively uttering meaningless, or unintelligible words or sound. such are what Timothy warned about, and we find plenty of that in the Roman Catholic Chruch!

People the fact is the world we live have been masterminded by these so called great men., and still being manipulated by the powers of the world. You see there statues everywhere around the great citys in the world. So as your selfs where this different versions of bible derived from.
The fact the world isn’t going to end and one day we will be living life pretty much similar to wat u see in future films. Lol Easter was created by pagans.

    • April 22, 2014

Sorry my friend but the facts are not on your side.

Easter (or whatever other name you give it) was created by Christians to celebrate the fact that Christ arose!

On the cross He died for our sins. His death paid the penalty in full for our salvation.

God raised Him from the dead to show His complete satisfaction. The resurrection was His way of saying He accepted the sacrifice of His Son s death as payment in full for the sins of the whole world!

Please read in your Bible Romans 5:6-8, 1 Corinthians 15:3,4 and read Romans 10:9 to see how you can benefit from this.

I will share with you proofs of the resurrection of Jesus from the first century.

I will give you the names of lawyers in more recent times who said the evidence for the resurrection would stand up in a modern court of law. Several of these men were unbelievers until they actually did the research!

“You may attack the church all you want but the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.(Emil Zapatos).

If you believe that I am attacking the Church that is a matter for you, that is your prerogative, my words cannot prevail against the Church, however the word of God can. You have no comprehension of my conversation, because you are into the doctrines of Catholism, and not in the teachings of Go, and his word.

I would rather have the word of God to support my arguments, than to agree with the nonsensical teaching of any false prophet. I stand on the word of God, and not the words of man! If you rather believe the word of a religion, and not the words of God Jehovah, and Jesus Christ, who am I to argue with you?

There are a lot of strange comments an the Bishops Easter message, some of them not very pleasant. But we are responsible ,individually , each on of us , for our own salvation and our own behavior .If you do not believe or accept the Bishop’s message that is fine.
But reflect on this: Jesus is asking us to return to him! Drought in Brazil and Dominica in April is not normal. All the illness and disaster that we read and hear about is a tip of the calamities we may experience if we do not return to Jesus. Easter is a good time for personal reflection on our behavior.

@Emile zapatos, we could reflect on Easter as much as we want but until we make the Easter story our EVERYDAY practice, the Holy week means nothing. What sense it make for the bishop to encourage people to use this Holy Week to reflect on Easter when he knows very well that come Easter Monday, when the party begins, the Easter message will once again be denied and rejected by his followers?

@question April 15, 2014 “If Jesus died on a Friday and rose on Sunday how does this add up to being dead for 3 days? That is not 3 days, think about it”

First of all I would have chosen to stay out of this news article–for there is not meaning in it for me. But you are right to identify yourself as that, because you have a good question here?

I had that question in my mind also, until the Truth was revealed to me by my faith and the Study of God’s Word–through the conviction of Holy Spirit, who lives in me since years and years ago.

If Jesus died on a “Friday”(in the middle of the day as well according to the Bible), was buried, and was resurrected before “early in the morning on the first day of the week” according to the ladies who went to visit His grave, and did not find Him–and if this “first day” of the week is Sunday, then the Words of Jesus, Himself, is incorrect in the Bible, but how that be?

For Jesus specifically told His disciples pertaining to the hours of the day, here at John 11: 9-10 “Jesus answered,
“Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. But if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.”

Those are Jesus’ own words to tell us that a day has 12 hours hence the night also has 12–because we know that a complete day and night is 24 hours.

When the unbelieving Jews ask Jesus to show them a sign by which they would know that the things which He spoke about Himself were true, Jesus responded by saying to them, that the only sign they will see is the sign of Jonah.

Well what was that sign of Jonah? Here is what Jesus said: at Matthew 12: 39 -40

“ But He answered and said to them: An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was “three days” and “three nights” in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be “three days” and “three nights” in the heart of the earth.”

Read carefully to see that Jesus emphasized on being in the grave 3 days and 3 nights–at John 11 He told us that a day has 12 hours.

Once again, as far as we know a day and an night counts up to 24 hours Therefore what is the total count of hours in 3 days and 3 nights? Is that not 72 hours?

And so even if Jesus was already in the grave by 6am on Friday morning to give Him that day of Friday, to 6pm, that is only 12 hours. 6pm Friday to 6am Saturday that is 12 hours. 6pm Saturday to 6am Sunday that is 12 hours–the total hours here is 36 hours.

It is said in the Bible: The Empty Tomb–John 20: 1-2

“Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.”

Read carefully again and you will see that John emphasized that “it was still dark” when Mary Magdalene visited Jesus grave on the first day of the week–but His body was not there.

So what happened to Jesus’ own words when He said that the sign of Jonah–being 3 days and 3 nights (72 hours) would be the only sign that He would show to the unbelieving Jews of His days, if we are to accept that He died and was buried on a Friday, which is less than 2 two days, to early in the morning–when it was still dark– on Sunday? I cannot accept that idea

Again Jesus said to the Jews when they said to Him concerning His wrath against those who used the Temple as a market place–John 2: 18-19

“So the Jews answered and said to Him, “What sign do You show to us, since You do these things?” Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this Temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”

Here Jesus is still speaking about His own Body–the Temple of God Almighty, Eternal Spirit Christ of Love, whom He called Father–who also lived in Him, according to His claim.

However, if we look physically at rebuilding the Temple in 3 days, would the nights not be added as rest time? For Jesus, Himself, said at John 11 it is not good to walk in the night–so we still have day and night in that prophecy which has to count 72 hours.

Therefore it is either the first day of week in ancient Israel was not Sunday or Jesus was in His before Friday. Hence the Jews has a another Sabbath besides the Saturday one now. For God gave His people a lot of feast–each of those feast ended with a Sabbath Day.

I will accept the latter idea, for I can see when Jesus died through that idea, if indeed He was out of His grave before sunlight on that Sunday morning.

        And just one more thing!

And so I give thanks and praise to my God, for His blessing of Life in all its majesty—especially the significant tools of Life, which are spiritual wisdom, understanding, revelations or insight, and most of all knowledge of Him and His message of Life.

Faith is the channel by which I have accomplished and continues to do so through Life in Jesus Christ. People of Dominica, it can happen for you as well, that is if it has not yet happened for you

“And this is Eternal Life, that they may know You, the One True God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent” John 17: 3

People we cannot afford to wait on another human being to teach us to know God Almighty and the Life of Love that we receive by faith in the Son, Jesus Christ. By His Holy Spirit, God is ready to teach you to know Him–that was the main reason why Jesus came as a Man to suffer and die so that mankind might live.

Before His ascension He said to His disciples: Stay in Jerusalem until I send you the Promise of the Father” Luke 24: 49–that promise was the coming of the Holy Spirit, by which God would teach all there is to know about Him and the Life of Love.

The Holy Spirit entered this world as Jesus promised us, 10 days after His ascension, 50 days after His resurrection–this happened on the Day of Pentecost, which used to be an ordinance of God to His people. Pentecost was celebrated 50 days after the Passover of ancient Israel.

Also, if the Roman Catholic Church has initiated “Holy Week” to replace the ordination of the “Passover Week”, I see nothing wrong with that.

Jesus was crucified and died the day after He ate the Passover Meal with His disciples. That practice was another ordination from God to the people of Israel–the eating of the Passover Lamb was to remind the people of Israel, how God had freed them from their bondage of Slavery in Egypt–the blood of that lamb on their doors saved them from the plague of death–as God caused death not to touch those homes with that stain of blood..

Jesus’ Body represented the Passover Lamb–the Blood by which He would set mankind free from their bondage of sin–once and for all. But it must all happened by faith–not by works, especially the works of religion.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2: 8-9

    • April 16, 2014

I forgot to write that according to the message of the Bible, Jesus died close to evening time of the day–that day on which He was crucified: At Mark 15: 33-34 read:

“Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

The ninth hour according to the hour count of the Bible was “3pm” in the afternoon–meaning 9 hours from 6am of that day–not our 9am time of the day today.

Hence Jesus would have been out of His grave from the whole day of that day on which He died–the full day which would be completed by 6pm–Well? Is it not nighttime for us in Dominica at 6pm? The same for us in Canada from November to February.

If that day was a Friday, then the hours of which Jesus was in the grave could not even have been more than 36 hours since the hours of the day of “Friday” could not be counted–much worst for 72 hours, for Jesus said He be in the heart of the Earth 3 days and 3 nights. 36+36=72 (no question about that)

And now I rest my case, wee

@citizen, 10 years ago the Bishop would never try to address the Christian community. He would only address Catholics because if he did, people like pas. BJ, evangelist Peter R, the Pentecostal movement and the Evangelical community would put him in his place. Do not expect them to oppose the Bishop because if they did, they know very well that Skerrit would get on their case and would withdraw assistance from them. I don’t expect to get thumbs up because I am dealing with a very sensitive subject as we all know that religion and politics are two of the most dangerous deadly organizations on earth. Your indoctrination is false and so are your comments. Your little words which lack knowledge of the truth of why Our Almighty Father chose Mary to bear His Blessed Son cannot change a thing.
God had his plan from the beginning of time for Mary in the world, among all nations and in Heaven. No human mere words can ever sever what God has ordained. You better believe it, obey, have respect and honor Her. This is the Will of God.
St. Paul said, “Nothing defiled will ever enter Heaven.” This includes you who lack love and humility.
Mary’s part was no little part. To state this is to underestimate Our Almighty Father and to also debase Our Lord Jesus Christ.
God did not choose a little person to bear his Blessed Son. If you were smart you would know this and Mary’s position for the world. In your disobedience and stubbornness the truth is hidden from you. You make Our Lord Jesus Christ shed tears by rejecting his Blessed Mother and making such a statement.
God had a plan for Mary for all his created children and for the entire world. She is our spiritual Mother. Our Lord Jesus Christ is our brother. What makes her and her role to us? A Mother of course!
For now, you are a walking blind and dumb person who lacks godly enlightenment. As God heard you and knows what is imbedded in your heart, one day you will pay for your words.
As stated by saints, “God began with Mary. Why don’t you? With Mary you will succeed. Without Mary you will fail. Our Lord came through Her. We, therefore, have to go through Her.” She is our helper. She will lead us to Her Son, Our Lord and help us to obtain eternal salvation. She prays for us and pleads with him on our behalf. No human being is capable of doing that even as they pray to God. Do you get it?
The Ever Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ, is Queen of Heaven, endowed to her by Him. Do you think that Our Almighty Father and His Blessed Son Our Lord Jesus Christ would simply caste her aside? As I always state, one day the truth will be revealed to people as you. Wait and see be it when you die and this for sure will be revealed to you then.
If you hope to enter Heaven, it is imperative that you commence loving and honoring her right here on earth. Refuse to do so and speak ill of her, you can kiss Heaven goodbye into Satan’s cauldron of everlasting fire. You will go to Heaven on Jesus’ terms; not yours.

Words of a hymn to our Blessed Mother:

Oh teach me holy Mary a loving song to frame
When wicked men blaspheme thee, I’ll love and bless thy name.

@JustSaying,, thanks for being frank and hones though very wrong. So in essence you all are taught that it is ok to go to fete, drink and get drunk, have sex with anyone that passes by because you are not like those hypocrites, all you are humble and you own up to your sins by asking God for forgiveness. I don’t blame you because that was the nonsense I was taught by the Catholic Church until I got to know the Lord for myself. I would encourage you to read Romans chapter 6, and see if your theory is correct. Let me share two verses with you: Rom 6:1-2 ” What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”. So the reason you think it is ok to fete and go to church next day is because you have been deceived by a church which had a history of burning the bible so we could not read it.

      • April 18, 2014

        @Wilderness voice April 17, 2014

I have always used Romans 6 to show people that claiming to be a “Christian” and a “sinner” at the same time–is not a principle of Life in Jesus Christ.

We are saying that Jesus died for our sins, but we refuse to understand and accept that He buried those sins in the grave and He left them there. The worst part is that the leaders of the Churches do not know better than their congregation–so the Church remains in darkness, for there is no Light.

The is also the apostle Paul ask the question at Romans 10: How can they preach if they were not sent. Too many men are the top in the Church–but God did not put them there.

By accepting Jesus’ resurrection, and through baptism, we should understand that we die to the flesh and is raised with Jesus to live a New Life–this Life means walking in the Spirit through the attitude and conducts of Love–the very Life in us.

Too many Christians want to live in the world and its pleasures of the flesh, the eye, and its pride of existence, as they claim belong to God at that same time–that cannot work out. For Jesus said: “You cannot have two masters, because you are going to love one and hate the other.

As Christians we cannot want the pleasures of the world and to claim children of God at the same time–no way! God is Spirit in Love, Truth, and Righteousness–He wants our mind with that same shape and so the apostle Paul teaches us:

“Do not be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you many know what is the good, acceptable, and perfect Will of God”. Romans 12: 2

@JustSaying, concerning Mary, it is a fact that you all WORSHIP MARY. Before I give you proof that Mary is worshipped, please read this passage: “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.” —Isaiah 42:8. Got it? Are you familar with what the Catholic church refers to as the teachings of Our Lady of Fatima? Roman Catholic officials claim that a supernatural event occurred in 1917 in which the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared repeatedly to 3 little children in Fatima, Portugal. Take a look at the 5th of the 15 promises made by Our Lady of Fatima concerning the Rosary: “The soul which recommends itself to Me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall not perish. How blasphemous! In essence, the catholic church is saying that a person can obtain eternal life through Mary by reciting the Rosary. In sharp contrast, Jesus Christ proclaimed in John 14:6… “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Jesus alone is our Saviour. Not He and Mary. Mary was just the woman used by God just as my mother was the woman used to bring me to earth. She did not create me because she is not a creator. I love her, appreciate her but I cannot go to God through her,

But I want you to take a look at what Mary told the servants in verse 5 “His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.” So please take the advice of Mary and do what He tells you to do. Here is what he tell us to do: Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. That’s what God tells us to do but for some unknown reason, your church does not teach that

The Catholic Church is a Church that rely on “sacrament worship” but that kind of worship does nothing for the soul of man–because it is all about works; which starts with the “baby christening” that replaces “baptism” as an adult–not a baby.

christening is follow by Holy Communion, Confirmation, then marriage, which is known as Matrimony–there is 2 others and the last one which is the one before a person dies.

It is all about works in the Roman Catholic Church, like they don’t know the teaching of Ephesians 2: 8-9 which says: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” God Lord, show them the way!

“The week is meant to let us reflect on the significance of our faith and if a Christian focuses and reflects deeply on what is going on during Holy Week, one could come to a serious depth of conversion and understanding of the faith,” Malzaire said on Tuesday.

My friends, be not deceived. If it is wrong to drink and get drunk during Holy Week, then it is wrong to do it during carnival season. If it is wrong to commit sexual sin during Holy Week then it has to be wrong to practice the same during carnival season. It is wrong to give a person flowers when they are dead after we treated them like dirt when they were alive. In other words, it makes no sense to try to show God we remember Him during Holy week while we deny him with our lifestyle the rest of the year. If that is the case, maybe we need to ask Bishop Gabriel Malzaire, to pray that we die during the Holy Week as well since come Easter Monday what Christ did for us will be forgotton and our regular life will be resumed. It’s time to wake up from sleep and start to preach the gospel of salvation instead of holydays and holyweeks as seen in Colossians 2:16.

As a result, it makes no sense for him and his religion to try to tell people to observe “Holy week as a time of reflection” but they could forget about the remaining 51 weeks and live like the devil. Those who believe in God, serve Him and live for him, are to live HOLY everyday. The bishop knows very well that some of his lay ministers are deeply involved in child abuse, homosexuality, sale of Rum to fellow members which cause them to stumble, and many more. Since holiness is not part of their practice and teaching on a daily basis, they ignore godliness on a daily basis and think salvation is about Holy week and Christmas day. Even if most of our pastors have drunken their belly full of Skerrit’s wine, there will still be a voice in the wilderness

It is his duty to inform everyone. God gave him this mandate.
What is yours? To criticize and find faults? This did not come from God but from the devil who appears to own your soul. Every time he comments on this Website, you enemies have much to state which is not complimentary. God will judge you.
Repent and conform your will to God. He rules; not you. See about your soul. He knows what you do with your time, where you go and what you do. Therefore, you are in no position to offer him or any Catholic Christian for that matter advice. Keep it to yourself and for you and your household. Our Lord will say to you: “Are you still without understanding?”
This week is called “Holy Week” because this is the week Our Lord suffered and died for us. It is a special week in observance of his Passion, Crucifixion and Death. You will do well to observe it as such.
Our Lord informed a visionary, “He wishes that we meditate on His Passion.” Reason, this is primarily what will buy your (our) way to Heaven if you fulfill it as you worship him, go to church, pray and perform acts of love in Jesus Name.
It is said this week makes Satan very angry. He is jealous. Reason being more people will go to church. More of them speak about this week, “Holy Week” even the Media throughout the world in especially democratic countries.

Lenten Season. Holy Week! The week that changed the world, and should change our world in these times of so-called modern ideologies, myths and immoralities.

Come let us fall before His Cross, who died that we might live.
O Jesus hear our contrite prayer and all our sins forgive,

“The week is meant to let us reflect on the significance of our faith and if a Christian focuses and reflects deeply on what is going on during Holy Week, one could come to a serious depth of conversion and understanding of the faith,” (Malzaire).

The words above came from the thoughts of Mr. Malzaire: There is nothing scriptural, spiritual, nor anything pertaining to the word of God in those words above. In the first place there is nothing written in the Bible about “Holy Week. So, my question is how do we define “Holy Week?” We would have to define it based on some religious false doctrine; since the term, or words holy week are not found in the Bible which is the true written words of God.

To associate what the Roman Catholics called holy week with the Passover is another act of satan to deceive those who have not taken the time to at least read, and try to understand the scriptures for themselves, hence when they read the philosophy of man they know to simply ignore the religious gimmicks, and the philosophy of those who are the tools of satan. There is no such word as Easter in the Bible, however, the teaching about the Passover are found in both the Old and new Testament.

Example; we found in Luke, 22:11 “And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the Passover with my disciples? When we get to Luke 22:19, we read “And he took bread, and gave thanks, and break it, and gave unto them saying; This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

Around this time of the year Christians, those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior should observe, and recognized the Passover. Jesus never told anybody to celebrate holy week, and use holy week to do anything as Malzaire suggest; that is his philosophy, which has nothing to do with the word of God.

There is no such command of written word of God to support that. There is no Easter nor Palm Sunday mentioned in the Bible, and those who indulge in such teachings are false teachers doing the work of satan. No if and or but. I stand firm on the word of God!

Anybody who wish to argue with me about that, do not waste your time, try arguing with God about the Passover, and see who wins.

Why are you so arrogant and silly, your last words at the end in your comment confirms that. You are also very ignorant on religious matters, including your understanding of the Bible. I’m sure you believe in the resurrection of Christ, well that is what Easter is about the celebration and remembrance of the resurrection of Christ, it is the foundation of the Christian religion, the story is in the Bible. The word Easter is just a word or name used to denote the celebration of Christ resurrection, now your argument that Easter is not mentioned in the Bible or written word of God is very foolish. Why don’t you first try and understand something before you invent silly arguments before you oppose.

      • Francisco Telemaque

        Arrogant?

Gary, sometimes we have to be careful with the English language, if we are going to throw words at people, we need to know when to uses certain words. When the English language is not utilize appropriately it can make us appear silly, or out right foolish! In the first place an arrogant person is one deposed to exaggerate one’s own worth, or importance in an overbearing manner!

The scriptures I quoted from the Bible which proves that the celebration, of this so called holy week, and length, are all baloney, those are Roman Catholic rituals, which has nothing to do with God, and the worshiping of God; charismatic as the people who impose these unscriptural rituals may seem, the true words of God supercedes the words of any bishop, pope, or reverent.

There is nothing I conveyed which remotely resembles my own worth. I quoted from the Book of Luke found in the King James version of the Bible; which ironically the same words; the scriptures are found in the very Roman Catholic Bible. The only difference in the two books is that the Roman Catholic Bible lags behind the Protestant Bible (King James version) in verses.

Nevertheless, everything found in the Protestant Bible is are also found in the Roman Catholic Bible, with the few books such as the Maccabees, which the Protestants decided to omit, and the reason they left these books out, is because they teach nothing about Jesus, but more so about the wars and other authorities and the Son’s of Nun ect,. I am not a preacher, and I am not here to give anybody lessons in theology.
Nevertheless, I advise you before you jump to your conclusion you had better study the of god, learn it, because religion such as the Roman Catholic is taking plenty of people to hell.

I made no attempt in exaggerating the word of God Jehovah; okay you are unable to accept the word of God when you hear or read it, because you Roman Catholic false doctrines which have dominated, and captivate your mind for so long!

Anything a preacher preaches must be the word of God, and that only: if what he said cannot be found in the word of God, it is not worth listening to. Gary, Dominica is a very poor place, the picture of the incomplete building which he need eight ($8,000,000.00) million dollars to complete it should not be a problem if Dominica was a prosperous place, fact is the Bible teaches prosperity, it teaches people how to make money to get rich, rather than him talking crap, he should start teaching the word of God, teach prosperity the way God said it should be done; instead of doing that they sit there talking crap, about vow of poverty; God does not want anybody to exist, or live in poverty!

God does not dispense wealth on the other side, he gives it to people while they are yet alive!

I am not arrogant as you believe, nevertheless, knowing what thus said the Lord, I can boldly state my case based on the word of God with all certainty, and with fear, and no priest, no pop, no bishop, or you can refute the word of God, and that is unless that you are a lessor god, and even at that the words of the true God, will swallow your words, and prevail over you!

You know, if it were the days when I was into Catholism, and not the word of God, I would have believed I am domed; however, since I stand firm on the words of the living; one and only true God; your words and thoughts that I am doomed has not touched a single vein in my body!

You know one time when I was a little boy in Wesley,I saw a priest slapped the face of a guy named Evered Peters. Eevered did not take his crap; Evered gave him a nasty beating. All the Roman Catholics, in the village began to pray, claiming that cures is going to fall on Evered, and the village, they say has water mouth, whatever that means in Wesley.

They claim no good will ever come to Evered, because he whipped the butt of a man, a so called priest who assaulted him first, Evered left Dominica after I left, and as far as I know the man who was supposed to never make any progress in life for putting a priest in his darn place, as far as I know died a multimillionaire in the British Virgin island, leaving the equivalent of a supermarket behind.

If a Roman Catholic priests commence preaching the word of God today, out of the Bible, that I would welcome; nevertheless, as long as they continue to teach the doctrine of Rome and some pope, I will call them out on it when it is unscriptural, and not in context with the word of God, I will rebuke them as the Bible says to do. Fear not for me: I am not doomed, for God is with me, I stand on his word!

The Bible is my guide, and not any priest bishop, pope or reverent, I can read the Bible for myself and know what it said!

    April 15, 2014

If Jesus died on a Friday and rose on Sunday how does this add up to being dead for 3 days? That is not 3 days, think about it

    • Francisco Telemaque
      April 16, 2014

The answer to your question is in the Bible, if you take some time to Study the word of God you will find it. The three days is correct, the reason why you cannot see the three days is because of the way you are calculating your time.

Look at it this way: in our world many people count twelve o’clock in the morning as twelve midnight, whereas in reality the day actually starts at twelve A. M., so there the confusion in counting the hours falls into play.

There is somewhere in the Bible I believe it is in Genesis; where God describe what constitutes the first day, and the first night. I do not remember the exact chapter, and verse, and because I do not want to say anything outside of thus said the Lord I advice you to speak to you preacher if you have one, that should be part of his duty to teach the word of God according to the way it is written in the Bible.

I do not have a degree in divinity, I am not a reverend, nor a bishop, but those who are playing bishops, priest, and so called reverends should have the scriptures at their finger tips to help educate people in a time like this. My final advise to you is this do as is request by God:

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” That scripture is written in 2 Timothy 2:15, found in the King James version of the Bible.

      The reason God direct us to study his words, is so that we can know the truth, so that when we here and read people talking crap which has nothing to do with the word of God, we do not burden our mind with vain words. Holy Week is non-scriptural ; it has nothing to do with God, it is however, false teaching by the representatives of the Roman Catholic Religion, and by the way religion has nothing to do with thus said the Lord, that is a different thing. I will conclude, leaving this scripture with you, also can be found in 2 Timothy 2:16;

“But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. When one know that they know what thus said the Lord they can say to the preachers who preach contrary to the word of God they are into vain babblings and not preaching the word of God, as we have in this case!

Some people will hate me and my views, but I care not what they think of me for that does not matter; they are not God, God is in control of my life, not man!

      April 15, 2014

Since you made these comments, they are only one body in Christ but still very much divided. It appears for some, they will continue to be divided until death and Judgment Day and sadly so.
You know, there will be no division, no disunity and lack of love in Heaven. This earthly division and disunity including lack of love are not pleasing to Our Lord Jesus Christ; never was and never will be. Those who caused this, may never obtain eternal salvation. They must know it; must be told. Many have been deceived to think that they are pleasing God with this division and disunity.
I am not a bishop or priest. I am a member of the laity and I can state it. I fear no one and stand up for the truth of the matter of Our Lord Jesus Christ without watering it down and being shy and ashamed of doing so, telling it like it is with the help of God.
Those who say they are following Jesus must consider it and always keep it in mind. If they continue to be divided, the sickness they will experience (if they do not die suddenly) prior to death will not assist them to become united with others for they will be divided to death. Consider that. It is a serious matter where eternity is also concerned.
If you perform a research, you will know who first caused this division and others followed to this day. Others continue to do so.
I do believe that Bishop Malzaire was being diplomatic. After all, he wrote on a general, public Media which is why I believe he made reference to Christians. He did not want to offend anyone, the enemies of the Catholic Church who, as always get on his/ our backs (the Catholic Church) which is so prevalent today in these times of the Great Apostasy and the reign of Satan.
Let me further inform you. My Catholic Radio is on. This accounts for my writings and sometimes lengthy ones. My inspiration and words come from The Blessed Trinity, God the Father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit. Thanks be to God.

@Simply the Truth, I have no problems whatsoever with Catholics. I believe many of them are very sincere and I am not in a position to judge anyone other than myself. However, it is very clear to me that Catholics are virgin Marians as their teachings and devotions are more geared towards the worship of Virgin Mary than Jesus. Furthermore, your church does not preach the “New birth” and separation from worldliness. As a result, whenever a dance announced, carnival, drunkenness, witchcraft, and all manner of sinful engagements, know the catholics will top list by 99.9% and the following day they will be served communion. Catholics are not “Born again” Christians and is just because pastor gave themselves over to Skerrit, your local bishop refers to all as Christians. Virgin Mary cannot be worshipped as she was simply the vessel preserved and then used by God to usher our Lord. Am I saying all Catholics are lost? Absolutely not! However, your church needs to revisit their teachings and practices.

Read the Catechism of the Church and by the time you are done, you will most probably want to rejoin the Roman Catholic Church. Most Catholics don’t even know the teachings and this is why there is such a dedicated focus now on teaching them the faith so that they know what they believe it.

And Catholics do not worship the Virgin Mary. If they did, they would not say “Mary, Pray for us”

@citizen, here is why I included politics in my posts; 1. The ONLY reason why the bishop could make this statement without being challenged by the evangelicals is simply because Skerrit got our pastors to unite with the catholic church since most of our pastors and priests serve skerrit as their new lord. 2. Concerning Catholics being Christians is far from the truth of God’s word. In the book of Acts where the word “Christians” was first used, it was because the people realized that they were ‘Christ like’ in their lifestyle and devotion. It was not because they believed in Christ. Catholics do believe in Christ but in their lifestyle and practices they deny Him. Catholics are Virgin Marians since they offer prayer to her and literally worship her. You know that and ALL Catholics know that.

      • Simply the Truth
        April 17, 2014

This also includes, “too hard and too long” who does not know me and what I do. I do not know what this person means by making such a statement. I know my faith and I do not have to be catechized. Furthermore, I was already grounded in it from Dominica. God grants enlightenment. If we perform acts of love and also evangelize in that godly spirit, God will surely expand our knowledge. It will be amazing what we know.
For “too hard and too long”, some people go to church, probably only on a Sunday and this is all they do. They may not listen to Catholic TV and Radio. They may not read matters of their Catholic faith and so they deprive themselves of learning about their faith.
There is more to Catholicism than meets the eye. Just listen to Catholic Radio and TV and everyone will realize that. I call those Networks a faith-booster and builder. They have done much for me to enhance my knowledge of the faith and there is more as relayed on the programs.
I encourage every Catholic to do his/her utmost to make it a point of duty to listen to those Networks where they reside. I am happy I did. In fact, I will state, God has been good to me to place them in my home.
No one can deceive me about my faith, cause me to doubt it and to turn away from it. “The Catholic Church has the answers.” It alone has the deposit of faith, the mandate given to It by God.
Incidentally, a communist who converted to the Catholic faith wrote a book which is entitled “The Catholic Church has the answers.” I read it and clipped out an article from it. It is rather interesting and exciting to read. I have given copies to some people.
Sorry I am not in D/ca. However, my relatives and friends in D/ca have received some Catholic information from me. I do ask whoever receives them in any part of the world to make copies and give to others as each one reaches one. I am not a cradle Catholic.

Yes we are! This is The Church Our Lord established when He said to Peter, “…Upon this Rock I will build My Church…”
Note He said, “My Church”. He did not say, ours, in that, “you will build your church” as many down through the ages have built their churches with more to come before the end of time.
Those churches are not established and approved by Our Lord Jesus Christ. We know how much disunity and lack of peace this has caused to the point of enmity.
The Catholic Church is getting the brunt of their whims and wiles even on this Website as we observed and from some of those who were former members.
The Catholic Church has many enemies, worst today since some have allowed some people to indoctrinate them into other churches. The Catholic Church will stand until the end of time for It is The One and Only Holy Catholic and Apostolic Faith that Our Lord Jesus Christ established when He also said: “I will be with you always even unto the consummation of the world.” This is The Church He addressed – no other. Catholic means Universal.
Consider He prayed in the Garden that they might be one. We are not yet one with all the divisions commencing from Luther, Henry VIII and others. These people have caused chaos in the Church by being disobedient and stubborn and by forming their own church. Many others followed suit.
Catholic members be proud of your Church, established by Our Lord Jesus Christ. We are still The Roman Catholic Church. It has not changed. I have no wish to argue with anyone about that. It is a waste of our God-given precious time to argue about it with simple, unbelieving and unaccepting minds who love to argue for the sake of arguing. They might as well pray for others, for themselves and for Christian unity. This is what Our Lord wants out of us, not blowing hot air which do no good.

Prior to the Skerrit Era, most likely the subject of this article would be: ‘Gabriel Malzaire urged Catholics to reflect during Holy Week’.
But thanks to Skerrit who was referred to as jesus both by Catholic layman- Minister of agriculture and “Born again” preacher -Minister for education. Not only that but lord Skerrit was able to get pastors and priests to join hands in prayer and both pastors and priests claimed Skerrit to be a born again believer. But then again why should the bishop not see all as Christians when a well known and self professed believer was used by their new lord, to go to the court, with bible holding and swore to speak the truth and nothing but the truth, in the presence of his then pastor who never missed a day because of their financial interests, and yet the brother lied about the villas in the presence of all? So yes Mr. Bishop I fully understand why you addressed the Christian community instead of the catholic community because our pastors sold spiritual conviction for a plate of food and to be able to get money and be called spiritual adviser. But they must have kaka that food and money not coming as before so maybe they might have to denounce their new lord and king.

Christ died to purchase salvation for us.

Yet, many take it for granted without making it personal. I hope many over this blessed holy season will (if they have not already done so) have that moment of decision when they commit their lives to Christ.

Each time I look at a picture of Christ upon the cross I like to reflect for a moment as I ask myself…

There are many hypocrites among believers. It is difficult to please Our Lord Jesus Christ if there is no unity, etc. Who caused this? An examination of conscience is required. I need not elaborate on this further.
