We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Fr. Jacky Merilan, CSsR, on the morning of Monday, July 19, 2021.
We sympathise with the St. Clement’s community at Belfast where he resided and the entire Redemptorist Congregation for the great loss of one of their youngest confreres.
We sympathise with the parish community of St. Joseph, where he served as Parish Priest for the two years, and the parish community of St. Ann where he previously served assistant Parish Priest. Just incidentally, his final Mass was celebrated in the parish of St. Ann the day prior his passing.
We also sympathise with his family in Haiti and the Haitian community here in Dominica.
Fr. Jacky was loved by many and will be greatly missed. May his soul Rest in Peace.
I don’t know the Man, but my spirit turns to know what was the cause of the demise of what seems to be a young young man.
May he SIP and his family and friends, parishioners, all be comforted in the many memories that would have been created and remain through their lifetime.
What a man, I had the pleasure of knowing father Jackie, he came to the UK and spent quality time with my family. What a beautiful soul, this is a sad loss for Dominica. He is in my prayers RIP father Jackie, will miss that smiling face 🙏🏽 Belfast won’t be the same without you…. Jacqueline Fontaine UK
Rest in Eternal Peace Fr Jacky. So sad at your passing. But we are assured of a better place for those who die in the Lord. You were the Lord’s gift to us for a short time. Thank you for your spirit of love, kindness and faith. Condolences to your fellow Redemptorists, fellow priests, family, parishioners and friends.
Sad loss for the Catholic Community.
Deepest condolences to the Clergy family. His immediate family and all Parishioners.
May he rest in peace
