Two masked men, armed with a fishing gun and a cutlass, made good their escape last evening following a robbery at Do It Center on Goodwill Road.
Dominica News Online (DNO) has been reliably informed that about 6:25 p.m, on September 29, 2022, two men wearing hoodies and surgical masks entered the facility and demanded that an employee–the Loss Prevention Officer for Fine Foods Inc.– hand over moneys which he was collecting from the facility at the time.
The assailants then made good their escape with an undisclosed quantity of cash and cheques.
When contacted, a member of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) told DNO that the police has since launched an investigation into the matter and is appealing to anyone with information to contact the police in order to solve this crime.
DNO will continue to follow this story and report any new development.
How dare they rob at Do It Center. Are the staffs and customers fine.
This brazen crime was not committed under the cover of darkness. The place was still relatively well lit with the glare of sunset.
Is the time when this crime was committed a foreboding of a glance into the future, what’s to come? This is a sure sign of desperation.
If these two individuals had good paying, steady jobs, would they take such a gamble with their lives? Joblessness increases the crime rate in any country. Nothing stops crimes (burglaries, robberies, etc.) like good paying jobs. Empirical data proves this.
The sums of money that were distributed during the last election campaign have long finished. Now, these said recipients, have set their sight on businesses and homeowners.
The receipt of ‘free’ money from dirty, corrupt politicians vanishes in a short time. Long term, gainful employment ( Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!) is the most viable solution.
America has lots of jobs, and good paying ones too. See the number of crimes that take’s place every hour. so huss your behind Ibo MALAPROP France.
Keep wearing them masks……;)
Who ever it is that robbed the said Chief Loss Prevention Officer (as alleged..not here) better count their blessings that they lived to enjoy the money. I am 100000% certain if the alleged victim had time to reach his firearm it would have been Hallelujah for them. Sadly he did not get the chance to day-fon-say them. However, I am confident with the help of the said victim these robbers will be found.
These days man even more desperate because the country hard. No work, house bills to pay, children and bad habits to feed so we are sewing the fruits of our political labor! Let me repeat again; the only people with any money in Dca today are the rear end kissers of the country’s leadership and our women with side their man in the Diaspora. Even spanish have to give pokito on credit but that too remains illegal.
Having said that I smell “inside help” on this one big-time! Just happy no lives were lost during the robbery.
Never in the modern history of Dominica has there been this astronomically high level of crimes. The question is why at this time?
Many adherents of the government flippantly dismiss this reason that many criminologists have posited on crime. High unemployment (widespread poverty) and high crime are twin brothers.
The true statistics of unemployment among the youthful adult population may be as high as 40+%. Poverty (joblessness) is the Mother of Crime.
With no jobs, no income, disillusionment, desperation, the youth men turn to crime and the young ladies to the oldest occupation in the world.
Sad to say, with the present aggravating conditions, Dominica has become a haven for crime.
