Dominican tourism establishment, Rodney’s Wellness Retreat (RWR), has received excellent ratings from the international travel web site, Trip Advisor.
The three year old establishment, based in the southern village of Soufriere, on a former lime estate, boasts of the soothing and historic CaRod’s gardens, Big Banana camp ground and Benna’s Farm and is portrayed as a secure nature’s sanctuary.
The Trip advisor’s website’s function is to assist customers in gathering travel information, posting reviews and opinions of travel related content and engaging in interactive travel forums.
Speaking to DNO, Marketing and Operations Manager Devin Lewis, said RWR has been receiving good comments from guests on their service delivery and setting.
According to one of the visitors who commented on Trip Advisor, “Rodney’s is absolutely worth a visit. Enjoy the gardens and then relax in the cool restaurant. The food is pure and delicious, sourced locally and from the extensive garden. You can pick the fruit off the trees and enjoy it for free.”
Says another ” I visited in December 2012. the service is very intimate and personal. The grounds are very well kept and clean. If your into a natural experience, this is the place to be in Dominica. You are surrounded by fresh fruit and vegetable, oranges, mangoes, guava, avacado, breadfriut, pawpaya and many many more.”
Lewis said some guests felt RWR just exceeded expectations with regard to service. “Those comments have been coming in on a regular basis and trip advisor saw it fit to commend us and as a result they wrote us a really nice letter telling us that we must keep on doing what we are doing because the guests like it we were also given a trip advisor sticker that we could put on display, for guests to see,” he stated.
Lewis said that both the stickers and letter are currently on display at the center.
“Oh yes! You have to be excited when you get that from trip advisor because it is one of the premiere sites for people travelling”, Lewis said. “It means that we have to keep rising the bar …keep giving the service that is above notch and we always have to exceed these expectations of our guests.”
He joked that he has the sticker posted on his vehicle ‘I actually point it out to the guests …I make a big deal about it’.
However he pointed out that the family-owned establishment faces a few challenging areas such as finding people who are passionate about their work. “People who enjoy doing their work I think is one of the biggest challenges,” Lewis conceded.
He admitted that although there are locals who patronize the establishment, he wishes that they would be more supportive “but again, the local economy doesn’t help that,” he concluded.
