Saint Lucia pledges US$100,000 to the Bahamas relief and recovery effort

The Government of Saint Lucia has pledged US$100,000 to provide immediate relief to the Bahamas following the destruction caused by Hurricane Dorian. The hurricane battered the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama, in the north of the archipelago for two days and it is estimated at least 20 deaths are linked to the hurricane.

The donation by Saint Lucia is done in unity with Members of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) who are expected to make a similar pledge and have come out to express their support to the Bahamas during this difficult time.

Prime Minister Honourable Allen M. Chastanet, who also serves as CARICOM Chairman, is currently in the Bahamas as part of a delegation from CARICOM, Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and the Regional Security System (RSS). The Prime Minister and the CARICOM team, which also includes Barbados Prime Minister Hon. Mia Mottley have met with Bahamian Prime Minister Hon. Hubert Minnis and other officials for a detailed briefing on the state of the country.

Meanwhile in Saint Lucia, the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) continues to work with CDEMA on the immediate needs. NEMO has informed that the immediate needs of the islands are water and water pumps.  However, CDEMA has advised that monetary contributions would be easier logistically; as procurement of needed items can be purchased at locations closer to the Bahamas. NEMO has circulated via the local media the account numbers in various local banks.

The Government of Saint Lucia wishes to thank persons who has expressed interests in this humanitarian thrust.

What’s the fuss about, Dominica promised the same amount long ago. $100,000 is laughable in $3billion of damage. This is disaster porn a contest among pygmies measuring who has longest bamboo.

Do you think we are one of the G20? What have you promised Mr. Anonymous? Nothing but talk all the way to Freeport. Did you not say Dominica is the poorest in the Hemisphere? What more can you expect from the poorest but US$100,000.00? Be thankful, your bum.

That’s Great man. I love it! Thanks much to government and people of Saint Lucia.
Now DNO this one is for you: DNO can you please take a pledge only from your bloggers who comment on this site? I am quite sure bloggers like @kid On Block, Ds, Joseph John, Lin Clown, Elizabeth Xavier, Danziger, the man that biting dogs and others would be able to to donate a million each from their cool out or passport money because is only those that benifitting directly from our passports would be defending evil of Skerrit like that. As for me I wouldn’t be able to give much because Skerrit destroyed everything I depended on to eat bread. He killed my bananas, killed Bellfast where I use to sell coconuts, killed Ross University where I use to earn a living and killed Breezees Mart where I use to sell my fruits and vegetables. I’m sure those international passport sellers like Zampolli and others would love to contribute because is they that enjoying the good of Dominica.

Wow! “Saint Lucia PM Chastanet (centre) with Mottley to his left, in the Bahamas”
So where is Roosevelt Skerrit? Nowhere to be seen or found again? Don’t tell me he is in Dubai or some other country in some corrupt deal again, like he was while Erika was destroying Dominica and killing people in 2015, while the man was there in bed with NG Lap Seng, John Ash and others? But I hope we remember that three weeks after Erika his top Macau friends he was toasting with all were arrested for money laundering and others. Now is Bahamas and Skerrit is out so I hope later we don’t hear of any arrests

On behalf of the passport dealers, I pledge in good faith US one million, dollars, from the amount Paola Zampolli will be getting for the sale of our passports. After proper accounting if Mr Zampolli will be getting more than the initial 5% he is asking the NY court for then my pledge will also increase

At least St. Lucia matched our contribution with US$100,000.00 pledged to the Bahamas. But stupid Lennox Linton commanding the PM to pledge $2million dollars to the Bahamas. Linton is an …….., the next Prime Minister in waiting. Stupid fool. What do you all see in a high school drop out? The man thinks Dominica is one of the G20. Yet he says Dominica is the poorest country in the world. Stupid Lennox.

@Ds,….you forgot “extremely”. Those uwp “un-patriots” are radical extremists and contributors of chaos. They cannot be anything else with their 5th grade un-education.

@ Ds,…. When I read Ruler in Hiroona I did not accept the writer’s point of view that a person could have a degree even a post graduate one and still be uneducated, still be stupid. Does that mean that Dominica has educated stupid people who cannot see that Linton is manipulating and misleading them with his less than 5t grade “un-education”?
I mean two lawyers followed him to Guyana to force their way into a Heads of Government Conference ? People like Dr Clayton Shillingford and Athie Martin BSc (Agriculture) Dr Pascal, to name a few, think Linton is a gift to knowledge, wisdom and commonsense.
What’s going on? When Francis and Charles educated lawyers follow Linton like victims of the Pipe Piper or Jim Jones, what’s up with that ?
Did those people really followed Linton from Layou to Roseau in the hot sun….walking and matching. But they call DLP supporters all kinds of names to stigmatize them as lacking in common sense. wow. I wonder who walks with eyes…
