Former Dominica Labour Party (DLP) government press secretary and businessman Sean Douglas, and Salisbury native Lori Victor, have been selected by the recently elected member of Parliament for the Salisbury Constituency and Leader of the Opposition, Jesma Paul Victor, to serve as her two opposition senators in the House of Assembly.
Mrs. Victor, an independent candidate who defeated the DLP candidate in the general election of December 6, 2022, who opted to keep mum about her choice of senators for the last few weeks, made her selections official this morning at a Parliament Orientation Workshop at the House of Assembly for all MPs.
Also present and occupying the seats of the two additional opposition senators were Civil Engineer Delbert Paris and Marketing Manager of the Central Cooperative Credit Union (CCCU) Lorraine Henderson-Reid.
The two were selected by Anthony Charles, another independent candidate from the Marigot constituency who was successful in the snap election.
Confirming his pick to DNO back in December, Charles stated, “I am very confident in their abilities to provide constructive feedback in the house.”
“I know that together, we will be able to get things done,” the opposition leader-in-waiting said.
DNO’s attempts to get an interview with the entire opposition this morning, did not materialize. However, we will persist in our efforts to obtain that interview.
Mrs Victor is new to politics yet took the chance to represent her community. Shawn is an older position who will be able to guide and hep her.
It will benefit her. Go MRs Victor. Wishing you the best in your effort to make your village proud. If you do not try you will never know what you will capable of.

And, does Sean now have a change of heart regarding his perception of the last elections and the leadership of the DLP? Day in, day out, the dude was on Q95 repeating the same BS. So, how does he now …erm…flip and flop to the degree that he now legitimizes the results of the elections and recognizes the political supremacy of Roosevelt Skerrit in the Parliament, as head of the majority block? How does one make sense of this? Did someone slap him across the head and right his marbles? What happened?

Well of the FOUR senators, i know just ONE, in the person of Sean Douglas. He is a very bright, well lettered and a very good orator.He indeed has the gift of the gab!
He also has a keen sense of history, especially in the sphere of politics in general, and Dominican politics in particular..He quotes past political events in Dominica, with dates of occurances.
He is indeed an excellent choice, and may somehow uplift the level of discourse in our broken parliament, because over the past 23 years, many Dominicans do not even listen to what passes as a parliament..Its more akin to a fish market!
Like Lennox Linton before him, Sean alone is more educated than ALL the Skerrit labour ministers and MISLEADERS together.
