Are you between 18 and 29 and wish to make a difference in your community in Dominica?

Queen Elizabeth II, through her grandsons Prince William and Prince Harry, has launched an initiative which is looking to discover young people to receive royal awards and grants.

The “Queen’s Young Leaders” was launched recently and will run from 2014 to 2016 and each year during that time, one young leader from each Commonwealth country, including Dominica, will be selected for the award.

Criteria to win the award:
– Nominees should have proven experience of working to improve their communities locally, regionally or at a national level and will show evidence of their achievements
– Nominees must be aged between 18 and 29 for the year of the Award and be citizens of a Commonwealth country
– Nominees have to demonstrate evidence of their leadership qualities
– Priority will be given to individuals who have overcome challenges to achieve their goals
– All nominees will need to be supported by a suitable referee

“The Queen’s Young Leaders Programme is intended to find young leaders who have determination, and to equip them with the tools to succeed,” Prince William said at the launch. “The Commonwealth is uniquely placed to do this work, as it reaches 53 countries and embraces a range of leadership styles.”

Prince Harry added: “The young leaders of today have the greatest opportunity of any in our history to reach out across the Commonwealth and affect change on a global scale. For many people the community in which they live is their world – we must start there in supporting those who will change our community, our Commonwealth and our world.”

Representing Dominica at the launch event was Stephie Pascal, who is currently studying Chemical Engineering at University College London.

Young people from Dominica can apply or be nominated to win the award and become a Queen’s Young Leader.

The final date for submitting applications is October 10.

The Queen has come a long way. She has immensely changed. This could also be attributed to her grandchildren. Being a younger generation, they obviously think differently and are broadminded on certain matters.
As in the New Testament: “Tell the rich in this present age to do good so as to amass spiritual riches.”
Royalty are doing what they are supposed to do as Christians; humanity for that matter. They may have commenced late but better late than never and to encourage the younger ones to take an interest in their community by making it a better and safer place to live. Too many have lived otherwise. This is not only in Dominica but elsewhere in the world.
It is time to spur them on “to good works”, to enhance their life and their country. When people are doing something productive, they are happier people. Their good example could influence others “to love and good works.” It is contagious.
I still like the Queen. No one can take that feeling away from me. She and her family are to be appreciated and thanked.
God bless the Queen and her family, also for their good works.
    God bless Dominica and nationals.

. . . And to show their presence and eventual protection, the latter if need be. They are not foolish.
Great Britain authorities, the Queen and her family know fully well what is occurring in especially the West Indies with China’s presence and financial assistance.
While China’s help is appreciated, something which those progressive countries did not assist in this magnitude, they are all concerned about this help to the point of being suspicious.
Consider that China sends its people to work and live in those countries. What do you expect? One day those countries could very well become China’s territories. This is a serious matter and cause for concern. Keep this in mind and in your archives.

      “privilege”

Tony, I am disappointed in you that you would make such a comment which I will not elaborate on.
They are reaching out to the youths of the world and this is a good sign. I see nothing wrong with that. The funding comes from their pockets.
God knows that the world is in need of youths who will not only make something worthwhile of themselves but who will assist and enhance their environment and its future, working for the common good of all.

Who cares about Queen Elizabeth? These so-called soverign people exploited many lands to amass the wealth that they have today. If we are an independent country why do we still depend on them for anything?

    • The Facts
      September 18, 2014

Who cares for your opinion? If you think they exploited those countries, who allowed them? In the first place, who sold their own to the so-called white man which caused slavery? Your very own!
D/ca is not independent in the true sense of the word. Every help D/ca gets is a blessing from God. Think before you comment.

For your information, the Europeans were well armed during the slave trade. The Africans were forced to sell their own into slavery. If they didn’t, they would be killed by these European barbarians. It’s time that we stop glorifying these Europeans as though they are gods. They have made us to hate ourselves and love them. A lot of people get angry when the truth about these Europeans is told. If we knew about their history we would not be adoring them. They have caused us to hate Africa and love the European countries.

You learned that blame the victim thing well from them. So the white man you mentioned were just taking a casual boat ride down scenic coast and here came Africans waiving them down to offer them slaves and they obliged? So the woman who was raped asked for it because of what she was wearing? The little children who got exploited by adults were wrong to make themselves available? They themselves wrote and told the tales of their history, what else do you expect them to write and teach?, that they perpetrated the whole thing?? ID10T !

Who cares about the Queen and her regime who are in the elite group, the illuminati. They care nothing for the peasants, who includes all of the commoners. . This is all PR. Get a clue. Quit being so naive. Go read history. If you want to be a slave, here you go. Tokens. It is an empire.
They used Diana for her genes and then killed her because she had a mind of her own and she knew who they were.. These people are evil posing as do gooders.
