UPDATE: Shooting in Morne Prosper

One man is dead as a result of a shooting incident which occurred in the village of Morne Prosper on Friday.

A resident of that community confirmed to Dominica News Online (DNO) that a man from that village was shot after he attacked another male resident with a knife.

The incident occurred between 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm.

An unconfirmed report received by DNO also indicated that the alleged shooter made a report to Roseau police in which he claimed that he had shot his attacker after the man came running towards him with a knife.

The police are investigating the matter.

    What is police chief Carbon doing to stem the tide of death in this little country? There are many road deaths, many unsolved murders, and murders continue to rise in the country. It’s time to look outside the box for solutions to the problems. The minister of National security planned to effect change to the leadership of the police force but was overruled by the prime minister. Clearly, there is a lack of clarity at the head and this doesn’t augur well for rectifying the state of affairs. How about the lawyers who benefit from legal representation to those aggrieved, don’t they have suggestions to the wild west situation in the country? It’s time for action to stop this sad state of affairs in the country. President Saverin make your voice heard on this sad state of madness gripping the country. All hands on deck is what is needed.

      The minister of National security was about to get a police chief from overseas because he saw that Carbon is not an effective person to serve as police. What does the little dictator, the prime minister do? He steps in, takes over and overrules the minister who is responsible for policing and safety of citizens in Dominica. Skerritt said he had full confidence in Carbon irrespective to the fact that the police force is in disarray. That’s what the prime minister has to do with the spate of killings in the country, the many unsolved murders too.

    My brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers. We were once an isolated community where we were friends to everyone, harmonious in every way, with minor affliction’s. Well, today we are now an integral part of the globe, we are influenced by what is portrayed by others. There is only one way out of this lifestyle is to go back to GOD, I know it a tall order but with GOD’S help, it’s doable.JOHN 12:31. EPHESIANS 2:2 .2 CORINTHIANS 4:4.

  5. Stubborn Facts
    March 30, 2019

    Though I am tired of saying accept my sympathy to those left to mourn, I will say it again because that’s what the sad state of life in Dominica has become.
    I think it is fair to say that under the Prime ministership of Patrick John, all the way to Pierre Charles, Dominica could be described as a country of togetherness, love, happiness and long life. But under PM Skerrit the facts will suggest that we have become a country of lawlessness, a criminal state, where bloodshed has become the way of life.
    Where have we gone wrong? Who has sinned? Regardless of how we choose to answer the stubborn facts will show that the Dominica of 1978-2004, is far different from the Dominica of 2005 to today and I must ask myself, when and where did we go wrong as a nation? The fact of the matter is in the last 15 years we have seen ten times more blood shed, especially that of our young men, than we saw from 1978 to 2004, when Pierro died. I am not blaming anyone but just facts that I can’t run from

    Here is a song the late Bob Marley wrote a few years ago that is clearly life in Dominica today.
    ONE DROP
    Oo-oo-ooh, yea-ah. Wo-yoy! Wo-yoy! Wo-yoy! Wo-yoy-yoy-yoy!
    Feel it in the one drop;
    And we’ll still find time to rap;
    We’re makin’ the one stop,
    The generation gap;
    Now feel this drumbeat
    As it beats within,
    Playin’ a riddim,
    Resisting against the system, ooh-wee!
    I know Jah’s never let us down;
    Pull your rights from wrong
    (I know Jah would never let us down)
    Oh, no! Oh, no! Oh, no!
    They (Skerrit) made their world(Dominica) so hard :
    Every day we got to keep on fighting (fighting);
    They (Skerrit) made their world (DA) so hard (so hard):
    Every day the people are dyin’ (dying), yeah!
    (It dread, dread) For hunger and starvation
    (dread, dread, dread, dread),
    Lamentation (dread dread),
    But read it in Revelation (dread, dread, dread, dread):
    You’ll find your redemption
    And then you give us the teachings of His Majesty,
    For we no want…

    Acts of violence keep on escalating especially in recent times. A human life is no longer considered as sacred. Too many young Dominicans are intolerant and blood thirsty. This frightening phenomenon can only lead to a future of decadence and nothingness. With all hands on deck, we have to try our hardest to change the downward trajectory of the country.

    It’s shooting upon shooting and crime upon crime. Now we are like children growing up knowing our father as a criminal. We are like monkey see monkey do. Like the scripture in Jb.8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. ” I really feel sorry for children that are 19 years and younger because they’re growing up seeing crime as if crime is something good.

    Same story, just different day and location. These days another shooting in Dominica has become a familiar story that no longer shocks anyone. It’s like saying another foreign criminal with Dominica CBI was arrested or is wanted somewhere by Interpol. This is Dominica after 15 years of Skerrit Disgraceful Party.
