Skerrit defends donation to Cathedral

Cathedral Renovation works expected to cost more than the estimated $8 million
Cathedral renovation works expected to cost more than the estimated $8 million

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has defended a donation which he made to the Catholic Cathedral stating that he makes no apologies for giving money to the Bishop.

On June 4th, the Prime Minister presented a cheque of $500,000 to the church geared toward its restoration project, an action which has come under heavy criticism by members of the public but Prime Minister Skerrit has said that he will not stray away from his decision.

“I make no apologies for giving the money to the Bishop. I carry out instructions from above and it is not me who gave the church but the Lord who gave the church the money. So those of us who want to criticize a good deed, are not criticizing me but is criticizing the Lord so be very careful what we criticize,” the Prime Minister said at the feast of St Anthony in Toucarie over the weekend.

During his speech on June 4th the Prime Minister pointed out that the donation was being made because of the church’s contribution to the island. However, Evangelical pastor, Gerald Benjamin, has a different perspective on the matter noting that the church should not be looking for rewards or recognition when carrying out the work of the Lord.

In an interview with Kairi news, Benjamin said “the Roman Catholic church’s contribution to this country is certainly very commendable and cannot go unnoticed but I’m afraid that the notion that the church deserving any help on that basis from the state is not only very misguided but in itself represents a very erroneous theological concept of what the church is and what is the mandate any could subscribe to. I’m also asking are we on the verge of a new ideology of preferential treatment for this denomination.”

He added that the Church which is Yahweh’s called out Assembly of His redeemed people serves as the representative of His heavenly Kingdom and Government and “as such any authentic work of Ministry it engages in whether it is the proclamation of the Gospel or social services must be done exclusively to the praise and glory of His name and not to the name of the church.”

“In the event that a gift may be deemed acceptable by the church from anyone directly related to it, it must be made resolutely clear that the church’s independence will not be compromised so that the church will not find itself having the old adage applied to it that you cannot bite the hand that feeds you and it must in the first place, be seen that no old scriptural, ethical, or legal violation of any sort has been done.”

Bishop Malzaire said at the presentation, that although the Cathedral renovation project is expected to cost about $8-million, he expects that cost to increase.

He said close to $5-million has already been raised.

I paid an insane amount of taxes this year. The road in Capuchin hasn’t been fixed in twenty-five years, and the plugged up culverts breed mosquitoes that caused just about everyone here to get the chikungunya… a disease much worse than the news will let on. When I lived down in Scott;s Head I saw many more tourists than I have ever seen in or around the Cathedral. I also saw truckloads of trash on the shore and in the water. At the hospital in Portsmouth I waited nearly two hours for the pharmacist, and all she had in the hospital pharmacy were vitamins. I personally don’t care a hoot who is in the government, or who goes or doesn’t go to which church. What I object to is ANY GOVERNMENT supporting any religion at all and ignoring the simple basic infrastructure. I really would like to know why my tax money was used to support a religion I don’t believe in instead of supporting projects for the common good.

Mr Skerrit shame on you for giving a church so much money while they own half of Roseau. The Vatican have money, and they are one of the richest organization in the world. You should have invested that money on home for the aged, or Grotto home. You removed homeless people from Government land in Canefield , and you justifying this why didn’t you used this money to feed the poor? This is why the people need to vote you out, and I do hope they vote you out.

Whatever happened to separation of church and state? Secularism–which is that separation of church and state–is better for both the religious and the non-religious because it prevents any one particular religion or viewpoint from being favoured over another by the government.

This religious rhetoric from Skerrit is dangerous; a person in power can easily falsely claim “God” is leading them to do this or that and justify the most unjustifiable crimes under this abstract and unprovable banner of influence.

“The next time you criticize the Catholic Church or feel like doing so, “Take it to the Lord in prayer.” You have a mouth and you shoot it against the Catholic Church but God will deal with you in time.
Gerald Benjamin, you are not a smart man.”

Read me, and read me good! Although You mentioned Gerald, and not my name I am suspect since it followed my comments, and since your thoughts are in a public domain, I have a right to respond to you also.

The nonsense you wrote following my comments, in the above quote, if that is in reference to what I wrote, let it be know to you, that I am one man who read and study the word of God for myself; he instructed me in 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. The reason God told his people, to study the word for themselves, is because he knew that there would be ignorant people like you who would be lied to, brainwashed by organizations such as this so called (roman catholic church).

I have the word of God to support whatever I say regarding this issue, what you or the prime Minister, and the so called bishop said, or want to say does not matter to me; the Word of God supercedes, and takes precedence, over the words, and rhetoric of any man on earth! In 2 Timothy 2:16, God also told us “But shun profane and vain babblings for they will increase unto more ungodliness. Your comments are nothing more than “vain babblings.” They reason my mouth is big, and I speak with authority, on the subject is because God’s word support my argument.

God never said in his words, that a prime minister of a country should take from the poor and give to the rich; as far as I am concerned that is an act of “ungodliness. Now show me one bit of scripture from the Bible which supports your stupid argument! God is not going to punish me for anything I said about the roman Catholic church, because it is a false religion; they teach the doctrine of men, and not the word of God, and that is one of the reasons Dominica is so poor: The teaching of the roman catholic church is bogus, it is geared to worship man, homosexuals and not God.

Let me leave you with this; perhaps you will recognized one of the problem with those you follow. In Matthew 23:9,10; we read “And call no man your father upon the earth; fore one is your Father, which is in heaven, But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. Again in Matthew 23:4, we read “For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. you can relate all of that to the Roman Catholic so Called Church.
They are responsible for Dominica’s severe poverty. So let’s see who God will punish, me, you or, the false religion who lives of the blood of the poor of our country.
If you are going to attack me or Mr. Benjamin, you need to demolish us with something which thus said the Lord in his words, and the crap you disgorged, and if it based of Roman Catholic doctrine, just do not bother to present it fill your trash bin with it!

@Teacher June 18, 2014 “I have already contacted my Local Bishop here in NY for advice as to how to file a complaint with the VATICAN to begin an inquiry and to investigate the relationship between the Bishop of Dominica and the Government of Dominica. The process has already begun, and I will advise the Bishop of Dominica to prepare himself for what is to come”.

First of all, you sound like kingdom divided against itself! You are Roman Catholic and you are against the Bishop accepting money to receive the Church House in your country? Well that is quite strange, you see!

Did you really mean that line here which says: “I will advise the Bishop of Dominica to prepare himself for what is to come”.? By whose authority will you be able to do that–may I ask?

Also, are you forgetting the paperwork that will be involved with your full name and address, since you are the one filling the grievance–you have called yourself “Teacher” here

And do you think that the Vatican wants that headline in Rome–“The Pope is investigating the Bishop of Roseau for accepting $500 000.00 from the government of his country for the repair of #1 Church House. Or did you plan to command him to do this work in secrete –like between you and him?

Do you people even think before you make such a fool of yourselves? What do you hope to accomplish by posting that thing here anyway–whoever you are; for there are teachers all over, including me–all you have done here is to embarrass us, with this kind of stupidity. Good Lord!

@”Face it”, “Face the facts”, “Simply the Truth”, “Justice and Truth”, and “Jane Toronto”

When I looked at the high number of comments here, I said to myself that DNO had printed your comments–which probably doubled the number for all the rest of us here.

And so said so done. I am telling you that you are the same person with all those different identity.

You are trying to be the angel of authority over the rest of us here, through your judgment of damnation and condemnation to hell. But do you know that Jesus said the devil is a liar and the father of lies?

Don’t you realize that you are being dishonest–or a false witness–by using those different names to speak to us here? I say us, because you simply go after everyone’s comment to pass your judgment of damnation against us –what is the point of hiding behind those names anyway!

Are you forgetting that God knows who you are; and He has said: “Thou shall not bear false witness? Don’t you know that each time you use a different identity, you are expressing the “fear” of people knowing who you really are? What are afraid of?

However you can change your name, but you cannot change your thoughts and your writing style–people like me will always know it is you–especially when the Catholic Church is mentioned in the News Article. Lol!

    Mr. Skerritt,

As a Dominican living abroad, I have heard and read numerous troubling articles about your dishonesty, your corrupt Government, . As a concerned Dominican citizen, I have had enough, and I have decided to do something about it.

I have been a Roman Catholic from birth, and I am now in my 50’s, so I appreciate any and every HONEST donation given to my Church, whether it is $5 or $5 million, as long as it is given in GOOD FAITH! It is glaringly obvious that you donation WAS NOT given in GOOD FAITH. It is very obviously a BRIBE to ensure the Bishop’s LOYALTY to you and your Corrupt regime. This time you have gone too far, and the Bishop has gone too far.

I have already contacted my Local Bishop here in NY for advice as to how to file a complaint with the VATICAN to begin an inquiry and to investigate the relationship between the Bishop of Dominica and the Government of Dominica. The process has already begun, and I will advise the Bishop of Dominica to prepare himself for what is to come.

He has tarnished the position that he holds. He has lost the confidence of Catholics in Dominica, and the Caribbean on a whole, and he needs to go! All Bishops are required to be neutral and impartial. The Bishop of Dominica has proven over and over again that he is a staunch supporter of the Prime Minister and his corrupt Labor Party, and he will pay the price for that.

He has arrogantly convinced himself that Dominicans can’t touch him and he is secure in his position, but when the ANTILLES EPISCOPAL CONFERENCE and the Vatican start receiving petitions to remove him, then maybe his boyfriend Skerritt will give him a job.

Mr Skerritt, why do you choose to obey and listen to the Lord when he asks you to donate money to someone who is a known supporter, but choose to disobey when he asks you to feed his poor, homeless, downtrodden, REALLY NEEDY children – whether they support your corrupt Party or not????

Remove yourself from the clutches of LUCIFER before it is too late for your Soul! Woe unto you who SAY know Jesus, but whose ACTIONS prove that they are disciples of SATAN!!!

A word of advice for you, Bishop Malzaire . . . extract yourself from Skerritt corrupt politics before the ANTILLES EPISCOPAL CONFERENCE begin their investigation into the numerous allegations and complaints of incompetence and corruption against you.

You need to do the right thing and simply RESIGN, because the Catholics of Dominica have lost their confidence in you. You have proven numerous times that you no longer serve the Catholic Church – your loyalties now lie with Roosevelt Skerritt and his band of cronies!
    YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!

    June 17, 2014

Skerrit understand the devil also works through men to compromised the church and this happens in many forms.

Therefore don’t make the lord responsible for your action it might just be the devil.

    Food for thought!!!!!

  10. I must speak!
    June 17, 2014

As a public officer in the Commonwealth of Dominica and a proud Christian believer, I have from time to time commended the PM on some of his “Christian virtues” both publicly and privately. I don’t mix matters and like to speak truth to power. I know for example that the bible teaches a lot on charity and helping meet the needs of the poor. However, I am concerned in the manner in which the PM seems to exploit our nation’s Christianity for the expressed purpose of maintaining his reelection legacy. Those of us who happen to know Mr. Skerrit personally will admit that the gentleman is not as sincere as he proports to be and if you doubt me on this run that by Ian Douglas and a number of his cabinet colleagues.

Skerrit always try to tap into our faith for political expediency particularly on an election eve and we are so fed up with this level of hypocrisy. Skerrit likes to assume the role of God and that places him in a very dangerous position as The Lord has said that he refuses to share his glory with another. Mathew Walter equates him with Jesus in his Jesus vs Barabas statement, Skerrit accepted with pride that reference without denouncing that description. Further, he rationalized his assistance to those who seek him by stating on the record whether people expect him to tell the people to go and pray to God for help and wait for God to answer or he deals with the matter expiditeously. Skerrit is suggesting that he responds in a more timely fashion than the Heavenly Father himself.

Now that the election is near, being that he has dropped the God is good saying because for him that expired in 2005, he is trying to keep the bishop and his followers since many people including the church are distancing themselves from his administration in droves.

On his donation to the bishop as he claims, I question both the timeliness and motive. I also have serious doubts that the good Lord would instruct him to make a selective gift of that magnitude to this particular group when many other churches are struggling with their own projects and budgets. The PM should remember that it is wrong to call the name of God in vain. What happened to the waiver of land transfer fees to pastor Rodney’s church?

I also have issues with the grandstanding and exploitation of our Yes We Care clients since that advertisement on exposes them and shames their relatives in the process. The bible says that don’t let your right hand know what the left hand is doing when it relates to these activities. It’s just all about catching a vote and nothing more!

He said it was done as a contribution to tourism as the church is a tourist attraction. Why did the Lord not instruct him to make that sizeable contribution to the Arieltram instead where many lost their jobs, pride and livelihood with its closure.? God could also advise him on his terrible treatment of public officers and that our cries for better treatment by our employer go unhidded.

I want to remind the Prime Minister that he can constantly try to manipulate his way through and fool the rest of us but no man can fool God! Sir do not be fooled, God is not mocked.

8-O In as much as I’m happy for the Cathedral to receive 500K to be used towards restoration of this iconic structure which has been an important part of my life, I cannot help but pick my jaw up of the floor. So the Prime Minister feels he has no apology and owes no explanation as to how appropriate or inappropriate this is. These are public funds, gathered from the public coffers, paid into by the public not all of whom are catholic nor necessarily support or wish to support the cathedral’s restoration. But Ayay…sa sa yay noh!!! He could have at least had the decency to just voleh the money as usual and maybe this time give it to his wife to make a PERSONAL donation to the bishop. But that is some IN YO FACE isht right thurrrrr!!!!

Does Mr. Roosevelt Skerrit knows his history, or does Mr. Roosevelt Skerrit believes we are all blind people in Dominica if yes Mr. Roosevelt Skerrit, should ask the President of Dominica, to give him some details of his general strike during the rain of Mr. Patrick Roland John’s Labor Party administration, in Dominica. Now Mr. Roosevelt Skerrit has received information from God advising him to segregated by technically telling Dominicans that the Roman Catholic church is the only true religious institution on earth so he should donate $ 500.000.00 to the Catholic church so that he will win the 2015 General Elections. Well nowadays God speaks to everyone including me and he told me, Dominicans should not vote for Mr. Roosevelt Skerrit this time.

“Francisco, I have followed your comments but this time I wish to disagree with you in some of your comments and sounds rather personal and with hate. I feel comfortable being a catholic and a practicing one at that.”

Well, if you think that I am personal with this thing, and has hate in my heart for someone, be it you the Prime Minister, or that so called bishop, I can’t help it but to feel very sorry for you, you can feel comfortable being, a roman catholic, that is your prerogative! The question is now; are you serving God, or maman? You had be very careful that you are not liking the reticules of the Roman Catholic which has nothing to do with God, nor the words of God written in the Bible.

I can only remind you of that part of scripture which states “for in vane they worship me.” Your worry the truth I told is contrary to your beliefs, well I am not prepared to minimize my believe, and say what you and others may want to hear, the truth hurts, and one way or the other if I can expose the wrong with the truth, I could care less who believe I am operating in hate.

As long as God knows what is in my heart, that is what matters, the opinions of men, no matter what their status in life, means nothing to me! Let it be known, I do not have a single bone of hate in my body, therefore, I do not know how to hate. And surly I will not compromise the truth to avoid the opinions such as yours!

I understand you Anonymous, but realize that we are talking about THE ONLY hospital we have here. The hospitals that are being closed in the US are all private companies that are set up. Not the Single Government Hospital in dire need of assistance. The Cathedral will get the money it needs from the Vatican if needs be, the Hospital however needs this money a WHOLE lot more than the Church.

It is grossly unfair to compare a hospiatal being closed in NY to a hospital being closed in Dominica. While making your comparism you should mention the emergency service response time to a 911 call in NY vs. DA. You should also speak to the deveopment of those ciities in NY to DA. Compare an emergency call in Marigot where the hospital has been closed to any borough in NY.

This $500,000 could renovate and keep Marigot Hospital, the first safety medical dept. that travellers from all over the world could be taken to and looked after. This should be a priority. If a person is ill there should be no race to Roseau on treacherous terrain to obtain medical care. This place, The Marigot Hospital should be in tip top shape and running without mishap. Come on Dominicans. Vote wisely and carefullly.

Let me tell you what happened here in Los Angeles: while the Roman Catholic Church paid out many, many millions of dollars, some people believe maybe billions of dollars, for homosexual crimes perpetrated on men when they were young boys; the diocese here in Los Angeles, sold more than one convent in the process.

One morning some nuns in the city of Inglewood boarding Los Angeles, woke up and found that the residence they lived in was sold. The women had no place to go! That is a wicked religion. While they sold the convent, leaving their very own nuns homeless, they had more then thirty million dollars to buy the old Crystal Cathedral in Orange County, and is spending more than thirty million dollars to renovate it.

Believe it or not, all of the major Banks operating in the world are owned by the Roman Catholic Church, I do not know if they are still the primary owner of Chase, and Bank of America, however in the 1980’s they owned both Chase Manhattan, and Bank of America. Bank of America, used their money to support apartheid in South Africa for many years while in existence. Vatican Bank in Vatican Rome is the richest bank in the world, why should Mr. Skerrit leave the people of Wesley and Marigot without a hospital, which even when it was functioning, one could not even get a bandage to cover an open wound?

Why didn’t, this so called bishop apply to Vatican bank for a loan or a handout to repair his church? What they did with the taxpayers of Dominica money is criminal, and somebody should go to jail for that, and I do not care who; the people of the country should demand that this man give the taxpayers money back to the government treasury, that is sucking the blood out of the poor people of the country; the Prime Minister can talk about God for as much as he wish to justify his political gift to that man, who is a tool of satan, and an political allied of the Labor Party, but God is not mocked; so said the Bible, and every man has to account for his evil deeds.

This is the epitome of conflict between Church and State. Every Dominica who pays taxes are not Catholic, and they may not want their money going to any church so called Church, they taxes people pay should only be used for purposes of the state. Medicine, Roads, and the public infrastructure in general, it is the responsibility of the congregation to support their church of their choice!

DNO, it came under criticism by “some” members of the public; not everyone. The critics are UWP supporters who are prominent on your Website. Everything the PM says and does they lambaste him on this Website.
It came under fire by godless people, also some of those who renounced Catholicism. What they are ignorant about, once baptized Catholic always baptized to eternity. St. Paul said there is one baptism. Some of them go church-hopping and every church they go to they are baptized. Can you believe that? Some ignorant people, eh?
I agree with the PM in that he said, those who criticized him are criticizing the Lord. Indeed! And they call themselves Christians? I am stating, woe to them! The Lord has heard them and knows what is imbedded in their hearts. Think of what He taught us as contained in Holy Scripture. Do you not think that He will severely punish you?
Who is this Pastor Benjamin? Since when you call yourself a pastor? Whoever you are, you may be a fallen away Catholic who formed your own church and for what?
When Our Lord said to Peter, “Thou art Peter and upon this Rock I will build My Church . . .”, He did not say to you, “you will build your church.”
I hate to say what is looming in eternity for people as you who have lured closet and cradle Catholics, who did not make it their business to know more about their Catholic faith. They listened to people as you criticize the Catholic Church’s devotions. They never considered contacting a Catholic priest about it and ask for his advice. They did not even ask God in prayers if this is right to do. They preferred listening to you who came from nowhere. What an error on their part. In time they will find out how wrong they were.
The Catholic Church needs help for this huge restoration of the Cathedral which has served also Gerald Benjamin and his family down through the years. Talk about ignorance and ingratitude on his part.
The Catholic Church is not demanding of its members how much to give. Gerald Benjamin, you who formed your church along with the others, you demand from those whom you amassed to follow you, a certain amount of their income. Who supports you Gerald Benjamin? If you were in charge of such a Cathedral how would you repair it? Would you allow it to deteriorate and never repair it?
Gerald Benjamin that is your opinion. You are envious and this is the devil’s work, to be envious of the Catholic Church and all who do good especially in D/ca. Whose side are you on? God or the devil? Your words depict it very well that you are on the devil’s side. It does not even reflect God’s opinion.
The next time you criticize the Catholic Church or feel like doing so, “Take it to the Lord in prayer.” You have a mouth and you shoot it against the Catholic Church but God will deal with you in time.
Gerald Benjamin, you are not a smart man. That is so silly. The Cathedral is consecrated to God. It is founded by Our Lord Jesus Christ. It is His Church, the Body of Christ. It is not merely a building. From now on you do not deserve to have a congregation in that church you claim to worship God in. You lead your followers astray.
God is good, He will take care of you and your words in time, Gerald Benjamin. You think you are an expert and you can speak on behalf of God and Bishop Malzaire and the PM. You have much to learn but in your ignorance you will never learn it. God hides his face, blessing, graces and enlightenment from people as you. He has veiled your brains and your eyes. You will remain just where you are and being a critic of the Church you and your ancestors once worshipped in. Due to the Catholic Church your ancestors who have since passed on may be in Heaven. Where will your soul end up since your spirit is a defiant one?

  28. June 16, 2014

“I make no apologies for giving the money to the Bishop. I carry out instructions from above and it is not me who gave the church but the Lord who gave the church the money”
    –Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit

Out of the 65 comments that is now on the board here, the majority is crying down the words of the PM which is spoken above. But why? I will tell you why with boldness of the Truth in God through Jesus Christ!

It is because you people do not know God and His ways. To read that someone believe “all the resources of the world belong to God, and in the same breath, to criticize a work which is done in His name, according to the Prime Minister–that describes the ignorance of God’s work in the minds of people–good grief!

Jesus has warned us the we can do nothing without Him. When Pilate suggested that he had the power to free Him or to condemn Him to death, Jesus told Pilate: “You could have done nothing to Me if it was not given to you from above.”

And so, the Prime Minster is right to say: It was not on his own, but by the Will God that he made that contribution–what he did was to express humility and obedience to God, which none of you here can understand. But humility is one of the Fruits of the Spirit–no man has expressed humility more than Jesus Himself, and yet He did that for your sake and mine.

Some of you are more foolish than others, as you use God and the Bible to write your stupidity–it doesn’t matter if the Prime Minster and his men and women of Government had built a tower that reached heaven–as long as he kept in mind, that he could not have done it on his own and to give God the glory–that is what God wants from him. He cannot do what God has not willed him to do–the approval must first come from God; and I am glad that he acknowledges that truth.

I am sure that none of you here know this message of God in the Bible so here it is–and yes it is from God, Himself, but by the wording and writing of the apostle Paul; that is the way God does all of His work on Earth, because He is Spirit, and a Spirit does not have flesh and bones, according to Jesus, Himself.

Mr. Skerrit thinks of himself and those who work with him, as the medium through whom God does His work in Dominica on behalf of those who are willing to follow him.

For God has said: Glory Only in the Lord–whatever we do

“For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, THAT NO FLESH SHALL GLORY IN HIS PRESENCE!

But of Him–GOD THE LORD– you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.” 1st Corinthians 1: 26–31

We should learn to think before we speak or write–the words of our thoughts can be extremely fruitless; even to the cause of our own demise–let those who have ears hear what the Spirit is saying.

Hon. Prime Minister, two wrongs don’t make a right. I love you and respect you as a person, but I will not compromise God’s word. Giving money to any church just before an election was not wise and is not politically correct and the bishop should not have accepted it at this time. Now to say “I carry out instructions from above and it is not me who gave the church but the Lord who gave the church the money. So those of us who want to criticize a good deed, are not criticizing me but is criticizing the Lord.” is very, very, very dangerous my friend. Here is one of the main commandments: Exo. 20: 7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Here is a modern translation of this verse:” You are not to use My name for your own idle purposes, for the Eternal will punish anyone who treats His name as anything less than sacred.” – The Voice. So you better be careful my friend, because you treading on very dangerous ground. What you have done is very corrupt and to say The Lord told you to do that is nothing short of using God’s name in vain, and God will deal with anyone who uses His Holy name as a passport to do wrong. My friend, don’t be surprised that you may have been rejected like King Saul of old was rejected.

Exodus 15:19-23 Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the Lord, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the Lord?
20 And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the Lord, and have gone the way which the Lord sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.
21 But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the Lord thy God in Gilgal.
22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast
Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

@Evangelist June 16, 2014 “Based on the prophecy revealed and seen by John in the Book of Revelation as it concerns the Roman Catholic Church”–those are your words

If that is what you understand in the message of John at the Book of Revelation, you are no Evangelist, neither do you know anything about God and His Love through His chosen servants.

Jesus spoke through John at Revelation 3 and 4 to seven different Churches; there is no denominational name of today, for the names of those Churches–even if the message is speaking to all the Churches of today; not just the Roman Catholic Church.

Your interpretation, here, is another proof that all of you are speaking things that your carnal minds cannot and will never be able to perceive, receive, and conceive–and I mean all of you!

But God’s knows those who are full of pride and self conceit–be careful that none of you is on the list of His “wrath” against the fleshly proud, mighty, and wise in their own eyes

“He added that the Church which is Yahweh’s called out Assembly of His redeemed people serves as the representative of His heavenly Kingdom and Government and “as such any authentic work of Ministry it engages in whether it is the proclamation of the Gospel or social services must be done exclusively to the praise and glory of His name and not to the name of the church.”–Gerald Benjamin

Benjamin, in the first place, when did the people of Dominica come to know anything about the name
“Yahwey”? I mean that we all speak English in Dominica, maybe a lot of patois as well, and I am sure the English Bible does not say “Yahwey” because this name is a “Hebrew” name–we do not speak Hebrew.

I do not know, and I do not care to know, but I know that the “Roman Catholic Church” is the “Universal Church”–it is the “National Church of Dominica” and in every Christian Nation, for that matter. But the Roman Catholic people of Dominica cannot find $500 000 for the repair, of the Church House, from their own pockets–the Prime Minister did a worthy thing to make that contribute on behalf of the people, where the majority is Catholics; why are people like you objecting to that contribution?

And yes! It is God’s Ways to give in the first place, because we never know when we will become in need–that is exactly what the Prime Minister deed. The Church contributed to the needs of the people in the past, through his government, now that the house is in need of repair, that is the time for those who have received to now be the givers in return–that is the way of God.

And so, what is your stupidity above, saying that: “Services must be done exclusively to the praise and glory of His name and not to the name of the church.” Pure nonsense! For how do you praise and glory the name of God, the Lord, if you do not do the work of Love, which is what the Prime Minister on behalf of the Roman Catholic people, who are the majority of Dominica.

It is true that I personally, do not accept some of the Doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church; but more and more I am discovering that the majority of the congregation of the different Churches are no different from the other–they have no knowledge of the “Eternal Spirit” I AM THAT I AM who is Christ of Love, Truth, and Righteousness in the Person, whose name is Jesus, Emanuel– meaning God with us –that lack of knowledge includes you and your congregation.

I also know that God is doing His work in this world, by the faith of His people and the Power of Holy Spirit in His chosen servants–He knows who they are, even if they are scattered all over the place, and in the different Churches.

Your claim that “the Church is Yahwey’s called” is an opinion for your own congregation; you are not speaking on behalf of all the Churches when you say Yahwey; this means that your congregation is not in harmony with the other Churches–but that is the problem with the other Churches as well–, otherwise you would not be crying down a contribution that was made to one of those Churches by the Government of her country.

It is men like you who are taking the people deeper and deeper into the darkness of hell, for you continue to keep them caged in ignorance–they are not free, for they do not have the ‘Truth of God Almighty–the Lord in Jesus Christ; you will have your rewards.

    • June 16, 2014

And one more thing! Here is what the apostle Paul says about Eternal Spirit, the Lord who is Christ in the Man, whose name is Jesus:

Phillippians 2: 9-11 “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of “JESUS” every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father”

I understand that you have denied the name “Jesus” and you believe that “Lord” is of the Gentiles of old. In other words you have denied the teachings of the apostle Paul–the man whom God chose to go and teach the Gospel to the Gentiles. Paul wrote two thirds of the New testament–Dominicans cannot understand those words if they are written in Hebrew.

Here is another one, that also is from the apostle Paul at Ephesians 5: 25-27! “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the Church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious Church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.”

This teachings of Paul should tell us that the Church is One Body–even if it has different names, which is the same with the Israelites.

At the Book of Revelation Jesus speaks–through the apostle John–to seven Churches, and yes! Jesus had a grievance against each one of them except one–but He did not abandon them, He simply warned them.

If you considered your congregation to be part of the Church of Jesus Christ as One Body, why would you criticize a service that was done to one of those Churches, which is of the majority of people in her vicinity?

St. Paul said, “. . . For God loves a cheerful giver.” When you give donations or help anyone in need in a godly manner, you have helped, from the help which comes from above, from God. If done in a generous spirit, God will bless you. Do not take this godliness and turn it into evil. This is what your mind is made up of, based on your comments.
Some of you are too ignorant. I wonder if you ever practice the faith and read the Bible or even pray to God. If you did, you would be spiritually enlightened. If you do, it is not helping you for you are sadly lacking in godliness, generosity and spiritual enlightenment.
Let me inform you further. In the country I reside in, there are many beggars, some of whom are called pan handlers, most of them are especially in the downtown area. As people pass by, they beg any and every one. Whenever I give them, at the same time I speak to them and give them some prayers, informing them they should go to church and that, “those who help them, this help comes from God.” Most of them said they are Catholics but they swayed from the Church.
If you do not know that the help the PM gave to Bishop Malzaire did not come through the inspiration of Our Lord, then you have a mortal and spiritual problem. This goes for each and everyone of you who criticize the PM. You should be pleased that this help is on behalf of the D/can people.
Do you not think that Bishop Malzaire was praying to God for help? Do you not know what Our Lord said? “Ask and you shall receive?”
Do you not know what Our Lord said about the man who knocked on a neighbour’s door in the night and kept knocking because he wanted a loaf of bread for a visitor and finally the neighbor got up and gave it to him? This is what Our Lord taught us. Keep asking Him and He will grant it, if it is good for us.
God helps through others. Read that passage. You have much to learn. Do not wait when you get old and are dying for it may be too late for you.

In the Bin and Fertilizer Bobols, the famous villas, the issuing of diplomatic passports, the Layou River saga and Felix Chen $$$$$$$$$, the corruption and corruption, etc., etc., etc., etc., did you get instructions from the Lord, too?

The instructions to sell, lease, or give free to the Chinese, the area Public works operate from for decades, was given from the Lord, too? And he told Skerritt and his Gov’t not to tell anybody about the deal?

The Lord instructed somebody to provide top notch security, the day that Lawyer was supposed to be at court re. the 42 charges filed by the elder lawyer?

Who instructed who to put up that kind of defence and protection, re. the horrible criminal firebombing act against two innocent Dominicans? The Lord, too? The Lord that give instructions to stall investigations, too.

Is the Lord who gave instructions to prevent Electoral Reforms, so that Elections could be FREE and FAIR?

Finally, will the Lord reward Skerritt in helping him in the elections against TRUTH, honesty, anti-corruption, integrity, transparency.

Beware of those bearing gifts. History has taught us many things. Francisco Telemaque you seem to be a know it all on all topics, however you must not bring down the Catholic Church because all churches and a matter of fact all institutions run by man has issues, because we are not perfect. Don’t point fingers because you are not perfect either. I cannot stand the constant negativity coming from you, you are a very negative person and maybe you need to start praying to God to deliver you from this negative vibe. The Catholic church doesn’t tell people to give 10% of their salaries to the Church, it is a church where you give what you want and what you can unlike the other denominations.

You are correct. Francisco is digging the hole for his grave. Little does he know that he will receive what he dishes out to others and more.
If Francisco is that intelligent, he should know how his church was formed. It was not formed by Our Lord Jesus Christ. All those churches that came after the Catholic Church was established are not approved and blest by God for He did not establish them. They have caused divisions and disunity in their environment and in the world. Francisco better pray to God for enlightenment. Those who criticize the Catholic Church are also devoid of God’s blessing and graces.
Ask Francisco when his church was established and for what reason. Today they have mouth and fingers on the keyboard, using them against the Catholic Church. The devil helps them very well. God is taking note. In time, they will feel the brunt of their evil words.
Thanks be to God we are Catholics and continue to remain in our Church which Our Lord Jesus Christ established. We are smarter than others who are not of this faith and those who renounced it. It will be revealed to them in time.

Well Face, I may have blown you up a little too soon, I discover this after I posted that last one, reading the following; I believe I can identify you as one who writes under another fictitious name, that’s what people gets when they write under different fictitious names. This is what gave you away” “Ask Francisco when his church was established and for what reason.”
You see here is your problem: You are into Religion, rather than into the word of God; typical roman catholic. Way back when I was a boy going to roman catholic church in Wesley, the priests always try to impress on us the young children, and the congregation in general that the their church was the first, and Peter (St. Peter was the first pope). Be that as it may, there is no mention of a position as pope mentioned in any part of scriptures in the Bible, and not even in the Roman Catholic Bible, which is the same as the Protestants Bible.

For your information: “Just the truth,” in the early days of the Church; the Church was never identify as Roman Catholic, Methodist, Adventists Pentecostal or any other religious name. It was referred to as “The Church” and Church imply’s a body or congregation of people assembling themselves together, and worshiping God. Everything changed when someone commenced tagging manes on to Religion.

If you read the Bible carefully, whenever a particular Church in a certain area was reference by Paul, if he was in Canada talking about a Church in America, he would say the Church in Los Angeles, or even Dominica for that matter, there was no denominational names. So, let us limit it to this: As many as believed on him, to them gave he power to be come the sons of God.

If I have the power to become a son of God, by simply accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior, why do I need some man who calls himself pope, or priest to take my problems to God, when I can go to him through his son Jesus. I wish I could detail the order of the Church here to you, unfortunately I cannot, but I can tell you the dates a religion was form has absolutely nothing to do with God, as far as which it the true, right, or wrong Church, and you are arguing that you roman catholic church is the first, I can quash that with one word “wrong!”

If you did not change your name from Just the Truth to Face, you would not have got two chasing.

God is love. God is generous. He has asked that everyone, government and the people be generous to others and His Church. This is what the PM did.
You cannot go before God filled with criticism, hatred and unenlightened. Therefore, get with it and educate your mind morally and spiritually. Humble yourself before God and pray to him for enlightenment that He will open your mind to the truth. At this moment your mind is blocked. You have caused this upon yourself because no doubt you failed to pay due homage to God or sincere homage. I wonder if you know how to pray. This is the reason why you lack godliness as depicted in your comment.

That’s quite an interesting take on the donation to the church and given that the Dear Leader was once compared to Jesus on the political platform by one of ministers, methinks there is probably some conflation going on with the word “lord.” Au contraire to the Dear Leader’s actions, Jesus himself said in the Holy Gospel of Matthew;”take heed, when you do merciful deeds, do not sound a trumpet like the hypocrites do that they may get glory from men.” In other words, he meant that true acts of charity should be done quietly.

At its best, giving is an act of worship. With a looming election, giving a half million dollars to any church smacks of vote-mongering at its best. I dare say on the authority of the word in the Holy Gospel of Matthew that the Lord would say, do your politiking, catch a vote if you can, but please quit using my name. And by the way, it is not charity if you are using other people’s money.

    June 16, 2014

Mr. Skerrit, You are walking on a very slippery path and you better stop it. For one, God is against lying Pro. 6: 16-19 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue. Most times one of these things God hates is accompanied by the others. They usually go together sir! So yes, God is against lying but when we lie on God like you are doing now, you are setting yourself up for serious trouble. While as a Catholic myself I agree the Catholic Church has helped the nation, I must also remind you that God is not a divider of the people or nation. He knows very well that if he were to tell you give the nations money to one church, he would be saying that the Catholic church is his preferred Church. While we have helped the nation, we must also admit that other denominations like the pestecostals, Adventist, CUM, Church of Christ, Methodist and others have all done a very good job in nation building and I don’t see why the Lord would have you to honor one and ignore others. Furthermore, the Lord has better judgement than that. he knows we are into an election campaign where the voive of the church has not been heard, why on this earth would he have you to do something so ungodly and unwise? In fact I am now even questioning the wisdom of my bishop to even accept money from you at this time. A true man of God would say not at this time Mr. PM, because he knows very well that even if you were to curse in public there is no way he would be able to correct you. Allow me to ask the following questions:
Was this money budgeted for? Was it in the Supplementary estimates?
Was this debated in the House?
Mr Skerit do you really expect people to believe that the Lord gave you instructions to give the bishop $500,000?
How is ti that you give large donations while the country is going through hell, with cost of living going through the roof and Public Officers are offered 0% salary increase?
I think your priorities are mixed-up.The timing was wrong, this was like a slap in the face of your public officers.
Was this gift given to draw attention away from the unsavory behavior of some government officials with vulnerable females?
Was that gift given to buy the silence of the Bishop of Roseau? Why has the church leadership kept silent about much of the injustice being dispensed to citizens who are members of their church?

So those of us who want to criticise a good deed, are not criticising me but is criticizing the Lord so be very careful what we criticize,” the Prime Minister said at the feast of St Anthony in Toucarie over the weekend.
I would like to make it clear to you Sir, since you clearly have forgotten your mandate. You do not carry out instructions from above nor are you answerable to ‘above’. You carry out instructions from the citizens of Dominica and you are answerable to the citizens of Dominica, not to the one ‘above’.
We are not criticizing a ‘good dead’ we are criticizing what you do with OUR money. Did you consult Parliament regarding this ‘Donation”?
One further thing, so if we criticise you – we criticise not you but the Lord? Man, you can’t be serious. Don’t talk such crap and expect us to swallow it. I think you seriously needs to have your head examined!!!
I’ve said it before and I say it again, your are a liability to this country and you have to go. If you ask me, sooner rather than later.

At the risk of sounding sacreligious I must make these few points.
I have no problems if Mr. Skeritt gives $10 Billion of his own money to the church, after all he is a catholic and no one can tell me how much money to give to my church.
The problem comes when the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of a country can say to that country, I am going to do whatever I want and be careful what you say because the Lord is who told me to do it and if you speak against it you will be speaking against the lord.
Well I am speaking against it and the relationship that I have with my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ tells me that the government ( Primemister, Dictator, Autocrat) has no business taking money from the poor to give to the richest religion in the world.
It is hard to imagine that the people are so blind that they can see no issues with this, where without consultation with anyone, Mr. Skeritt can just give away the state’s money to whomever he pleases.
Maybe the church would have money to do their repairs if they would have properly vetted their priest and not have to pay out all these millions for the child molesters who see the priesthood as a means to meet and molest young boys.
Bishop, give the poor people back their money and show to the world that your true calling, your vow of poverty has called you to be a servant, one who cannot be used to buy votes for a corrupt regime.
    The Lord is watching…

You know what! the Bishop reported Father Reggie to the Vatican – because he was convinced that Fr. Reggie matter could not have been dealt with by the Roseau office; well this is just as serious to my mind therefore we catholics we should refer this matter to Pope Francis at the Vatican because the Roseau Office will not be able to deal with it. The only other option is for the Bishop in my opinion is to humbly and gracefully give the checque back not to the person who gave it to him but to the treasury of Dominica. The faith in me tells me if the Bishop should humble himself and do just that especially against the almost blasphemous words used by the PM the church – to be specific the Cathedral will be completely renovated without much more effort- for the Lord loves honesty and modesty and he rewards accordingly; and the Lord works in mysterious and just ways. What would the Bishop rather most that when the history is written – it would be noted that he stood for a gift from Skerrit under the disguise of it being from the Lord or that he Bishop Malcare stood on the side of the Word and that of the Lord —-to reject this divisive and bogus act; I mean just look at what it has already caused among Gods people and mark you not only among catholics but also among non catholic christians. The great hymn says “bind us together Lord bind us together like a chain that cannot be broken” – then why is the Bishop through his acceptance of this checque allowing the chain to be compromised; My Dear Bishop my plea to you now that the ball is in your court is to bring Gods people back together and not side with man–whose action has caused us to be further divided-we have made great strides at cementing our faith and that of the evangilicals in unisome of one God. we have seen a greater togetherness among us as catholics and other churches that was never been seen before; see what this so called gift has caused to the body of christ – the church!- are you not realizing that reality Bishop? what are the repercussions if we do not humble? Thats the Lords call:

The church is working for the state. They are their lords and masters in God that they may function as a government. Ludacris representation of God the Father. I don’t see the Vatican’s contribution as viable and their influence is one sided. For their reign and power of innocent God fearing citizens. For their lord and their illuminati Vatican drug lords to rule the people’s faith into judgment. It is the people that must stand against these atrocities and leave them in their hypocrisy. A rich evil organization like the Vatican cant fund itself. Well look it. Well Skerrit will help you. He knows of your cause. When the Africans and the Ethiopians were being plundered and killed for their wealth it was the Vatican, illuminati under his lordship Mussolini who got blessed by that same Vatican, to kill us for the white man and his cause. But it is written in Revelations that the Whore dressed in purple and scarlet that robbed the people of their faith will be brought into judgement.

  79. Which Lord?
    June 16, 2014

I wonder which lord Skerrit heard from? The Lord of the bible warns his servants about taking gifts/ bribes:
    2. Chron. 19:7 Wherefore now let the fear of the Lord be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the Lord our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.
Pro. 19:6 Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
Pro. 17:23 A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment.
Ecc. 7: 7 Surely oppression maketh a wise man mad; and a gift destroyeth the heart.
1 Sam. 12:3… or of whose hand have I received any bribe to blind mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it you.
1 Sam. 8: 3 And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment
Amos 5: 12 they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.

Preachers, priests, pastors, evangelists or anyone who claims to be a servant of God must daily guard themselves against being bribed because history of the bible tells us that when wicked politicians were in trouble they often turned to bribing church leaders.

To say that those criticizing your decision to blur the line between church and state is to criticize God, you have really fallen to a place where village idiots dwell.
All I need to say is that you can do better than that.

    June 16, 2014

From a biblical and rational point of view Gerard Benjamin was very articulate and clear. The ramifications are potentially strong if such display of arrogance by the prime minister continues. In such a situation it is not a matter of qui pro quo. The state should not ‘repay’ the church for it’s deeds. An unfortunate precedent may be set whereby the separation of church and state may be compromised. We know in the election season electioneering takes all shapes and forms. The good deed whic the prime minister thought he performed can be interpreted as a catch-a-catholic vote strategy in disguise. I think we must make a conscious effort to allow fairness and commonsense to prevail so that our conscience be free.

Gerard Benjamin was arrogant. He is out of place to criticize the PM’s generosity to the Catholic Church. How much of his income does he give to the revenue of Dominica? Gerald and yourself are making you bed and you will lie in it, the same as your grave.

If anything, I agree with the comments of the preacher, Benjamin, as heard in the news on Q 95, whereas the Prime Minister, may claim that he did not give the Bishop the money, God gave it; many of us who knows what thus saith the Lord must disagree with him!

For God never instruct government to give money to any so called church; nor should the Church take political contributions from Government. The Bible teaches the Church is supposed to function off the tithes, and offerings given by members of the church! The Bible also said ” render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar, and unto God the things that are God.”

The Prime Minister need to realize that God Jehovia, is not a poor God; all the resources of the world belong to him. God said in his word: he makes people rich. If we find a Church struggling to find five hundred thousand dollars, it is because God is not in that Church. And it does not take a rocket scientists to figure out God is not in the Roman Catholic Church: because of the false doctrine they teach.

When you pray to the Virgin Mary, and role beads of rosary, and praying to saints, such prayers are not heard by God. For Jesus instructs people to pray to his Father, asking of him what we want in his name (Jesus) name, believing we receive it, and it will be given to us. Mr. Skerrit can talk about God, as much as he wish in his defense, that will be frightening to people who does not know the word of God; but I can tell him whereas he has the right to believe what he wish, I can tell him that God does not welcome such gifts.

If God wanted the roof of that building to go up, he would not wait on a political gift, God plays no part in politics!

The devil and his followers always have much to say against the Catholic Church.
You are no perfect person. Pray to God for forgiveness. Make penance and reparation that you may appease God. Everyone’s day is coming when they will have to answer to God for what they have done and have failed to do; some more so than others.
If I were you, at your age, you do not know when the Master of the house will come. You should prepare your soul and leave the Catholic Church and the PM alone lest you suffer even more for your actions.

Francisco, I have followed your comments but this time I wish to disagree with you in some of your comments and sounds rather personal and with hate. I feel comfortable being a catholic and a practicing one at that.
Your comments are distasteful and said without consideration or even offering me the opportunity to consider what you say that I as catholic can go home and be educated. Rather than teaching and educating you are throwing spears at me and therefore the message is lost. You are mixing apples with oranges on this issue. The issue is Skerrit and NOT WE Catholics. WE share your views and coincerns. The issue is about the abuse of states funds and NOT how I and other Catholics worship in our church and practice our faith.

However, you are defending your stance as a Catholic and not Prime Minister Skerrit, with his government, pertaining to his contribution to your Church, for repair of the Church House–as you say: “The issue is Skerrit and NOT WE Catholics. WE share your views and concerns. The issue is about the abuse of states funds”–are dumb or what?

You claim to share the views of that commentator, against the Prime Minister, while you pull yourself and your Church out of it–how stupid can you be?

Have you not understood that the Prime Minister is under fire because he contributed money to your Church for the repair of your Church House–what you are claiming to be abuse of money?

Well if that is the way you people are thinking, maybe the Prime Minster made a grave mistake–I almost believed that all Catholics in Dominica would be on his side–holy cow!!!

Hon. Prime Minister, two wrongs don’t make a right. I love you and respect you, but I will not compromise. Giving money to any church just before an election was not politically correct and the bishop should not have accepted it at this time. Now to say “I carry out instructions from above and it is not me who gave the church but the Lord who gave the church the money. So those of us who want to criticize a good deed, are not criticizing me but is criticizing the Lord.” is very dangerous my friend. This is an excellent question. He would have accepted it and endlessly sing the praises of the PM. You note when it is on the other side? He is jealous. The reason why these people speak against the Catholic Church, they are jealous of It.
We know that Satan is jealous for he knows what he lost through pride and disobedience. He knows which Church Our Lord Jesus Christ established on earth. He knows which Church is The One and Only True Church, the Catholic and Apostolic Faith. So he goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour to no good. These people do not know that they are influenced by Satan himself.

    • June 17, 2014

@Anonymous June 16, 2014 “Pastor Benjamin – If that money was presented to you for your church, would you have accepted it?”

This Benjamin pastor is the last person to respond to what is done for the Catholic Church or any other Church beside his own congregation–for many different reasons.

In Dominica we speak English or Patois, all of our Churches speak about God, Jehovah, Lord and Jesus Christ–he comes in this news article with “Yahwey”–do you know why?

Because they claim that Jesus, Lord, and God is not divine names–they say those names are from the Gentiles of old.

They say that Yeshua, not Jesus, is the Messiah–seem as if they do not know that Yeshua is the Hebrew name for Jesus; and as far as Yahwey is concerned–no one knows for sure that it is a name for God Almighty, Eternal Spirit of Love, Truth and Righteousness.

Research has told us the pronunciation for “YHWY” was lost because the Law of Moses taught the Jews not to speak God’s name in vain–that is the reason “Lord” was so commonly used in the Old Testament–in the New Testament this same “Lord” refers to “Jesus Christ”–that is how we should understand that Jesus is the Person of God Almighty, Christ who lives in Him.

So this man should not represent the people of Dominica–as in this situation–his opinion will always be negative.
