Skerrit encourages surrounding communities to take advantage of opportunities provided by Jungle Bay

PM Skerrit speaking at the vine-cutting ceremony of the newly re-opened Jungle Bay

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has alerted the people of the surrounding communities to the new opportunities and positive possibilities for local businesses that the newly-reopened Jungle Bay Resort is providing and the  potential impact on those communities.

The prime minister spoke at the five-star resort’s reopening ceremony and official vine cutting on Sunday, June 30th 2019 in Soufriere.

“I am hoping that my friends in Gallion, Soufriere and Scottshead will continue to appreciate the impact that this hotel is going to have on the way of life in the communities first and foremost, but certainly in the whole of Dominica,” the prime minister stated. “There are number of goods and services which this hotel will require. We in Soufriere, Scottshead and Gallion are primary fishing communities and we have to ensure that we position ourselves to be the first suppliers of fish to this hotel and we will be talking about hundreds of pounds of fish, thousands of fish each year that we are going to supply.”

The Prime Minister said that he would like for people to be in the position to be able to supply the hotel with all the goods and services that are available.

“What about all of you who would’ve gone to universities with degrees in business administration, agronomy, economics, law, medicine? You don’t only have to as a doctor – be only interested in medicine or a lawyer only interested in law –  there are many other things that we can do with our God given knowledge and skills to position ourselves to have multiple sources of income to get us to be rich and move from the working class to the middle class and from the middle class to the upper middle class in terms of monetary situations,” he explained.

Skerrit believes that the resort is providing a great opportunity and hopes that people can sit down as interested parties with the proprietor in determining what services and goods are required and the volumes and the frequencies at which they can be supplied to the hotel.

The Prime Minister commended Sam Rafael and promised to continue working with him.

BEB; citizenship by investment is a process whereby wealthy individuals can obtain a second citizenship extremely quickly in exchange for an investment in a country; not in the place of their birth.
Economic citizenship are largely valuable to three types of people: US citizens who wish to quickly renounce their citizenship, and others who wish to invest money in other countries.
Economic citizenship began in Ireland in the 1960’s, investors were invited to Ireland to invest in the economically depressed areas, and in return to protect their investment citizenship was granted after they deposited money in  a bank, and guaranteed that whatever the business it had to employ at least twenty-five people in its first phase of operation.
So, the question Dominicans must asked, how can a man born in Dominica building a guess house or a motel, be involves in any citizenship by investment program.
Such people are involved in Citizen Involved In Corruption Program (CIICP), created by…

Happy for.the opening of this 5-star hotel. Go Us Dominica.

The opportunities which exist the people should most definitely take advantage of them. To each his own janitorial work is not some peoples thing but it has it’s people who can make a living by doing it. This is what the business world involves.

So now that Sam has accomplished his objective and reopened the hotel on a grander scale, will Skerritt revoke his privilege as a passport selling agent and give that opportunity to another existing hotel owner so they can generate money to get back in the business and even upgrade and expand their hotel? Skerritt, inquiring eyes are watching.

  6. We Small
    July 3, 2019

This is a good thing for Dominica and the local community. Now it would help Dominica even more if the small business initiative that was announced after the hurricane was up and running. People were encouraged to spend their little bit of money to register their small businesses, make sure they have social security representation, and they would be eligible for a small help from the gov’t. Then they were told that the money put aside for this small help would be used for other purposes, and they would be helped later. Up to now later has not come. People we need big business and big business investment, but any economist worth his salt will tell you that it is the multitude of small businesses that really drives the economy and keeps it going. Help the small businesses Mr. Gov’t.

“It is time we wake to the nature of the Beast and company” What on earth do we, or should we expect from this failed Skerrit and his exceedingly corrupt government. Here is another “Belle Tory” from this weird, inept PM and his failed Labour government: “Then they were told that the money put aside for this small help would be used for other purposes, and they would be helped later. Up to now later has not come…..” and I dare add by saying. “……and they will never come. It is just talk and fear and excitement. These guys know where they expense stats resources, that is our tax payers money. It appears to be selective and hypocritical. This Skerrit led Corrupt Labour Government has been and is very deceitful and dangerous.
It`s time that Skerrit and his failed corrupt Labour Government go. They have failed us and have been too immature to manage this resources we have in Dominica. Those Labour clowns have failed us.

Congratulations Sam. This is your calling. The hotel is beautiful and will provide jobs for many Dominicans. You now Skerrit, what you really thinking nuh? Is this all you see for Dominica? We have so much more to offer that selling passports and building hotels. We have lush rainforests, majestic boiling pools, beautiful waterfalls, rivers and valleys. Creative people and fertile land. All you can come up with is sell passports? That’s it? Somebody, go get me my belt!

Well put. I have a belt, a good one too from the days of Grandfather and Grandmother. Will have it delivered for you at the Odd Minister’s office for effective use. Ouuuuuuch. Good for you, go for it. To be disciplined is not a crime, just administer please to where it should be. It has now been delivered to Skerrit’s office. Go pick it up. Remind him of the abuse of the states funds. The lies and deception of the Bin Bool and the Fertlizer Bobol. The abuse of states funds and buying of loyalty through the Red Clinic where those who has became poor under 19 years. You had no plans, no foresight, no vision but to open up your Red Clibic office while those in poverty wait for handouts.
In coming Prime Minister Hon. Lennox Linton had Skerrit covered in Pennsylvania etc re the Bin and Fertlizer Bobols. We need our money back in the treasury. Skerrit must Go, he has been this failure and should have never been Prie Minister. Skerrit has failed us big time. He must we need him out ASP.

Wallace, stop being hypocritical and put Domininca and its suffering people first and let Skerrit go about his Funky Business. Where the hell do you live, or reside? Is it out of Dominica. Well wake up and come about Dominica and see the poverty etc. Alot has been done for Jungle Bay, just to raise Skerrit up and offer him some platform that he may be doing something nice. My Foot!! At the same time we see no investment for our people. Passports selling is our main product for sale all over the world, but we don`t see the results of these sales . At the sametime our people in agriculture has been ignored and thrown to the abyss. Skerrit has no plans for Dominica and he has ruined our nature island with hypocritical schemes that has not benefited our people.
We have had enough of Skerrit’s game and we want this man and his failed Labour group out of government ASAP.
We need new government, trusted, dedicated, We welcome Hon. Lennox Linton and his highly professional UWP Team.

I am convinced that this so called disappointed Skerrit, PM OF Dominica (HOW SAD) is a big joke and probably does not rehearse his speech nor comprehend what would be the value and message he wish to share with Dominicans before he goes out to just talk from a prepared speech.
“Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has alerted the people of the surrounding communities to the new opportunities and positive possibilities for local businesses that the newly-reopened Jungle Bay Resort is providing and the potential impact on those communities.”
What would be the difference to this new location compared to where Jungle Bay was before? Jungle Bay is a small enterprise and although I welcome it, the bigger picture is to have businesses open up all over the place. Skerrit where is our passport money? The government ensures that the country is decent, no corruption, no deception, but feels comfortable when they come that the environment enhances them and ensures that they are well settled.

“Roosevelt Skerrit has alerted the people of the surrounding communities to the new opportunities and positive possibilities.”

Roosevelt, let me remind you there are absolutely no positive job opportunities in a guess house or hotel in Dominica.

In the first place hotel work even on the popular islands of the Caribbean are seasonal:

Very few hotels employs people year round.

If you wish to term a janitorial; or a maid job as an opportunity, with positive possibilities, I feel very sorry for you!

Someone educate their child elementary, secondary, and two years of college education in Dominica, only to go and work in a Hotel/Guess house as servants, making-up beds after they are slept in and the washing of dishes, and sheets.

You call that positive possibilities, with no place to advance?

    Man you are mad!

Let’s not forget that Satan is a liar and Father of all lies and deception! Now concerning Skerrit I suggest he should encourage Gaston Brown to come down to invest because 99% of Dominicans dont sell cbi passports and are therefore very broke.

The money that was given to this entrepreneur is the people’s money. This question needs an answer. Would the millions be paid back to the government coffers? What were the terms of this public-private collaboration? The details should be made public since the people’s money is involved. Any port in a storm, any business is welcomed in this abysmal economy. Mr. Skerrit is over selling this resort for political expediency as usual. Of course, again, it is welcome but we have to ensure that the public funds return as hastily as possible back to the government treasury. It’s needed for repair of schools, roads, bridges, health centres, etcetera. Where is the transparency by the way?

I took hold of the opportunies provided by Ross University 20 yrs ago and Skerrit allowed his Bajan advisors to take the school from Dominica and moved it to Barbados. So tell me if I can invest on Skerrit and Monfared passport money.

UWPites most stop being salty. After Erica, when Sam said he would rebuild allu had such nice things to say about him. He genuinely cared about his employees during the closure and their personal misfortune during and after Erica.
But instead of being happy that a new 5 star hotel is opening, Sam will be employing more people and offering a larger local market for farmers allu having negative comments. Why, what benefit is this negative posts? Wasn’t his 1st hotel venture a success even without an airport? Why do know-it-alls cry about stuff when they themselves are afraid to take risks to advance themselves.
Stop jahlousing people and go develop yourselves. Sam is one of the few people who spend money and time investing, promoting and developing Dominica, y crying him down becuz of your political opinion. Wasn’t he ‘a model citizen’ when UWP gave him $6million to build his 1st hotel and he didnt have to pay it back? SMFH

      July 3, 2019

No, we crying him down because he is another Dominican who could not resist Skerrits call in exchange for big money. Sam has bet on the wrong horse and no doubt will have to repay a serious amount of money to the treasury unless there are shares in favour of the state of Dominica in existence.

Ti Garcon, your write is false and you make it up as you go There is no time at all that UWP were against any programme or project. UWP comments on the quality of projects that will benefit out people and country. That is what it is. there must be accounatabity and genuine matters of implementing projects. My understanding is that it is sates money that has invested in this projects.. Many Dominicans welcome it, so what rely is your stress Mr. Ti-Garcon? Open your eyes and stop being selective.
By the way, Skerrit must Go. He has been this failure to us Dominicans,. He has no forward plan, just being spontaneous and we have nothing to say of increased investment and earning coming into our Domininca now.
Skerrit is this flamboyant man who knows nothing of socio-economic development. He goes about and now we hear in Antigua dying for Dominicans to come home to vote him. Well, why is he so desperate? Because he has seen the writing on the wall. He must Go. Skerrit has failed us. Go

I often hear people say they are planning a five star hotel. Bull…..! A hotel gets its ratings from its guests review based on their satisfaction or dissatisfaction. As the ratings increase the hotel gains points and thereby its ratings. A newly opened hit cannot class itself as a five star hotel. When did the newly opened hotel move from one star to three stars to five stars? Additionally Mr Skerrit, communities cannot grow if the individuals do not grow. When you have the island in poverty and slavery how do you expect them to grow and prosper? Can someone receiving $4.05 per hour ever become someone of substance? Skerrit you are now o e of if not the richest person in Dominica. Where is your investment other than a fowl coup? Free up Dominica and you will see how individuals and Dominica grow.

With your concern on star ratings of the hotel the 1 star up to 5 star ratings is based on the amenities which exist at the hotel for example swimming pool etc .

Big Bannan, I concur with you fully, wholeheartedly. This country and government is all over the place and we nothing happening of substance to say that this failed corrupt government has made a path way that we pursue to some level of development and decency in government that the entire country is able to embrace and be part of that developmental process everyday as we are Dominicans. We however have Dummies running our country blindly and illiterately and they must Go. Damn DLP \Go Away, you all have failed us.
We look forward to Hon Lennox Linton and his credible, Professional Team UWP., to return our Dominica to that level of decency and credibility. Amen.

You are free to pass judgment, but God is also free to deal with you.

It is a principle of God’s Word, that if a person feels that the group or people he is walking with is not walking his desired path, he/she also has the right to come away from the company of that group or people, which is what “Sam Rafael” did.

And his decision paid him right. Where would he be, had he continue to follow the path of his previous group?

Again I will remind you had I not made a mistake and introduce you to politics you would not have become an annoyance on DNO.

As far back as in UWP days certain individual been taking government money ripping the government off by not paying back.

Your boy Roosevelt even threatened to take Raphael to court to recover more than six million dollars he owed government.

Do you Elizabeth know if Raphael has repaid that six million plus?
