Skerrit praises Registe; chides ‘wavering’ labourites

Prime minister and DLP leader Roosevelt Skerrit

Significant and symbolic.

That’s how Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has described the candidacy of  DLP senator Edward Registe in the Grand Bay constituency recently.

“It highlights the benefits of loyalty,” he stated. He said Registe has become a staple in the diet of the Labour Party who can be can be relied upon to stand firm or stand tall in the corner of the DLP.

“I am confident that Ed Registe will be a formidable warrior for and on behalf of the people of the Grandbay Constituency in the Parliament of Dominica,” the prime minister stated at the DLP’s launch of Registe recently. He said this is a most deserving elevation for someone who has laboured so hard for so long in the service of the Dominica Labour Party.

“He has been with us in good times and in not so good times,” Prime Minister Skerrit stated. “He has kept spirits lifted and energies vibrant even in our darkest moments…we need more people like Ed Registe in and around the Labour Party today.”

Meantime, Skerrit admonished those labourites who, he said, despite years of continuous assistance and contribution to the party, are now wavering in their support for the DLP in the upcoming election.

He said there are those who admit that the DLP did a good job, but have taken the party’s achievements for granted, and are now saying it is time for change.

“Change what ladies and gentlemen? Change to whom? Whom would you change Labour for in Dominica right now?” he asked. “Let us be serious…If you have a Toyota car you are free to consider changing it into a Nissan or a Honda or Suzuki or even a Hyundai.”

Skerrit added, “If you ladies in the crowd have black hair you can change it to brown or blonde or brunette tomorrow if you wish” adding that there is nothing wrong in exercising a choice, “if the choice you consider, is not harmful to your interest or well-being.”

The Grand Bay constituency has been held continuously by the Dominica Labour Party for the last 34 years.

“He said this is a most deserving elevation for someone who has laboured so hard for so long in the service of the Dominica Labour Party….” Oooooohhhh my God. Skerrit, you`re the biggest, deceptive, ignoramous person ever to serve as Prime (Odd) Minister in our Dominica. You have failed us, all of us, Labour, UWP, DL and Independent. From where I sit at The Financial Centre, we all know of you and your failures, immaturity, deception and wayward political views and habits. And you with your silly statement saying that: “Skerrit praises Registe; chides ‘wavering’ labourites”. Failed Skerrit, what on earth does this mean. You are in government for over 19 years and you don`t have the decorum and diplomacy to use the decent choice of words on such matters?
Skerrit you have crippled our economy and growth. The only growth we know of that Odd Minister, and other nefarious allies are happily benefiting from the availability of niceties cash, as some say, “from the superior”…

At some point the guard changes, and there is nothing that can be done no matter how much freebee is given out, because inn time it is all revealed.

In which universe, which country, which planet you see a government is giving out house, cars, coolout… and all the rest? Is that how a county should be run? Is that how a government should conduct itself.. in taking care of the people’s business? This is legal corruption which must be stopped! It must end for decent Dominicans to contribute to the development or the country, because it is not Roosevelt Skerrit country, it is our county. It is more than time.

The fear is real and understandable, because people will wake up and see the truth. We are a very intelligent people, slow to wake up, but when we do, and realize we are only getting crumbs while the real crust is distributed all over off shore banks then it all comes to a head.

Like Buhari in Nigeria, the people’s money will be hunted down and recovered.

It may surprise you but we do have senseble people in the country. People who can read between the line. People who can tell sense from nonsense. People who can stick to the relevant issues and questions pertaining to them and not get side tracked by maypwi, rubbish talk and sidetracked rhetoric. So when you talking about change from nissan to toyota and color of hair in comparison to governments, it is clearly obvious that you are a fear monger. That is you approach, create an environment of fear like the people you speak to, your SHEEP so to say, will be fearful of anything else other than your mediocre party. Alas, poor dominica and the people who live in it. In the end, a political party CAN BE CHANGED EVERY 5 YEARS! IF WE DO NOT LIKE UWP WE CAN VOTE THEM OUT TOO. so there is no need to try to act like if we remove you that is the end for you, unless you think uwp will outshine you by miles.

This woman is a real clown. I bet my last dollar that this woman just open messages that makes no sense that we can give it the respect it deserves by reading it, analyse it, comprehend it to see where and how does this script fit in to the bigger picture that we are concerned about. That bigger picture is failed immature Skerrit and his wicked, corrupted, failed labour government. It is a sad state of affairs that Skerrit and his loose ministers have reduced our poor people as beggars who receive handouts, whereas for 19 years they have been asking for jobs to be independent and to take good care of their family. Skerrit is dumb to socio-economic development, meaning he is illiterate on matters of states development, so he rather goes through the back door and have our poor families in hundreds que up at the Financial Centre and receive them one by one and give them big cash. This is insulting, shamefull. That is what Skerrit really is. He failed us. We welcome Hon Linton & Team UWP.

I’m surprised that you were surprised about Skerrit’s trivial and puerile talk. Mr. Skerrit is shallow and superficial. He has no depth. In fact, the man is an intellectual lightweight. Why do you think As.taphan is the de facto leader of the country? Skerrit once said that As.taphan can speak (lead) for him anytime he so desires. There is a two headed snake reaping havoc at the helm of government. Discard this corrupt regime and replace it with the team of Patriots who will put people first. The present regime has long lost its way. They are the architects of Poverty, Hunger, Joblessness, Rigid Polarization, Animosity, Victimization, Discrimination, Beggary and Nothingness.

Skerrit sounding like he is very scared of Ed Registe. Does he feel that if DLP wins the election Ed Registe, a friend of the late Pierre Charles and one that’s very familiar with the treatment Pierre got from Skerrit, which led to his early home going, Ed Registe in return might return him the favor by any means possible? I don’t believe Skerrit feels good about Ed Registe being the DLP candidate.

Now we have Bald Head Skerrit and we don`t want him nor trust him with matters of State. Skerrit has failed us and has done nothing substantial that would move our Dominica to higher heights with employment for our people and also to plot that graph and map to direct us as to where our failed island Domininca is going. With Skerrit and this failed pilot, it is best he is given to fly a plane all on his own. This Labour GOVERNMENT has been negligent and incompetent in the management of our struggling Dominica. 19 ministers and an obvious immature, little bird called Skerrit has ruined our islands economy and goes about chirpy chip chip like a baby bird, seeking attention. This man Skerrit is the biggest political failure in the life of Dominica’s independence.
Our Nature Isle Dominina, needs serious leadership and decent politicians to manage with Protocal, decency and respect for our people and our government and practice good governance. We welcome Hon. Linton and decent Team UWP.

People need to take a look at their environment, after 20 years most of our communities are ghettoes, crime has increased all around, our culture has dwindled, and even with the new developments, such as in castle Bruce, san sauver, la plain etc. are not holistic, no recreational facilities. These projects seems like they’ve been rushed hence poor conceptualization, just as the projects being presently undertaken in a bid to gain political influence. The saddest part of it is that we as a nation allowing this to be the definition of our development as a society. People really should consider why they are voting!

But what is all that loyalty to DLP about nou? PM you must have confused Ed Registe with Joseph Isaac man? We all know Ed and we all know him to be a photo DLP so no need to tell us about his longtime loyalty to the DLP. That speech of yours is very concerning because it lives the impression that Ed is or was a UWP like JI and he switched and therefore laborites don’t trust him. Only if you might have said in the past that Ed could not be trusted like Ian told us about you. Or maybe you are concerned about Ed’s unwavering supporter of the DLP and not enough support for your family party. Whatever be the case I take offense that you gave that kind of speech about Edward Registe, a true laborite from birth in compared to speeches you gave when you launched people like Gretta, JI, karessa who were not laborites. Is Ed Registe too labor for you? Does he share too much of the ideals of DLP stalwarts like Rosie, Pierro and others for you? Are you concerned that he might not worship you?

Yes sah. Here we have a PM comparing the change of government to the change of vehicle or hair colour. This is another blatant example of how how the electoral process is being taken for a big fat joke. I did not listen to his speech but I fervently hope that he would have continued in the same vein and outline to the audience the fundamental differences between the DLP and the UWP, as opposed to placing the choice between two political parties on the same level as things as trivial as choosing a vehicle or changing one’s hair colour. I expect better from a PM. However, as the saying goes, disappointment is rooted in expectation. I guess then I should no longer expect anything from our PM, because if his comparisons are only what quoted in this article then I am sadly left wanting.

“I should no longer expect anything from our PM, because if his comparisons are only what quoted in this article then I am sadly left wanting”. @Smh

That is because you did not try to understand what he was saying. The key to that understanding is “change what”?

In other words, the PM is asking what is it those certain persons want to change–that it cannot be the present Government because there is no other for a “replacement”.

The Prime Minister is saying, if you want to change your car, you know what you are going replace it with—so if those people are asking to change the ruling Government, where is, or who is the other group that will replace them?

Excuse me, I need no course in comprehension. I never said I did not understand what the PM was saying or rather tries to say. It seems you do not understand what I’m saying. My statements were clear, at least I think so. However, for your benefit I will try my best to reduce any ambiguity.

My opinion is that the trivial matters the PM has compared the changing of governments to is beneath the seriousness of the electoral process. You may disagree as is your right. However, this is my stance on the matter. One may argue that this was a simplified way of making his argument and convey his message in order reach the maximum number of people. However, I feel that the electoral process is above such trivial issues and wish that the PM would stick to highlighting the fundamental differences between his party and the UWP when campaigning. I’d much prefer to hear plans and policies, and not have it placed before in the form of cars and hair color. @ ElizabethLinaXavier

That speech of PM sounds like that of a preschool teacher that wasn’t prepared to teach. To me PM sounded like a person that is deeply worried, troubled and distressed about his future. I call on Mr. Carbon, Vallarie and Mills to surround the PM with some good officers that will do whatever it takes to protect PM. As I listened to the speech of the PM I got very afraid for him. This passage comes to mins 1 Sam 31:4-6
“Then Saul said to the one who carried his battle-clothes, “Take your sword and cut through me with it. Or these men who have not gone through our religious act will come and kill me with the sword and make fun of me.” But the one who carried his battle-clothes would not do it, for he was filled with fear. So Saul took his sword and fell on it. 5 When the one who carried his battle-clothes saw that Saul was dead, he fell on his sword also, and died with him. 6 So Saul, his three sons, the one who carried his battle-clothes, and all his men, died that day together.

This is the true reason why skerrit gives any assistance. Its not for love of people or country. Its for votes. The brining of popular gospel artist is just to play on dominica Christian weakness to bring out the masses so he can manipulate with words like lets come together and put political tribalism a side. The folks are in a sensitive spiritual place and perfect for manipulation. Diabolical to the T. Free and fair means people have right to vote who they want without fear of intimidation or bribes of for favours from public purse. When he can tell those same ‘grown people’, ‘I have insurance and can get medical assistance for family, what about you?’; and they cheer for that, he can say anything he wants. They keep campaiging as if they have been in the opposition as opposed to being the ruling party. All the things you’re promising now why weren’t they done before? He needs to realize that people have a choice and that choice could be in the DLP favor or otherwise. Instead of chiding he should be looking at his current strategy and determing what the root cause is….speak with your constituents, find out what the discontent is and address it.

Mr. Prime Minister, Sir, just hold on to your faith in God as your trust motivates you to do so.

If there is going to be any change in the affairs of Dominica’s Government, it will be by God’s command and for the sake of His God-fearing people there.

However, my perception tells me that God is not ready to direct any change of Government in Dominica for a while to come. And by the “Word” of the people, the Labour Party Government will return to Parliament, to serve us for another 5 years. May His Will be done as we desire it to be.

      Elizabeth, shut up!
That crooked corrupted rat do not know you!

Roosevelt does not have any faith in God ; Roosevelt faith is in money; ask him where is he hiding the $1, 200, 000,000.00 dollars missing from the sale of passports, and the government treasury?

Asking him what has he done with it?

Here is the Biblical definition of faith: ” Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

If Roosevelt believed in God, he would not involved himself with the false prophet he and Melisa brought to Dominica mocking God, blowing ram-goat horn in Melisa face; if Roosevelt believed in God, he would not advised his supporters not to eat or bath before going out to vote for him last election.

Water is used for cleansing, and purification; a clean body has a positive effect on the mine; an unclean body produces a corrupted shadow mine, which cause one not to think properly, but respond to the last command of evil!

I then said, this place needs a spiritual cleansing. I saw a lost/lust place with lost souls who needs divine intervention. That place is in a sad and sorry state! As a matter of fact, one popular prominent Artist from that area once said to me,” Grandbay is like Nineveh.” For anyone who knows about Nineveh in the Bible, will know how much of a terrible abominable place there is. Nineveh was so much of a lost place with lost souls, that Jonah didn’t want to go there, even if Yahweh God commanded him to go. Just see who’s the candidate they’re given, abominable!!!
