
The Sports Division is pleased to report that the Grand Final of the 2011 District Sports Festival was held on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the Benjamin’s Park in Portsmouth was a huge success.
All eight villages which qualified as finalists from their district festivals were represented by large numbers of participants at this fun filled and competitive event. The finalists were:
. Lagoon- North
. Wood Ford Hill – North East
. Crayfish River/Salybia – East
. Cass O’ Gorie -South East
. Pointe Michel – South West
. Tete Morne – South
. Goodwill – West Central
. St. Joseph – West
The teams participated in cricket, rounders, volleyball, football, netball and basketball.
At the end of a very exciting day, St. Joseph took the 3rd place trophy with 1st place in Football and 2nd place in Rounders.
Pointe Michel was 2nd with a win in volleyball and 2nd places in netball and football.
Goodwill took the Championship trophy with 1st places in Netball and Basketball.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports congratulates the community of Goodwill for winning the title of “Best Sporting Village for 2011” and says thank you to all the participating teams, village and districts sports committees, supporters and all others who helped in one way or the other in making the 2011 District Sports Festival the success that it was.

That was a great community event. Imagine, teams from seven other communities in Possi. If that happens once a year in a different district and once a year in the eight districts what excitement will that bring in the communities. GOOD SPORTS DIVISION
