It’s the end of the third day’s play and Australia now have a lead of 310 after closing at 200 for 6.
It was an enthralling day’s play as hundreds of fans cheered “let’s go Shane”.
On the second day West Indies, who resumed on 165 for 8, were dismissed for 218. Chanderpaul top scored with 68.
The Aussies started their innings with lots of urgency but were pegged back by some good bowling from the West Indies and it took a good second wicket partnership between Ponting (57) and Cowan (55) to see them through.
After Cowan was caught by Sammy from the bowling of Deonarine, the West Indies started to pile on the pressure and Ponting was caught by Chanderpaul off Roach for 57.
Then it was the turn of the local Shane Shillingford who got plenty of turn and bounce and managed to get the prized scalp of skipper Michael Clarke for 25.
First innings century maker Matthew Wade joined the ever reliable Hussey but found the going “tough” and was hit “plumb” on the toe by Deonarine and was out LBW.
The weather in Dominica has been very good so far. The cricket has been interesting and come the 4th promises to be a tough one.
The Aussies now lead by 310 and will not want to take the chance they took a few years ago after the home team secured a record of over 400 plus for victory.
Bowling for the home team so far: Roach has 2 for 40, Shillingford 2 for 69 in 29 overs and Deonarine 2 for 28 in 10 overs.
Score: Australia 200 for 6.
Hussey not out at 17 and Harris at 4.
Lets go Aussie’s lets go!!!
