BASKETBALL: Glam X-Men qualify for Premier League finals

Basketball action Wednesday night.

In a very exciting and entertaining night of basketball in the LIME National Basketball Playoffs played last night (Wednesday) the Glam X-Men qualified for the finals and Gloria Shillingford Raptors avoided elimination by wining game two against the Juggernauts.

Game 1 – Gloria Shillingford Raptors 64 points to Salisbury Juggernauts’ 61; top-scoring for the Raptors were Steve Hypolite 19 pts, Devon Barton 14 pts and Curtis Akiel, 14 pts, while in a losing effort Ridge Vidal 18 pts and Esmond Andrew, 10 pts. The series is now tied 1-1. Game three will be played on Friday or Saturday at the Lindo Park. The wining team will meet the Rafoul Snipers of Paix Bouche in the finals.

Game 2 – In another nail-biting finish, the highly favored Glam X-Men survived a scare from the United Insurance Sharks by pulling off a last minute come back to win the game. With three minutes remaining the X-Men were down by nine points, but some tenacious defense and turnovers by the Sharks allowed the X-Men to get back into the game and allowed veteran player Davidson Toulon to hit a big three pointer with no time remaining to win the game. Final score: The Glam X-Men 73 points to United Insurance Sharks 70 points; top-scoring for X-Men were Simon Joseph 12 pts, Joseph Hypolite 12 pts and Davidson Toulon, 11 pts, and for Sharks Royce Ceasar 24 pts, JnoBaptiste 19 pts and Clem Nicholas, 10 pts. This result allows X-Men to qualify for the finals, winning the series 2-0.

The games will continue this Friday with the Paix Bouche Eagles verses LIME Pros at Lindo Park.
