Bikers group refutes claim by organizer of Auto Sport Show

Some NIR members and their bikes at the Auto Sport Show at Castle Bruce

Vice President of the Nature Island Riders (NIR), Carlos Charles, has said that the statement made by lead organizer of the recently held Auto Sport Show, Sherian Austrie, about the lack of government support for bikers in Dominica is false.

In a DNO report on the 4th annual Auto Sport Show, organized by 767 Street Promotion – Krew meets Krew, Austrie stated that they do not get help from the higher authorities, adding that her group has been lobbying government for support but they have flatly refused to assist.

“We have asked them for the Canefield airport (runway); we ask them for a lot of stuff . Sometimes, we (the bikers) go out to St. Lucia to represent us (Dominica) and still we doh get the support that we need,” Austrie stated.

However, Charles said that for the past years, the bikers have had favorable responses from the government to their requests.

“I would like to place it on record that this is totally untrue, we are working with government,” he stated

“For the past couple years we have had favorable responses with our request, As recently as this year, with mentions of the airport, we have had favorable responses on that as well as on our trips to St. Lucia,” Charles stressed. “We’ve worked well with the minister of tourism and the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) so to say that we [the bikers] don’t get support from the government would be totally incorrect.”

He added that Sherian Austrie has never accompanied the NIR on any of their trips out of Dominica.

He said the NIR is not associated with the 767 Street Promotion, although they support auto events.

I always speak to dirty tongue U.W.P supporters about alienating people from the party. The guy heard an untruth spoken and he corrected it. And for that he is criticized. If I am not mistaken Carlos Charles is the son of Lambert ‘Lambi’ Charles , the host of the U.W.P program, the worker’s voice. Wonder how he feels about these attacks of workers supporters on his flesh and blood. Please be careful everything is not about party politics.

If you can afford a fancy bike you need no government assistance.

i don’t understand why Mr Charles is so defensive. You’re saying that you get government assistance yet members of your team are saying that they pay their own fees.. so do u pocket the assistance given Mr Charles? KUDOS to Ms Austrie for carrying out your events WITHOUT the means of the government.. no shame in asking for a little assistance people.

Soooo, why is the government that have to support bikers? Biking is a leisure activity. It is in no way a productive sector or industry. Let this little social club on wannabe’s help itself. If the government wants to assist by working with them to institute safer roadways, areas for parking of bikes etc then fine. The runway access i can support. fine the government can gain revenue from that. But if you all want to go to st lucia to simply show off and ride around, why should the government have to help you all. because you want to represent dominica? EVERY Dominican than travels is representing Dominica in their own way, they dont ask the government to help them to travel for leisure. I believe this is a perfect indication of the economy. That people who are able to spend tens of thousands on toys like bikes still want to beg the government to play with their toys in another country. Nonsense. IF they were involved in regional competitions i could understand but it isnt. its…

Why does everything have to be politicised? Dominica is such a small country, these sorts of things shouldn’t be occurring.

I do not understand why Dominicans are so dependent on government for everything?
Why should government give support to bikers or anybody for that matter simply because they own an old brake-up bit of crap!
The sort of things I saw on display; when people attend sports vehicle festival, that’s not the sort of rubbish they are talking about!

Let me see someone ride up on a Harley Davidson, costing fifteen and twenty thousand US dollars, and above that!

    Show me a Ferrari 458; a Lamborghini LP 700-4; a Maclaren MP4-12C

    Show me a Covert Z06/ZR!

All of the above cost more than a hundred thousand dollars US each; I have one of those covert, top speed is two hundred-twenty miles per hour.

    Hahahahahahahahahaha!

That is the type of stuff people display at sports conventions; or festivals, and we don’t depend on government handouts to go and have fun!

As you should. Support your habits as i was taught. If you cannot afford to go there with the bike you paid how much tends of thousands for, then stay at your home and ride your bike. I DONT SEE WHY THE GOVERNMENT HAS TO FOOT YOUR BILL. Many of you want to all want to live a lifestyle and try to attain a certain social status but you cant afford it.

How can a private activity which was deemed a success is used to place blame on the government. If it was a success what is the big deal ? We had a huge success. End of story, see you next time. Was the lady paid to say those things.
Are you serious, you want to have a motor show with driving and riding activity at an airport on the landing strip. Wow. Sounds like a uwp demand. They get so irate when their unreasonable demands are not met.
Why don’t you build your own arena. Motor shows is big private business. I have never heard of such shows being sponsored or subsidize by any governments.
Are any of those vehicles built or assembled in Dominica ?

We ARE NOT ON THEIR LEVEL. NOT EVEN ON ANTIGUA’S LEVEL. You all want to ride around like superstars on preety bikes showing off but you all cant even come together and build you own facilities to develop your own activities. Again it is supposed to be the burden of the tax payer to GIVE you something for free again? Nonsense. All of all you have how much money to buy bike and make it look pretty with how much performance parts (you must listen to many of them boast about their bikes when you get a chance) but no business mind to develop your own passion by yourselves for yourselves. Many of them are working professionals but they still want to depend on the government for help to go to st lucia to ride their bikes and show off? i cannot support it.

That is a lie, you don’t know what you are talking about!

If you are not a liar print your given let us see if we know you.

I don’t know about race track in Antigua, and St. Kitts, but in Europe and North America, none of that are owned by government.

The the track and owners make money is by sponsored commercial, big companies advertising products.

        Stop being a liar!

In America, government owns all of the recreational parks where people go for a walk. there might be children and adults playing sports, but all of the stadiums are privately owned!

Yankee, Stadium; Dodger Stadium ect, ect.

I know about the USA. I pay attention to ABC news. They have shown such shows every summer with no government assistance. In fact they have to pay sales tax if tickets are sold.
There have been airplane shows at “private airports.
As for shows in Antigua and other places I doubt they will be kept at an airport.

Then you obviously do not know much. States give many consessions, tax breaks etc. to Talladega, Indy, many smaller venues as they rake in lots of money for the state. If I were you I’d advise my boys to seriously lower “the cost of owning a vehicle” drastically in order to generate more business, job creation, and automatically make the gov’t even more in taxes this would generate exponentially. A win win for the Dominicans we do dearly care about.

“How can a private activity which was deemed a success is used to place blame on the government. “(Joseph John).

Congratulation John; for the first time since reading all of your comments, I must agree with you for whatever it is worth!

These people cannot go to squat over their outside pit-hole and relieve themselves without the involvement of the government (the one man government Roosevelt Skerrit).

That is one of the reasons Roosevelt denominates them all; body mind and soul!

That is self imposed  mental, political, and  economic slavery on themselves  while Roosevelt steep on their heads and grind their faces in the dirt!Poor slaves.

I do not need congratulations or any kind of agreement from anyone. I just insist that I have the democratic right to express myself on a free medium without insults thrown at me. I am quite capable of worst insults than those people who were expelled from school or deported.
Those people have motivated me to share the DLP socio- ideology.
Supporting the uwp and dfp is like wasting my parents hard work money for my school fees.
Look at them fellars performance in the House. You would have think that after 4 years they would be able to understand the fundamental of the House or that no one can crash a Heads of Government Conference. (Terrorist Act). I cant understand how people follow a leader with competence in nothin but bull talk, no education, a tract record of bad behavior, lack of good will and a manufacturer of fake issues to promote anger and hate. ( and the list goes on). He and his gang have nothing to offer but talk, demonstration, looting, harras

“I am quite capable of worst insults than those people who were expelled from school or deported.” (John).

Foolish comments like that in the quote shows that you are not a very intelligent person; maybe why you are insulted. If it is one thing a computer or smart phone will do to people is that it will prove their intelligence; if they are simply kindergarten educated, it shows that.

If they are simply elementary educated or did not even finish elementary it exposes that too!

If they are academically educated a computer and smart phone will bring that out also.

When someone persistently  or constantly indulge in useless and unfounded fragmented babbling we can even calculate their IQ.

By the way I’ve never been deported from any country; my elementary education began in Wesley; Secondary I got in Antigua, college began in England, I completed my college and academic education in the United States, where I earned four scientific degrees.

          What about you?

Favorable response but you cannot give details. What exactly did you get from whom? Skerrit offering a few bikers crumbs to attend political rallies is not support. The lady is correct, if she was wrong you would have been able to tell us exactly which biker groups and what fund they receive from govt and not party.

U seem bias to the fact that Mr. Charles only pointed out that assistance was given… His comment wasn’t political and only shows that the young lady, rather than seeking information on stuff she doesn’t know about …was called out shud on her bull…..

The young people are being deprived of sporting facilities in Dominica. They have much pent up energy. They must be given the necessary facilities to use this energy in a positive way. We all know that the present, corrupt Skerrit led administration has miserably failed the country especially the youth population. They have badly been shortchanged by the demonically corrupt concoction of evildoers. Time to fully engage the youths in a meaningful manner.

Stop your insulting ways by referring to the young, indomitable, erudite, efferescent lady as ‘that girl’. No wonder society is so misogynistic. In other Caribbean territories these young people are assisted and encouraged by their governments to engage in wholesome similar activities.
Dominica is unique. This is a family, friends and diehard supporters government made up of the most seasoned pathological LIARS.

I do not mind singing for my supper. Its not a crime, nor will I have to pay court fees for lying. But what or for whom was the lady talking. Did the government in any way prevent her from having a successful private event.
When a successful event cause blame to be placed on government, there have to be an ulterior motive. This is extreme duplicity. Is she an agent of the uwp…..use an airport for a motor show. show..wow.

        Joseph
once a year (August to be factual) City Airport , in LONDON , is used not only for a bike show but also an air show , I have personally witnessed a bike ridden at 190miles an hour , a car being driven at 140 miles an hour underneath a single engine plane being flown over the runway as a man stretches out of the sunroof of the moving car grabs onto a metal bar underneath the airplane and climbs into the plane as the car gets to the edge of the runway and the plane rises.
Yes that is at a very busy airport where jets operate .
        Just saying nah.,
